We just returned from a week at Bahama Sunset. If you are looking for complete relaxation and a quiet place, this is the perfect place for you. We thoroughly enjoyed the house, especially the deck. We watched sting rays, sharks, dolphins, turtles and other fish swim by and hopped in to snorkel with them. It was amazing! We found good restaurants nearby (Rainbow Inn was our favorite) or we cooked in. The people of Eleuthera are very friendly. It was unlike any place we have ever visited and we have traveled the world! I am active duty military and Suzy is retired, so we have spent a lot of time on the water and in sea ports. This place is really different. I can see where it might not be for everyone. You definitely have to be prepared to slow down and reconnect with each other and nature. That's what we did and it was just what the doctor ordered! Thanks again. We hope to visit your place again.

Scott We absolutely loved your home on Eleuthra. The pictures can’t capture the beauty of the waters , the house and the sunsets. We were sad to leave but will truly think about coming back. Phillip was helpful and looks after the property well. I would really recommend to any other guests to rent your SUV. We explored the island from Preacher’s cave in the north to Lighthouse beach in the south and everywhere in between. I want to pass on a couple pictures we took and feel free to add them to your album on-line. Once again thank you for sharing your home we will not forget this trip. We had a terrific time in Eleuthera. You have a very special place there in Gregory Town; we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The snorkeling was great in the lagoon right out back -- we saw sting rays, a sea turtle, and even a very curious little Ramora who tried tirelessly to attach himself to us (picture attached). Philip was an absolute gem -- what a terrific person to have working for you. And you were right, everyone on the island knew him -- everyone from our taxi drivers (Stanton & Dr Seabreeze) to a woman in the Bluff Settlement who let us use her phone. Thanks again Scott. We hope to visit the island again sometime down the road. If we stay in Gregory Town, we'll be sure to get in touch with you again. Best wishes, Mike & Rebecca

Our trip to Eleuthera was the perfect way for us to start our new adventure! Bahama Sunset is AMAZING! It is exactly what we had hoped for and more! Phillip was wonderful and we missed him so much. He went as far as accommodating our crazy request to see a pineapple field which he took us to see and took the time to come by several times to try catch up with us so he can show David how to cut open a coconut! We were blessed to have met SOME of the family members too ! The whole trip was an adventure in itself full of small crazy mini adventures that made us realized that together we can work through ANYTHING. We got our SUV stuck in the sand in Rainbow Bay for almost an hour , explored every nook and cranny of the island which meant turning down every gravel road I can talk David into, driving the 3 miles on the craziest, scariest, most fun gravel road past Bannerman's Town to discover the most amazing beach we have ever seen! Did we mention running out of gas a few hours before our flight and having to hitch hike to the closest gas station!? Luckily the man who used to own Rainbow Inn stopped to help us out! We can spend days telling our adventure, every juicy detail! We have seen the most amazing scenery, met the kindest most hospitable people, and experienced the most incredible 9 days full of adventure that we would forever share with anyone who would stop long enough to listen! AND, are fortunate enough to have done so together. We can't imagine a better way to celebrate our 1st Anniversary, our move, our new adventure ... our life! Thank you Scott for sharing your home with us. Rest assured, you will be hearing from us through the years! With warmest regard, David and Annaleah Prevatt

Scott, Wow wee. What a wonderful part of paradise. You've got the premier cliffsde dwelling. The hugh rocks make such a wonderous ocean garden filled with anything we have seen. From purple fans to seargent fish and ever so guardful bugles, lovely drop off caverns and swims through overhangs and yes a lionfish. Most bestest craziest moment in the cove was snorkling around a yellow spotted 3 foot ray on the bottom when from off the ocean side flying by like a dream a 6 foot wide southern eagle ray.OMG. Later that day from the deck The whole family of four sailed past. yeahhhhhhh. It's like they came to say goodbye while off in the distance a three master came over the horizon. Thank you. Left message w/ Phillip. Who was very helpful BTW. Brought us fresh vegs one day. In your notes please communicate that Phillip will not be at the airport as there are apparently loyalty issues w/ the taxi services. Also he will not bring the guests back to the airport fot the same reason. I guess that's OK but we were surprized. Please make those two facts known in your notes sheet. Sincerely, The Daceys Lastly we are keen on going there again so look for us in your mail someday.

