*** Welcome to BOULDER FALLS RETREAT! ***

Boulder Falls Retreat is a beautiful, three level log cabin (completed in December 2006). It's located between Boone and Banner Elk. It feels remote and isolated, but is very convenient to area attractions, shops and restaurants. The cabin has three bedrooms -- two with King beds and a loft with a Queen bed. Each bedroom provides privacy -- each is on a separate level and each level has a full bath. The main level bath has a jetted tub. * LARGE FLAT SCREEN HDTV WITH FREE MOVIES ON DEMAND! in downstairs den. *

Boulder Falls Retreat is built on a large, heavily wooded lot with a 90 foot waterfall. It has two levels of deep, wrap around decks. The lower deck is connected to the hot tub deck next to the waterfall. Quiet and private with the soothing sounds of rushing water, this cabin is the perfect place to relax after an active day.

There are 2 dens with gas stacked-stone fireplaces; one has a 32-inch flat screen TV and DVD player, the other has 42" HDTV with free On Demand movies and premium channels. HIGH SPEED WIRELESS INTERNET will keep you connected while you're away from home, but you may forget to check your email once you're here!

The cabin is decorated in plush mountain décor with hardwood floors, tongue and groove vaulted pine ceiling, cedar log beds with thick pillowtop mattresses, luxury linens, all leather furniture and a fully equipped kitchen. Outdoors there's a new gas grill, ski racks, HAMMOCK, plenty of comfortable rocking chairs and cedar log Adirondeck chairs, outside dining table and chairs and a gorgeous view of Grandfather Mountain.

The elevation at our cabin is approximately 4000 feet. You can take long walks right out the front door and up the mountain. The gravel road turns into a beautiful shady path to the top of the mountain. You will see deer and other wildlife and incredible long range views. Unlike many cabins available for rent, you will not hear road noise or noisy neighbors at our cabin. There is only one cabin near ours (a wooded acre away), and when they're here, the owners are the best neighbors you could wish for!

The trailhead for the Grandfather Mountain Profile Trail is only 4 miles from the cabin, and the Blue Ridge Parkway is only 8 miles away.

Distance from our front door to other local attractions:
Sugar Mountain -- 5.6 miles
Hawksnest -- 4.2 miles
Seven Devils -- 3.5 miles
Beech Mountain -- 13.1 miles
Boone -- 9.1 miles
Blowing Rock -- 11.2 miles
Linville Falls -- 20.1 miles
Grandfather Mountain -- 11.4 miles
Valle Crucis (Mast General Store) -- 7.2 miles
Watauga Lake -- 36.6 miles

Hike, ski, bike, golf, kayak, shop -- it's all here! This cabin is secluded and quiet yet minutes away from Boone and ASU, Grandfather Mountain, Blowing Rock, Linville Falls, 4 golf courses, all the ski resorts, Tweetsie Railroad, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the Appalachian Trail. There's plenty of convenient shopping and great restaurants within 10 minutes. AWD or 4 wheel drive is strongly recommended in winter months.

BOULDER FALLS RETREAT is lovingly cared for by owners who dreamed of their own mountain escape after renting in various locales over the years. We tried to think of everything others might want or need for the perfect get away. Because we don't live in the area, the cabin is professionally managed to ensure it will meet all of your expectations! If you love the outdoors or a cozy, quiet retreat, this is a perfect 4 season locale for your mountain vacation.

Log Cabin Beside Creek - Enjoy the Falls from Your Hot Tub

Year Purchased: 2006

Why the Owner Chose Banner Elk

We're drawn to the energy and amenities of college towns and began our search for the perfect college town several years ago. We visited quite a few, but fell in love with Boone! During the summer of 2006 we started what turned out to be a very short search for a vacation cabin in the Boone area. We rented a cabin through VRBO and spent the first day with a realtor touring many properties. That evening we went for a walk, and we heard rushing water as we went around a bend in the road. We were thrilled to find a cabin under construction right next to the waterfall. That was the end of our search -- privacy, great natural beauty, the soothing sound of rushing water, big covered decks, and the the great nearby amenities of a college town with a beautiful campus -- what more could we ask for? We were able to work with the builder to make it perfect for us and comfortable for anyone who stays there.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin

Our location makes it easy to get to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Grandfather Mountain for hiking and to all the area attractions, shopping and restaurants. When we're at home, the deep, covered wrap around decks are where we spend a lot of our time. We have a big, comfy hammock for naps, comfortable Adirondeck chairs for reading or checking email, and a dining table for outdoor meals. We especially love being out there when it rains! We eat a lot of meals at home so the kitchen is well stocked with everything needed to make great meals. And with 2 cozy dens and 2 fireplaces, it's easy for everyone to have plenty of space for TV, movies, reading, games, etc.

Thank you your interest in our mountain retreat! We love the outdoors and have focused our travel over the years to places with tremendous natural beauty. Hiking, biking and kayaking are activities we always include in our vacations. The mountains of NC gave us everything we love to do and also put us close to family who enjoy escaping to the mountains for great family vacations.

A wonderful getaway!

My husband and I have just returned from a fabulous New Year's getaway with friends at Boulder Falls Retreat. If only we could have stayed longer! The cabin is exactly as described, only better! Nestled on the mountain beside a waterfall, the property is completely private yet close to all the amenities. A lovely mountain hike is as close as the back door, with a relaxing dip in the hot tub under the stars awaiting upon your return. The owners of this cabin have put so much thought and care into each detail of the cabin and its furnishings that you just won't want to leave! We will certainly be back!

From our cabin guestbook: It is 3 years since our last visit and it is still just as great. The cabin, with all it's comforts of home, is second to none. We loved sharing this time & space with our friends. There is so much to do in the surrounding area, & then to come back to the porch & waterfall. Wonderful! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

A truly fantastic cabin. We relaxed from the moment we arrived. You have thought of everything to make a stay here really memorable. Comfortable and cool inside when it was 90+ outside. Comfortable on the deck in the evenings listening to nature. And the hot tub!! Well, Irene says we have to get one when we get home. It was so good here that we changed our plans and stayed an extra night. Thank you for sharing this wonderful home.

From our cabin guestbook: Oh what an inspiring mini vacation. This home is everyone's dream. So beautifully decorated, clean and well stocked with everything one needs while away from home. The view was breathtaking, the running water was so serene and the hot tub just added to all of this. I will be shopping around for a hot tub next weekend. Oh, we loved the handcarved bowl that sits on top of the fridge. During our stay we have shopped everywhere to find a bowl like it without success. Thank you so much for allowing us to enjoy your home and our dream home. We had a great time.

I don't want to go home! The cabin is just so comfortable, most nights all four of us preferred to stay in. A never finished game of Monopoly one night . . . a few enjoyable and relaxing moments in the hot tub the next . . . I definitely could get used to this! All of us appreciated the little details here too. The board games and cards . . . the soft sheets and comfy beds . . . curling up with a fuzzy blanket on a cozy couch watching late-nite TV. Thank you for providing everything we could ever ask for! We've already discussed plans for coming back. See you soon!

This has been our scond visit to Boulder Falls Retreat. Everything is just as beautiful as I remembered! The weather was much better this time though! We enjoyed hiking and even found some new trails -- we would recommend Rough Ridge on a pretty day! The kids enjoyed white water rafting at "Edge of the World" again and the Zipline at Hawksnest. Definitely a great trip! The cabin was perfect for our family and 2 friends!
