What a vacation! I have always dreamed of going on vacation to Hawaii and we had the time of our life here. The views from the house were breathtaking. I was able to view the mountains while washing dishes and the ocean from inside the house but I spent all of my time outside on the lawn staring out at the ocean. The beach was incredibly private compared to other beaches that I went to and there were turtles, whales and I even saw a Hawaiian Monk Seal. The house itself has a relaxed hawaiian feel that immediately put you into the vacation mindset and since this was my first time in Hawaii I found that Judy and Larry were the best people to talk too. They gave me the best recommendations for restaurants, beaches and shops and I can't thank them enough for that. I highly recommend this rental to anyone going to Hawaii. Like alot of other people who commented here I too will be coming back to this rental because I know that I will have a fabulous time. Mahalo to Judy and Larry for everything, you are genuine and good people.

My husband and 3 boys stayed for 10 days and found the house was in a quiet neighborhood and with nice access to the beach. We appreciated the use of the snorkeling gear, body boards and life vests for our youngest. While he is a good swimmer, the surf was quite high and could be dangerous. One of the best features about this house is that it is located in about the only place we found on the north shore that had great snorkeling (calmer water due to the reef). We did snorkel at Sharks Cove, but thought it was better at the house. We also saw large sea turtles every time we went out snorkeling which was very amazing! You could swim along side them (just don't touch them). One thing we were disappointed in was that we were looking for a place with an ocean view from the apartment/house. This property is divided into two, but the owners live in the portion facing the ocean while the rental is facing the street/mountains. As a mother, I had wanted to be able to watch my boys on the beach while my husband or I were sitting on the deck/lanai, or even from inside preparing a meal/washing dishes. I had envisioned waking up early and sipping coffee on the deck with my husband while watching the waves. This was not possible. If you are inside, you cannot see the ocean or beach to watch the waves or your children. When booking this property, I had probably miscommunicated what we were looking for. That disappointment aside, it's overall location is great. No traffic noise, great snorkeling, close to the airstrip if you want ski diving or gliding, close to town, close to a coffee manufacturer where we were able to buy 7 pounds of coffee beans right off the mountain. Great coffee!! We also enjoyed the farmers market. We also drove around the north tip to the Polynesian Cultural Center which was not far, and a very memorable experience. We ate dinner one night at Turtle Bay Resort, watched the surfers at the pipeline, and over-all relaxed in the laid back life style of a more authentic Hawaii.
Owner response:Our property has received 36 five star reviews since we started renting on vrbo.com. We take peoples vacations very seriously and are more than willing to answer all their questions prior to them making a decision. Kathleen was deciding between two different properties and was confused about which house had which views. We were very honest and forthright about the property and views which are beautiful ocean views from the ground level covered patio/seating area, BBQ area and yard. There are also views of the ocean from the side window on the 2nd floor with stunning mountain views from other windows. This house has received nothing but glowing reviews from all other renters. Many families have enjoyed this property and several have returned the following year. We have enjoyed meeting and becoming friends with so many families from all over the world and look forward to meeting many more.

Its so hard to even begin to say all the wonderful things about this place! First off, my family and I had a WONDERFUL time and it was everything a vacation to the islands should be. With so many places to chose from the previous comments made my mind up and I am so glad I did...the house is beautiful and spacious and could comfortable fit more than my four family members. The whole prperty was very well maintained and you could see the effort the owners put into it. Judy and Larry were incredible and that extra bonus you never expected. Their input on where to go, what to eat (loved the farmers market!), best beaches for turtles, surfing, snorkeling etc was amazing. Usually you need to spend hours online to find those little gems! The views and the beach where beyond beautiful...I would sit out every morning with my coffee and just look out at the ocean. There are several turtles that hang out close to shore and there were a few days where we saw humpback whales and I one point we were all standing up shouting because they were jumping out of the water again and again and again. It was a special moment for my family to experience together and I will always remember it. If you are looking for a wonderful vacation in Hawaii I can't recommend this place highly enough. I know that I will be back and after everything I have told my friends I bet they are booking here too =)

