We spent a great long weekend with our two-year olds. The living room is spacious and full of light. We cooked in the open kitchen. The dining table is right in front of a large window with a lovely view over the garden. We loved the master bedroom, with huge windows and high ceiling. The garden is on the edge of the woods, a small creek runs through it. Very quiet area with beautiful nature. We had a lovely visit in this beautiful home!Recommended for: Families with young children.

Numbering six adults, an infant and three pre-schoolers, our family was very satisfied with this house and its spacious outside grounds. The house is clean, with lots of windows, well-equipped, has comfortable beds, as well as a modern kitchen and a (Sub-zero) refrigerator/freezer that held everything we needed for such an age-range of diners. We enjoyed eating on the spacious deck. It's a great house for children with many indoors and outside opportunities to keep busy. Internet connection was stable. There is a large flat-screen TV (though we didn't turn it on) and our cell phones all worked at the house with no problem. We appreciated (and used) the washer/dryer AND the dishwasher! I estimate that the town of New Paltz is about a ten-minute drive (it has two good grocery stores and many restaurant opportunities), and the State Park and Mohonk Mountain House are another 20 minutes or so beyond that. (A car is essential here.) The owner, is very responsive and pleasant to work with. We'd love to return sometime and hike in those scenic mountains. **We highly recommend this fun country home!**Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

My family stayed recently at the house and had a great time. The backyard and the fire pit were huge hits for my two kids (under age 5), along with the deer that visited in the mornings during breakfast time. The area is very quiet and property provides privacy. We found the owners very responsive and interested in making sure we had everything we needed.Recommended for: Families with young children.

We just returned from a wonderful 4 days in this house. Everything was as it was described and the layout was just perfect for a family. We had 2 couples and 2 kids (age 4 & 5) and there was plenty of room for all of us. The open kitchen/dining/living area was a great place for everyone to hang out. The weather was perfect fall weather and the kids played in the huge yard and on the play set. The adults were fighting over time in the hammock and everyone enjoyed walking in the woods and down to the stream. We cooked a lot and the kitchen was well-stocked, which made it easy. Donna, the owner, was super-responsive and had great ideas and suggestions for us. Very close to New Paltz and conveniences, but felt very quiet and like a real escape!! Highly recommend this wonderful home! We will be back for sure.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

Rented the property for a relaxing weekend getaway with a group of friends. The house was spacious, funky, clean and met our needs well. Most of our days were spent exploring the surrounding area (rail trails by New Paltz, hiking at Minnewaska State Park) but enjoyed a leisurely start to the day over breakfast in the huge kitchen and dining area, looking out on to the deck and back yard (perfect for families with kids). Enjoyed dinner at the Red Brick Tavern in Rosendale and the Gilded Otter in New Paltz, both just a 10 minute drive from the house. Got a little lost the first night - try to arrive during daylight to get your bearings. GPS is not necessarily helpful. Owner Donna was helpful and responsive to all questions prior to our stay.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We have visited this home two times and both times enjoyed it immensely. Pre and post renovation, this was a super family friendly space, providing lots of indoor and outdoor areas for fun. Our recent trip in September was a blast. The new renovations are amazing, with a HUGE master bedroom with amazing views of the property. The open kitchen was great for entertaining and we had many delicious meals here. Although there is a table to eat at, we had all our meals around the the new island. We are hoping to be back in April. Donna was very flexible and answered emails right away.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

Our family had a wonderful time staying at the house. The home is very cozy, welcoming, and full of children's spirit. There is everything you might need in the kitchen to make a nice meal. And the sauna is a great bonus for a winter day! We loved this house. The property is amazing. We walked and walked through the snow and felt like we were in the forest of the fairy tales. And we made amazing meals. The six children with us loved the playroom and the grown ups made some amazing meals and sat around feeling altogether dreamy. Donna anticipated our every need and even though she was miles away we felt her hand in getting us there and all settled in.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

About the owner: We started coming to this area years ago to rock climb. Now we love to get away with the whole family when we get the chance. The kids love being able to run free in the back yard and experience nature.
Why the Owner Chose New Paltz:
We love the New Paltz area! We started coming here years ago to rock climb in the gunks. Since we have had kids we have discovered, many beautiful hikes, swimming holes, farms, horseback riding, berry and apple picking. It is really great to have an escape from the city, the kids love it, we don't even have to leave our back yard to have a relaxing nature filled vacation!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Our house is back from the road, and opens onto huge deck that overlooks a beautiful back yard. We have a new cedar jungle gym that entertains the kids for hours, as well as a large sand pit. Behind our yard we have acres of woods to walk, ski, snowshoe and toboggan in. We loved that our house has some country charm and does not feel at all suburban. Our property has a stream that runs along besides it, you can walk along this stream to get to a beautiful waterfall.
