We had 3 generations staying for an extended weekend to attend my neice's wedding and our party of 13 had a wonderful time staying in Papa Bear Lodge! The cabin is really rustic & cute. It was apptly named as it is decorated with lots of bears. It is exactly what we had hoped for including a beautiful view of the colorful mountains. (All I kept saying all weekend was, "It's SOOOOO pretty here!" Do the locals ever get used to seeing that beauty?) Because we were there during peak leaf changing season the traffic in Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge was crazy busy so you must leave early if you plan to arrive on time for any activities. For some of us, our favorite activity was the zipline tour we did out near Hartford, TN, about an hour's drive from Gatlinburg. ( I noticed after we'd already booked our tour on-line that there are other ziplines closer but we enjoyed the sights as we drove there, so no biggy.) The times we had questions for the owners, they were very helpful. We had plenty of room and parking, the kids enjoyed the game room downstairs, and we all agree that we would not hesitate to stay at Papa Bear Lodge again.

We are so appreciative to have found an nice cabin. Hope we can find time to come to the mountains in 2012 during the snow season. We loved the direct view of the mountains from the deck while enjoying the wonderful hot tub. It was impossible to count all your bears in your cabin--believe me we tried- Hope you found the bear we left for you---This has been one of our best vacations ever. We hope to bring the kids next time.

Our family had a wonderful time staying here on our first trip to Gatlinburg. We cannot say enough about the joys of relaxing at your cabin while we were here. It felt as comfortable and warm as our own home. When we walked in we were taken back by the cozy feel and the nice furniture and Donna Quilts that were on every bed! The cabin was clean, neat and exactly how it is pictured. We had a great time too.We experienced Ober Gatlinburg, Cades Cove, and many more attractions on our stay. The view off the deck is amazing, the fireplaces were a big hit and the location of the cabin is perfect. You can't get much better than staying next to the National Park. All ten of us will be back. Thank you for opening your home, it has been a peaceful and relaxing trip as we celebrated our family reunion. May God bless you both.

First appearance of the cabin was just as the pictures showed, however when we were already to turn in 1st night around 10:30,my brother in laws said"come upstairs" I needed to see something. The 1st bedrooms bed had chunks of chocolate chip cookies and red sprinkles under the sheets and on top,the other bedroom upstairs had red sprinkles and black dog hair all over the sheets. My brother in law contacted the owner and she said,"She finds it hard to believe her maid wouldn't have changed the sheets",she made it sound like she didn't believe us ,so I took pictures which my brother in law is going to send her. The owner told us to check master bedroom closet for xtra sheets, which there was none, she made an attempt to contact her maid with no success. The owner said,"we could wash our sheets(10:30 at night),so I was gonna wash the sheets but there was no laundry detergent in the cabin. So the 1st night ,6 of us had to sleep on 3 couches 1 loveseat.(no sofa beds either). The next day was XMAS EVE,the owner called and told us her maid would be there with more sheets between 12 & 1,we left our shopping to meet her, when come to find out she was 2 hrs late and did not get to cabin until 3 p.m.The maid did not have enough sheets for us with her so I ended up going to store to buy laundry detergent and washing some sheets,(not happy). I asked the maid why the sheets were dirty and she told me"The beds were made up so she assumed they were clean"(never assume). The maid actually told me that she was late because she had some shopping to do,which we left ourshopping to come meet her. I would not stay here again because the owner acted like we were the ones telling a story but come to find out her maid ( DID NOT CHANGE THE SHEETS). I've rented from VRBO for yrs and this is the 1st bad experience we have ever had.
Owner response:All the problems the guests had was caused by the cleaners. It was found the cleaners were having personal problems. A new team of cleaners was hired to replace the old cleaning staff on January 5,2012.