We traveled with our 3 children ages, 9, 14 and 16, coming back to Oahu to celebrate our 22nd. wedding anniversary. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed by Judy, who instantly made us feel right at home in paradise. This home was much nicer than we expected, with so many extras. We used the kayaks, tried fishing with the rods and equipment and enjoyed the bikes to go for leisurely rides. We spent a lot of time snorkeling right out front and along the nearby beaches swimming with sea turtles and colorful fish. A short bike ride to the local farmers market (recommended by Judy and Larry) we could buy fresh fruit and vegetables and local Waialua coffee beans. This home is located on a very quite street without any sounds of traffic. We had the beach almost entirely to ourselves, other than a few local residents walking by. The location is perfect, only a short 45 minute drive to Waikiki if you want to go shopping or a few minute drive to Haleiwa to pick up groceries or have a great meal at Haleiwa Eats. Some highlights of the trip were, snorkeling at sharks cove, watching surfers ride huge waves at Waimea Bay, hiking to hidden beach where Judy and Larry told us about and short visits to Waikiki for Yogurtland. Barely a day has passed that our family hasn't talked about this dream trip that we had and when we can return..We would recommend this home to anyone. The Dueck Family

Judy & Larry-thank you so much for a fantastic vacation. Even though things were beyond your control regarding us not being able to use your rental, the replacement home you provided for us was absolutely the best!!! The location of this home was perfect and what it offered is exactly what we needed. Your suggestions about things to do & see were very useful. Everybody must try eating at Giovanni's Shrimp truck..really good food at a good price Also, try the Grass Skirt Grill...ahi sandwich. The drive from Honolulu to the N. Shore was an easy drive & we made this trip on 3 different occasions. The North Shore has so much to offer at a laid back pace, which we loved. The drivers on the N. Shore are very considerate of other drivers or people walking across the street. This was our 25th wedding anniversay trip & hopefully sometime in the future we will be able to come back and rent from you again either in your rental or the replacement would be okay with us. Again, thank you for a PERFECT vacation!!!!!!!

The home, surroundings, and beach were exactly as described. Judy and Larry are great homeowners, who are always there but never in your way. It was a great home base to explore Oahu and the North Shore, with a short drive to Honolulu, the Dole Plantation, the Polynesian Cultural Center, and other attractions. Hands down, we will be coming back again!

Judy and Larry offer a beautiful home located right on the water. The layout of the house is open, comfortable, private and relaxing. We spent most of our days touring the island, but you can easily spend many leisurely days just relaxing around the house. We took advantage of snorkeling and swimming, and wished we had a few more days to kayak and bike around. The turtles are plentiful and as much fun to watch as the surfers. Nearby Haleiwa has MANY shops and restaurants to offer. Do try the shrimp trucks, they offer some excellent food at reasonable prices. It's been a very snowy winter in Chicago, so when I need a a respite from the cold, I picture myself sitting in front of the hedges with my delicious cup of Hawaiian coffee, looking out over the surf while the rays of morning sunshine beam down on me. I know that will get me through until April.

Whale watching and other activities were close to the house. Everything was neat and clean, and house has plenty of room. Lots to see and do close by. Overall, very beautiful home and stay. If we had know then what we know now we would have booked our entire vacation at Waialua Beach House. We spent 5 days in crazy Waikiki, and 5 days here. The house was comfortable, quiet, and best of all right on the beach where you could snorkel, swim, paddle, or lay around suntanning. We saw turtles daily. Historic Haleiwa is just a few minutes drive away, where you can watch the surfers or participate in a variety of activities. The owners were terrific. Overall our stay was a terrific experience which we would recommend to anyone.

Aloha - Staying on the North Shore was about as far as you can get from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu. We did our sightseeing and shopping early and relaxed on what seemed like a private, secluded beach 10 feet from the back yard. My wife and I were there for rest and relaxation and we got exactly that! Judy and Larry were wonderful hosts and since we love animals, we meet their friend Sidney. The property is awesome, quiet and plenty large enough. Granted it was just the two of us, but there was room for many more. Our days consisted of getting up, brewing a pot of coffee and having breakfast in the yard listening to the waves crash on the beach. Going south for only one activity for part of the day and being back to sit on the beach in the afternoon. Swim in the ocean or whatever we wanted, there was no one around. For the most part, the farthest end of the island is only 30-45 minutes away. We enjoyed our stay at this property so much, I now am trying to figure out if we can do two weeks around the same time in 2011, if not then, early 2012. Everything written about this property was spot on, the owners live next door, so if anything goes wrong, it can be addressed immediately. No calling a rental agent and having to wait. If you are a LOST fan, you will find the area very interesting - We stayed away from most of the tourist haunts in favor of being on the beach in the afternoon. We explored the island by car and drove every major highway and many minors as well. The trip from Honolulu back to the property along the east coast was breathtaking. We cooked most of our meals which saved on the overall cost of the trip. Do your food shopping on your way from the airport near the Home Depot in Pearl City - less expensive than when you are closer to the property - Your see the orange sign off of H1. I would recommend staying here to the point of I am doing a spreadsheet to estimate the cost and how we can make it happen again. My wife and I am looking forward to another trip- We now watch Hawaii 5-0 because we recognize just about every part of the island. Seeing these sights and hearing the sounds are just calling us back - this will be the property we will stay at. Mahalo Judy, Larry and Sidney too! Aloha Mele Kalikimaka