We loved "our" little place in the sun. The only downside was that we had to return to reality at the end of our week. The kitchen was very well set up for preparing meals. The beds were comfortable. The cottage was very clean. The shower was great! We loved sitting on the porch overlooking the water. While there wasn't a beach, snorkeling was possible right below the deck. The caretaker, Philip, was very kind to bring us fresh tomatoes from his garden. We would definitely return. Jeff

We miss Bahama Sunset so badly that we look back on this site still not believing that we stayed at this amazing place! If you are reading this .... trust us and just BOOK IT! We contemplated on several places before deciding on this one and had no regrets. We visited the other homes we considered and was so glad that we made the choice that we did. Bahama Sunset is PERFECT. One advise: READ ALL THE JOURNALS (books where past guest wrote their advice and adventures during their stay)! It was our bible! It gave us hints on places to shop for our groceries, where to get gas, and all amazing places to discover and explore! Along with the journals we read (and brought with us everywhere) the "Elusive Beaches of Eleuthera". It is so worth the time to read through these pages as they contain pretty much all secrets of the island! We can't tell you enough how unforgettable our stay was. Thank you Scott and Phillip ... for everything.

We have just returned from our (all too brief) visit to your Bahama Sunset (April 10-13, 2010) The trip as a surprise for my wife as part of our Silver Wedding Anniversary – she didn't even know where we were going until after we got on the plane. So, as you can probably imagine, the potential implications of any kind of mistake/disaster were likely to be pretty serious!!!No need to worry for even a second – this place is just ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!! A truly idyllic setting, very peaceful and really relaxing, yet very well-appointed with everything you could need. We loved the laid-back nature of the island, the great snorkeling in the "lagoon" at the bottom of the steps, and just lazing around taking in the views from the deck. Many, many thanks indeed to you Scott, and also to Phillip (Thompson) who is a gem – really friendly, efficient, and very helpful. To anyone considering a stay at Bahama Sunset – believe everything you see and read, and then still be prepared to be blown away by the beauty of this cottage, the setting, and the island.Needless to say, the "surprise trip" was a complete success....... and we WILL be back!!

Just got back from a too short, 3 night stay on Eleuthera. Wonderful island, and Bahama Sunset is great house in a unique and spectacular setting. Very clean, and the owner Scott and caretaker Phillip were very responsive to any questions or needs that we had. As Scott points out, not a good place for young kids due to the cliffside location, but I would highly recommend Bahama Sunset to adults seeking a memorable vacation. We hope to be back someday!

My wife and I loved this cottage. The setting is dramatic, and we spent many hours on the deck being dazzled by the sunsets and brilliant night skies. The place is very well cared-for and it has all we needed for a care-free stay. The location is convenient to some of the best beaches and amazing natural wonders of this laid-back island. It is such a treat to snorkel and float around right below your own deck in a really amazingly scenic spot. Scott was very helpful and responsive to our needs. We'd go again in a heartbeat.

From the beautiful sunsets to the yard full of butterflies...this place will ease your soul. Maybe you will get to see the resident HUGE hermit crab that scared me because I thought it was a giant moving rock at 1am...or you could become friends with the lizard that peeks out of his little cave as you come the the stairs from swimming in your own lagoon. Everything was perfect and relaxing!

From the moment we drove up Bahama Sunset's driveway, we knew we were in for a treat. This home is the perfect place to get away, kick back, snorkel, fish, and, in general, have the most relaxing time you could ever wish for. The amazingly clear bluegreen waters of the lagoon are teeming with fish of all kinds, both tropical and those you can eat should you choose to do some fishing. We caught (and ate!)snapper and grouper. The home's amenities make you feel welcome and at home, and the views from the deck are spectacular. The night sky is home to more stars than you can even imagine, and the sunrises and sunsets are the perfect way to start and end each day. Although the days seem to pass too quickly, the hours in each day take their time in passing. In short, paradise is definitely NOT an illusion... its name is Bahama Sunset.

