Situated at the end of a private road, which means no traffic passes by the house, you will be in a quiet paradise, yet all the amenities of Hanalei Town lie just blocks away. Generous screened lanais beckon you to relax and dine in Kauai's gentle breezes as you listen to the ocean at your doorstep. Surf fans: Wai'oli Beach Estate is steps away from the famous 'Pinetrees' area of the beach. For those with musical inclinations, there is a well-maintained, recently-restored 1964 Steinway upright piano in the house, available for your use by arrangement.

This is a place for relaxation and rejuvenation. Built by a sea captain in 1966, the simple, unpretentious house has been carefully updated to preserve the feel of simpler times. Unique furnishings, high-quality bedding and loads of extra personal touches add a sense of comfort and quiet luxury.

  • It's impossible to say enough great things about this fantastic property. My family and I have stayed here for a week at a time the past two years over Spring Break and we've already made plans to come back for a third year. In fact, the instant that we arrived the first time, I said out loud "We're coming back here!" It is a magically relaxing place. The immaculately maintained grounds feel like you're staying in your own private arboretum. Where else can you pick papayas off the trees and enjoy them after they've ripened? Walking through the wood gate through the palm trees onto the beach is like walking into heaven! Even though there aren't a lot of people passing by that particular stretch of beach in front of the house, after a while during our stay I found myself becoming overly protective of my privacy and mentally trying to shoo them away. There is an amazing sense of peace and privacy here, and I could literally feel the stress evaporate minute by minute during our stay. My wife and I actually stayed in the house back in 1989 when her father was house sitting. The new owner has made dramatic changes and improvements to both the house and property. I really feel at home here. During our stay, I was so happy to just soak in the views in every direction, and enjoy feeling the wind and rain and hearing the sounds of the birds...it's a rejuvenating place. It's not cheap and there are less expensive places to rent nearby. But none of them compare to this jewel of a spot. The interior is eclectic, some would say "funky" but I like eclectic and funky so it suited me. If you have younger children, you should be aware that there are several expressionistic pieces of art (specifically paintings that graphically illustrate anatomical parts of the human body) that might raise a few eyebrows (and questions). But open minded people shouldn't be offended. The house is wonderful, the lanai is a great spot, the grounds are green and lush and the beach is twenty steps away. It's so scenic and beautiful that the pictures of the property don't come close to doing it justice! Hanalei Bay is at your doorstep and when it rains (as it often does here) the mountains in the distance sprout dozens of waterfalls. Can you tell that I really like it here?

  • The property is beyond unique. You live in the gardens, enjoying the Wai' Oli Stream and Hanalei Bay from every part of the house and property. We have been going to Hanalei for over ten years, renting properties, and have lived there, if you want to truly experience the Hanalei there is no better way to do it!