We brought our kids here for two weeks in August 2010 and had a great time. The beach is clean and quiet and right out the door. We took advantage of the grill, kayaks, washer/dryer, and kitchen which allowed us to save some money for other things. Judy was great and left you alone but was always just a call away. There is plenty of room for a family, with two bedrooms and a full bath upstairs, and a 3rd bedroom, full bath, spacious living room (with Futon) and kitchen/dining area downstairs. More than one in the kitchen is a little tight, but thats what the grill is for. The location is well away from the crowds of Waikiki, but there is quick and easy access to everything the island has to offer with a quick shot down the H2 if you so desire. If not, stay right there and enjoy snorkeling and kayaking the reef protected bay. We saw turtles every day, often coming up within a few feet of where we were standing if we were still. We really enjoyed our stay and have no reservations about recommending this spot to anyone, and would love to go back ourselves.

I stayed in this home in July 2010, and it was perfect. I would have been happy to just sit outside the house on the beach each day. Because it was away from all the major tourist stops, there were tons of sea turtles that swam right outside the house all day. The snorkeling gear was free for us to use whenever we wanted, so we had so much fun running out to swim with the turtles. There were tons of fish to see while we were snorkeling right outside the house, too. The kayaks were a lot of fun to use. We took them out in the ocean to watch the sun set in the evenings, which was BEAUTIFUL! The house was perfect and roomy. Judy, the owner of the home, was really nice and available to us whenever we had questions. She provided lots of great advice for places to see or good restaurants. There was a grill available to us, which was perfect for grilling the fresh pineapple we picked up during our stay on the island. There were beach towels and bath towels for us to use. The house had plenty of silverware and dishes and cooking utensils. The home was close to a small tourist town that had tons of activities, shops, and places to eat. If I have the opportunity to visit O'ahu again, I would definitely stay in this home again.

The owner was extremely outgoing and offered suggestions on sights to see in the area. The house is really close to the almost private beach. I couldn't believe how many fish and turtles we could see while snorkeling in the backyard! We really appreciated the use of the snorkels, bikes, kayaks, beach toys, beach chairs, towels, and even water shoes! We took a day of our vacation to just hang out on the beach behind the rental. The location was perfect for us as we wanted an alternative to touristy Waikiki or Turtle Bay. We were able to save money by cooking but when we did eat out, the town of Haleiwa was less than 4 miles away and provided tasty choices and cute shops. Thank you for providing a piece of paradise for a week!

We had a wonderful time in this very nice home. Our 3 kids (10, 8, 6)enjoyed the layout of the home and the easy access to the beach. We were a bit suprised to find that we couldn't see the ocean from inside the house, but it was a quick step out the door to be right on the beach. We enjoyed being so close to Haliewa and found lots of fun things to do in town, the farmer's market on Sunday, Shave Ice, a local grocery store that wasn't outrageously priced, Haliewa beach park revealed a beautiful sunset over the water and several giant turtles beached in the evening. You can't quite see the sun go down from your backyard but a quick walk down the beach or hop in the kayaks and it's a great view. We loved the fact that there were water toys, coolers and beach mats, and life jackets for the kids. This was very comforting as we spent lots of time playing in the water and body-surfing the waves at Three Tables Beach and Wiamea Bay. Wiamea Falls was fun too. Judy was very helpful and a wonderful hostess when we ran into her. We would stay here again!

