Windimere - Excellent Stay in Bar Harbor

The house is more attractive than the pictures, very nice inside, and a great location. It is short three block walk to downtown Bar Harbor. Bar Harbor is terrific for tourists: plenty of restaurants, shops, activities, the ocean and a main stop for buses that take you to Acadia NP and all over Mt. Dessert Island. Everything in the house was clean and working. We were comfortable with 3 couples and 2 children under 3 years. Plenty of room for our luggage. Well off the street for a quiet night. We had one vehicle, but there was room for at least two more. Owner/manager was very hospitable and took care of our request for a child's high chair quickly. I would recommend this property to my best friends and will go back when we have a similar size group.

This was a great house. We had my mother in law and our 4 year old daughter and it was the perfect house for all of us. We had a great time being able to walk to town and a large yard for her to play in. Thank you so much for sharing your home. It was a great time.

Our family of 5 adults and 2 boys aged 8 and 5 thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Windimere in early August. This was our 6th summer visit to MDI and there was general agreement that this was the best of all the places we had stayed in past years. The web page gave a very good introduction to the house but could not do it complete justice. Bob, the owner, was very welcoming and helpful. It was reassuring to know that he was available during the day at the B&B directly in front. The boys loved the yard which was plenty big enough for running around. There were toys, books and games in their room which kept them very happy while inside. Most of the day was spent enjoying the trails of Acadia but it was nice to have contented children in the evening. And contented adults too - the large screen TV was a great relaxer as was the spa tub. We all slept extremely well and appreciated staying in such attractive and well maintained surroundings. We all also enjoyed being able to walk around town at will - to church, to the supermarket, to restaurants, the Shore Path, and most importantly to the wonderful Explorer buses which would take you just about anywhere on the island. When you did need to drive, the biggest benefit to Windimere's location became apparent to me - you were able to take a right hand turn out of the driveway and - with very little effort and stress - avoid the center of town entirely. I loved it. One last word about weather. This was the rainiest week we had ever experienced in BH. It kept no one inside for very long but two places to visit which are very close to Windimere are the Historical Society and the Library. Both are excellent and well worth a visit even when the sun shines.

Windimere's pictures do not do this home justice. Every room was tastefully decorated and it was stocked with everything a person could need from linens to fully stocked kitchen. I was thrilled with my family’s stay which included my husband, my two daughters and their husbands and my two grandsons. The home was very clean and extremely spacious with every amenity. The master bedroom is unbelievable! Bob, the owner was so kind and helpful. The house sits behind the owner's Inn; it is a very secluded property while still downtown Bar Harbor. I highly recommend anyone renting this house.

We stayed a week with 4 adults and 4 kids (ages 3-11) and we had a great time. The house is in such a great location! It was clean and comfortable. Ample parking-- the home is set back from the road too so it was quiet and I had no fear of the kids playing in the front yard. Had a great weber grill out there. Two things I'm particular about: mattresses and water pressure... The Windimere had fabulous beds! No hand-me-down, worn out mattresses in this vacation home. The beds were all comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was strong too! The host was kind and accommodating. He also had the place stocked with dish and laundry detergent, napkins, papertowels, trash bags etc-- so I didn't have to purchase those supplies. We've visited Bar Harbor 5 or 6 times, this was by far the best place we've stayed. Would not hesitate to recommend it!
