My husband and I have just returned from a fabulous New Year's getaway with friends at Boulder Falls Retreat. If only we could have stayed longer! The cabin is exactly as described, only better! Nestled on the mountain beside a waterfall, the property is completely private yet close to all the amenities. A lovely mountain hike is as close as the back door, with a relaxing dip in the hot tub under the stars awaiting upon your return. The owners of this cabin have put so much thought and care into each detail of the cabin and its furnishings that you just won't want to leave! We will certainly be back!

Recommended for:Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

A truly fantastic cabin. We relaxed from the moment we arrived. You have thought of everything to make a stay here really memorable. Comfortable and cool inside when it was 90+ outside. Comfortable on the deck in the evenings listening to nature. And the hot tub!! Well, Irene says we have to get one when we get home. It was so good here that we changed our plans and stayed an extra night. Thank you for sharing this wonderful home.

From our cabin guestbook: Oh what an inspiring mini vacation. This home is everyone's dream. So beautifully decorated, clean and well stocked with everything one needs while away from home. The view was breathtaking, the running water was so serene and the hot tub just added to all of this. I will be shopping around for a hot tub next weekend. Oh, we loved the handcarved bowl that sits on top of the fridge. During our stay we have shopped everywhere to find a bowl like it without success. This has been our scond visit to Boulder Falls Retreat. Everything is just as beautiful as I remembered! The weather was much better this time though! We enjoyed hiking and even found some new trails -- we would recommend Rough Ridge on a pretty day! The kids enjoyed white water rafting at "Edge of the World" again and the Zipline at Hawksnest. Definitely a great trip! The cabin was perfect for our family and 2 friends!

I don't want to go home! The cabin is just so comfortable, most nights all four of us preferred to stay in. A never finished game of Monopoly one night . . . a few enjoyable and relaxing moments in the hot tub the next . . . I definitely could get used to this! All of us appreciated the little details here too. The board games and cards . . . the soft sheets and comfy beds . . . curling up with a fuzzy blanket on a cozy couch watching late-nite TV. This mountain home is very peaceful and full of good spirits. We have stayed at a few different rental houses, but this one is by far our favorite. I absolutely love the double deck porch, hot tub, jacuzzi bath and it even got cool enough to enjoy the fireplaces. It rained each afternoon which was great because it increased the flow of the waterfall! We even saw a little bear come wandering down the road toward the house! It was an extra treat!! The serenity cannot be topped! I would love to take this setting (including the waterfall and little bear) back to the hustle and bustle of New York, but since I can't maybe we'll be back again one day! Thank you for sharing oyur mountain get-away!

From a peaceful, serene neighborhood to a new, modern yet rustic home, we were able to live, breathe and hear the mountains. We enjoyed eating and tourist outings but more special were the meals, evenings and mornings, etc. where we just stayed here to enjoy exactly what we came for! Boulder Falls Retreat is an incredible home not just a mountain rental. The whole family was comfortable and everything you could want or need was there in the cabin or just minutes away. Ski Beach,Hawksnest and Sugar Mountain were 15 mins away and in 20 mins we were on the top of Grandfather Mountain. 20 mins to Banner Elk,NC 25 mins to Boone,NC 75 incredible mountain driving mins to and from Johnson City,Tn. Tri State Airport and rental cars. Great food, shopping everywhere and still very very small town.

From our guestbook at the cabin: We decided to do something completely out of the ordinary --get away for Christmas to start a new tradition. Wow! Did we start one!! Unfortunately, we had no snow but we got to relax in the hammock and we loved the sound of the waterfall. We put up a fake "Charlie Brown" tree, and the kids really enjoyed making all the ornaments for it. Santa actually got to come down the chimney for them! The two living rooms were great for us and the kids. They got to watch their DVDs and we got to watch ours. Thank you so much for allowing us to enjoy your home this year for Christmas. The modern interior of the home is spectacular and the wrap around decks are astonishing! We are six mid-twenty yr. olds who wanted to unwind and get away from the busy schedules we have.