This is an awesome place to stay and the kayaks and bikes just add to the experience. Your hosts Judy and Larry (and Sidney) are great folks and are as helpfull as you want. Our family really enjoyed talking to them both and they pointed out great places to see and eat. The beach is just out the front door and through a gate access and we got some really nice sunset pictures. Turtles cruisin all over the place and this location is private with NO crowds, just locals. The small town of Haleiwa is within 10 minutes and has everything you need from shopping to restaurants. The town reminded me a bit of the 60's and has a real nice feel. Our kids took surfing lessons from Tom of the Surf and Sea Surf Shop and he was really great getting them both up on the boards many times during the lesson and they even did better when we reached Maui, what a blast... The house has everything you need to cook, plenty of DVD's around the house and cable channels to please everyone. Great to have coffee on the lawn facing the ocean and we had some nice walks along the beach. There are three hand made surfboards decorating the interior walls made by Larry himself. Larry makes the most beautiful boards by hand, what a great skill to have... The house was perfect with several futons in the living area in case the kids wanted to stretch out. There is a nice mix of snorkeling masks, snorkels and fins, several boogey boards and various other ocean fun things. They also supply several fishing poles, if your so inclined, and a couple of ice chests and beach mats, everything to make your stay perfect... The beaches get way more crowded as you leave Haleiwa going north/northeast towards Sunset Beach so we recommend trying the beaches towards Dillingham Airfield to the west. They are great beaches and not many folks are there, except locals. We all had a wonderful time and are already missing this great place. Judy and Larry live in paradise and we look forward to seeing you in the future...aloha from AZ...

Judy and Larry were great hosts - very helpful when needed but definitely let us enjoy the place by ourselves.

Our vacation in Waialua on the North Shore of Oahu was great! We really enjoyed staying here, away from the crowded cities. The accomodations are excellent, very well kept and clean! Having coffee in the morning watching the the sun come up, the turtles and surf was awesome!!! Using the equipment provided by our gracious hosts, we did kayaking (with the turtles!), snorkling, bike riding and swimming in surf. Also enjoyed grilling out on the patio and just relaxing. The town of Haleiwa is just minutes away for great shopping and resturants. The harbor of Haleiwa offers great off-shore fishing were we caught some Mahi-Mahi and Ono. It was wonderful to cook up some fresh fish on the grill!! Numerous beaches along the North Shore to enjoy. Larry and Judy are wonderful hosts!! Larry and Judy, hope you had the chance to enjoy the Ono fillets as much as we did. Our daughter Rachael enjoyed every minute of the time we spent there and is still talking of it!!! Thank you for sharing your wonderful place with us! Mahalo!

The hard part about writing this is not being redundant; every prior comment is accurate as is the property description. For us, travelling with two teenagers, it was perfect. The location is very close to the best North Shore beaches while having the quickest possible access to the rest of Oahu. If you don't want to go anywhere, your front yard is on a secluded and empty beach, and everything you may want to enjoy it is there at your disposal. We could not have found a better place for our vacation, and Larry and Judy are wonderful hosts.

Hi, Judy We had a wonderful stay in June, our son is still talking about the great time we all had and how relaxing it was. We loved the quiet area and being able to hear and see the ocean . To just walk out the door and be in the ocean so quick was great. Having all the toys and gear to play with also made things easier and more fun. We think that your photos and listing really understate how nice it is. This was Brandon's first time snorkeling, and it is a nice area, especially for a beginner. We loved being able to swim with all the fish and especially all the Turtles. You and Larry are great hosts and made us feel right at home. We enjoyed our evening talks and your recommendations. We hope to see you in the future. Mahalo

If you want to experience the real Oahu without all the crowds and traffic of Waikiki and Honolulu, STOP your search right here because this is the place for you! As a US Navy Captain, I have spent much time working and living on Oahu over the past 20+ years but it was all around the Pearl Harbor area. Early this past July, I had 2 week TAD orders to Schofield Barracks and to my surprise, they didn’t have adequate government housing so I was extremely fortunate to book Judy’s fantastic beach front house for just a little over the per Diem rate (don’t worry taxpayers, I made up the difference). My mother and two sisters joined me and they had a great time relaxing and enjoying a more laid back North Shore. The property is as advertised and well maintained. Judy and Larry are very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. You can’t go wrong by reserving this place now!