Dear Wendy and Scott, Where to begin.......Everyday was an adventure on Eleuthera for us. We really enjoyed our stay. The people on the island were so friendly and helpful to us. We made alot of new friends. When we arrived at the house Phillip helped us get settled. He placed beautiful fresh flowers around the house. He was always right there if we needed anything. Such a nice man. We were amazed by the lagoon - so beautiful to look at - but very intimidating too. The snorkling in the lagoon was the best! We saw angel fish, sting rays, tropical colored fish and beautiful coral. We also did some fishing in the lagoon - had fresh grouper for dinner one night! We explored almost all of the island, we found some beautiful beaches. We kayaked at Rainbow Beach-so much fun. Also went through Hatchet Bay Cave. What an experience that was! We also had nice dinners at Surfers Haven and Rainbow Inn. The sunsets in the evening and the star filled skies that followed were breathtaking. You picked the perfect name for your home....Bahama Sunset! Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us. Sincerely, Tammy and Scott

Our honeymoon at Bahama Sunset was absolutely amazing. The house itself was a true epitome of the island itself. Simple yet with some of the most amazing views you will ever see. There are amazing "secret" beaches throughout the island as well as some great places to eat, although we would recommend that you cook at the house so you don't miss the amazing sunset. We would absolutely recommend this house to anyone looking for a relaxing and romantic vacation!!

We've just returned to Rockport, MA following a perfect week at Bahama Sunset. We'd rented houses on a number of islands in the past, but Scott and Wendy's place on Eleuthera was tops. The expression "Paradise is not an illusion" is NOT hyperbole. Every minute we spent in the house was sheer delight: Waking to the gentle lap of brilliant turquoise water against rocks in the lagoon. Living in bathing suits and barefeet. Swimming with the locals -- two huge rays, a lazy needlefish, and a team of yellow-striped tropicals. Eating every meal on the deck. Sipping a Kalik or Goombay Smash during spectacular sunsets overlooking our own private aquarium. The peace and simplicity of the house are extraordinary. Its natural wood, spare but cheerful island decor, well-appointed kitchen, large, sparkling bathroom, and comfortable furniture make Bahama Sunset a remarkable getaway. We brought books and music, but the literature and CD's already there could have kept us going for weeks. We wish we'd had weeks, actually. It's never been harder to say goodbye to a place, and reentry is awful. To compound the separation sadness, the house is set in a gem of a village. We met wonderful people in every shop, at the harbor, in church, and along the roads as we explored. Phillip and his ubiquitous family took us in and looked after us thoughtfully. The attractions of quaint/chic Harbour Island had nothing over the authentic loveliness of Gregorytown. How fortunate we are to have found Bahama Sunset. Scott and Wendy, if you're building a place just like it in Costa Rica that you're looking to rent someday, let us know! Many thanks for joyful memories and the best R& R ever! Martha and Gregg

Due to all the wonderfull comments and interesting stories guest have shared with me about Bahama Sunset, Eleuthera,Phillip and the local people, I thought it a good idea to share them with others. I have often been frustrated with continued maintenance and Hurricane repair on my home in the Bahamas. However, all I have to do is pick up the guest book at the house and read all the great things people have experienced at the house and the generall overall feeling of gratitude people share, having been part of a truely remarkable place. I feel blessed to be part of it ! Scott Cahoy

My wife and I were lucky to have found Bahama Sunset a few years ago while looking for a quiet getaway. We were hoping for a nice vacation but we found much more. Bahama Sunset is not just vacation destination, it is a state of mind. The solitude of its location creates a feeling of being suspended above the ocean on an ethereal perch while its beauty and peacefulness allows for quiet contemplation. It's hard to describe the feeling of waking up to a perfectly still ocean at the bottom of the cliff below the house and watching the fish reflecting in the sun as they swim in the lagoon. Or seeing the late afternoon sunset create its amazing orang, pink and blue colors in the sky while rays of diminishing light reflect on the tranquil ocean. As a Photographer the island has been an incredible inspiration to me and my work. The plants, rocks, beaches, ocean and overall beauty has given me so much inspiration that creatively I feel extremely fortunate to have experienced what Bahama Sunset has to offer.
