Five-bedroom cottage on all-sports Wamplers Lake in the Irish Hills. We are on the eastern shore, which means sandy bottom and spectacular sunsets. Eight-hundred-acre lake is all-sports, ideal for swimming, waterskiing, jetskiing, or just cruising on your pontoon boat. Perfect for kids--water is knee-high on adults even 50 feet out, and the bottom is total sand. Great (stocked) fishing, too, including large and smallmouth bass, pike, and pan fish.
Watch the sun set every evening from our sun porch. At night, roast marshmallows around the firepit as the stars come out over the placid water.
Jerry's Restaurant--famous for its quality and variety--is located on the south shore, a five-minute car ride or two minutes by water. They have evening entertainment many nights during the summer. The cottage is also close to MIS, MSU's Hidden Gardens, Hayes State Park, a handful of antique stores, and several golf and putt-putt courses.
As far as the layout of the house, there are four bedrooms and a half-bath upstairs. Three of the bedrooms have double beds, and the kids room has a twin, a double, and bunks. The fifth bedroom is downstairs (a queen), with extra sleeping available on the sunporch futon. Also downstairs is the main bath with toilet, sink, and shower stall. There is also a living room looking out on the lake, with a gas fireplace.
Bring your own boat or use our pedal boat. Lake access is at Hayes State Park -- just one mile from the cottage.

Why the Owner Chose Brooklyn
Wamplers Lake is ideal for watersports -- there is almost always a calm spot for skiing. The fishing is plentiful. It is very social and friendly, with people walking up and down Shoreline Drive all day. Jerry's is a great restaurant so close you could almost swim to it. The sunsets are spectacular. The water is clean and warm, and the bottom has no muck. As lake living goes, it has just about everything one could want.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
People love our sunporch. It is large, has a 180 degree view of the lake, and is brightly lit all day long. The cottage itself is vintage, with plenty of character, and we've also recently repainted and wallpapered every surface in the whole place, plus new carpet, new furniture, etc.
Owner's Map of Brooklyn
This is our family cottage -- which we dearly love -- and which we're happy to be able to share with other families who enjoy the water and spending time together. We live about an hour from the lake, and spend several weeks here a year. We have two small children (and many neices and nephews) who have learned to swim and waterski here since we bought the place in 2005. Every year, we try to add something new and better, and every year we have some of the same families come back and stay with us. We're happy to help create wonderful memories for so many!

This is my husband's and I fourth time renting this cottage with our friends. We love this place by the water and the beautiful sunsets. Perfect little getaway to relax.