The property is gorgeous and we spent a lot of time on the lanai overlooking the yard and water. The house is well-equipped and there was plenty of room for the four of us. Judy and Larry, the owners/caretakers are so friendly and helpful with our questions and offered great suggestions for things to do and places to see (and places to eat!) We've been back from paradise a couple of weeks now and have had the time to reflect on just how fortunate we were to stay in such a wonderful location. Judy & Larry are wonderful hosts, the house was spotlessly clean and well appointed and the location - spectacular. Our family of 5 spent 2 weeks at this property during May 08 and were honoured to be the first ever Aussies to stay there. We can highly recommend this property to other like minded travellers who want to avoid the crowds of Waikiki and really experience a relaxing Hawaiian holiday. Every day we swam, snorkelled, and kayaked with the turtles just metres from our back door, and we all made great use of the bikes - riding into Haleiwa, to the farmers markets at the sugar mill and along the bike track to explore other beaches. BBQ's and drinks under the lanai were a regular afternoon activity - just enjoying the cool breeze while the kids swam with the turtles some more. Please email me if you have any questions - I'd be happy to reply. Thanks again Judy & Larry!

We truly enjoyed the peace and serenity of the home and the area, but mostly enjoyed just sitting on the shore catching glimpses of the whales in the distance and being greeted by the sea turtles. Our family of 4 had a wonderful time at this beautiful property. It was so relaxing, directly on the sandy beach with a green lawn to the sand; thelanai was very pretty, out of the sun and comfortable. Incredible breezes and weather in late June and early July. The owners/caretakers were so nice, helpful and informative, and not at all intrusive, just welcoming and great to ask questions of. Our teenaged boys loved the location, and it was great to have kayaks and snorkeling right there so we didn't have to go anywhere if we didn't want to.the snorkeling was good in front of the house, lots of fish and turtles. So relaxing and beautiful, I wish we could go back again soon. The house itself was spacious and comfortable and clean, kitchen was outfitted well.

We stayed here for one week in September 2007 with Tom and Deb and had the best vacation ever. We were very pleased with the location, the accomdations and the owners. What could be better than starting your day at the ocean edge, seeing beautiful rainbows and the clear water. We used the equipment which was great of the owners to provide. The North Shore is the best - away from the crowded cities. We most have visited every beach on the island. The second week we took a cruise and a cruise doesn't take a candle to the week we had at this VRBO. I'd do it again in a minute. Sincerely, Martin and Cathy

Our family of six stayed for two weeks in September. We could have stayed longer! After a long day at the beach it was nice to have a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home to relax in. We all had our space. Great property and location. We love the town and the whole North Shore experience. The care takers are great people. The North Shore is a very friendly beach town with much aloha, We will be back !

Our group of 4 thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property! The onsight owners were wonderful, so pleasant and their knowledge of the area added to our vacation experiences. We enjoyed our morning coffee and juice out in the yard watching the waves roll in- beautiful! We used the provided kayaks and snorkeling equipment and had a great time learning to use it. So many other activities and places to visit were close by and the area is peaceful, safe and clean. We would visit again and highly recommend this as a great vacation spot.

Beautiful beach and beautiful property made this a perfect vacation for our family. Just a short 5 minute drive to town, yet you feel like you are away from it all. Owners are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. We could not reccomend this property highly enough. If you are coming to Hawaii, this is the true paradise!

Our family of seven had a great time at this property which is located across a beautiful grassy yard right on the beach. Great ocean views! We had our morning coffee and dinner on the padio overlooking the ocean! The propery is well maintained, spacious and very clean and comfortable. The caretakers were friendly and helpful. They were available for questions and they shared their knowledge of the area as well as their play equipment with us. This beach is peaceful and clean and most of the time we had it to ourselves! The town is small and quiet, but we had easy access to all the tourist/historical spots, shopping and airport. Perfect rental for families who want a private and safe home and beach to unwind and relax. We would HIGHLY recommend this property!! We left with wonderful memories and new friends!!

This place was amazing! Every morning I would walk out into the yard with my coffee and watch the turtles in the break and marvel that I had found such a wonderful place to vacation. I was able to really relax and slow down. I had gone there with all these plans to go" here" and do "that" but once I saw the place all I wanted to do was go the private beach and relax. Shopping and waves were only a few minutes away! The caretakers were fantastic and extremely helpful. I would recommend staying here to anyone and everyone!

Our family vacation to the north shore of Oahu was one of our best vacations ever. We felt so at home. We had everything we needed. There are so may extras included like the use of the kayaks and bikes. The whole family enjoyed using all the watersport equipment. The caretakers are so friendly that it truly enhanced our vacation. We have already planned to visit again next year. R. Kenner
