This is an elegant, shingle-style, Victorian home in quiet Newagen at the southern tip of Southport Island, Maine, just 15 minutes from Boothbay Harbor. The original home was built in the late 1880's with a modern addition completed in 1997.
In addition to a fully equipped, gourmet kitchen, there is a cozy living room with a fireplace and comfortable seating. and a large dining area which seats eight and overlooks a lovely inlet and a wooded backyard where you may glimpse deer and other wildlife. A large deck also affords views across the inlet into Boothbay Harbor.
It is a short stroll to lovely Newagen Harbor and the charming Southport Memorial Library which is well stocked with books and videos/DVDs. Kayak rentals are available nearby and tennis courts may be reserved for a small fee at Newagen Seaside Inn.
Several nearby inns offer excellent meals. In addition, local lobsters are available both live and cooked at a working lobster dock. There is also a well supplied general store that offers incredible pizza and deli sandwiches. |
