Accommodations: Upper Villa, Studio & Cottage, 5 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 4 Baths (Sleeps 6-14)
Available accommodation: "Warm Breezes" -- the three-bedroom, two-bath luxury suite with private pool(sleeps six); "The Artist's Studio" -- perfect for a young family; an adjoining (or separate) one-bedroom apartment with fantastic sea view; "Sweet Nest" -- Cozy Cottage with private verandah, which is separate and self-contained, an ideal honeymoon suite.
"Hibiscus Heights" can be booked as a whole unit, or individually as separate apartments. It is located in the Grafton area, on a scenic ridge overlooking the Caribbean Sea, away from the crowds of the lower-lying tourist districts. Crown Point Airport is a 10-minute drive away, but owners of this home are pleased to greet and personally see off their guests. Car rentals can also easily be arranged beforehand.
At "Hibiscus Heights" each living area or self-contained rental unit has a telephone, wireless access, cable TV, a lock-box for valuables, house-keeping included, and all kitchens are fitted and equipped with modern appliances and utensils. This is an ideal setting, not to mention the most economical choice, for large groups who want to be close but at the end of the day still have their own space.
Why has Tobago been hailed worldwide as a premiere 'eco-tourism' destination?
Well, Tobago is not a volcanic island like most of the other Caribbean islands. Once a part of South America, many of the same species of plants and animals found on that continent abound here. So - whether you're biking or 'booting it' through Tobago's majestic rain forests, strolling along one of the island's many sanctuary trails, or simply reflecting amidst the radiant colors of Scarborough's well-groomed Botanic Gardens - you'll see: beautiful beaches are only a small part of what this tropical isle has to offer.
Its exquisite reefs are home to an explosion of marine life, making the best diving and snorkeling experiences frequent happenings in and around Tobago's waters.
Since 1776, the island's Main Ridge Forest Reserve has been legally protected, making it the first tropical rainforest to be legally protected in the western hemisphere.
Tobago is one of the few places left in the world to which six species of endangered and "critically" endangered sea turtles return, each spring, to lay their eggs.
Yes ... Islanders really have every right to be proud. But boastful? Never! Tobagonians are far too modest, a truly happy-go-lucky people who have become so used to sharing their home with visitors that they know how to be welcoming without being intrusive.
Warning, Warning: the pace here is relaxed, far from frantic, with people actually taking the time to wish you a good morning and 'night'. Be prepared, yet rest assured: Tobago is also a place where you will find most of your back-home favorites, plus fine wines and premium alcohol, in the larger grocery stores.
Description of units available for long or short-term rental:
ON THE TOP LEVEL - offering spacious living for six people, this impressive three-bedroom, two-bath villa has a huge wrap-around verandah (over 125 ft.) for viewing the turquoise sea, and old-time wooden shutters with high ceilings for catching the warm breezes.
The large and airy master bedroom has a king-sized bed, walk-in closet, and en-suite bathroom. The other two guest bedrooms have queen-sized beds, high ceilings, and are also quite roomy. All beds are four-poster - very romantic - with firm mattresses for many restful sleeps.
There is an open living/dining area and the kitchen is immaculate.
All rooms are tastefully decorated, many pieces of furniture having been hand-made by craftsmen in the region.
There is a swimming pool at the back, surrounded by a sun-terrace, to which guests of this top villa have exclusive access. Set off the kitchen and equipped with a comfy patio set and loungers, it is ideal for al fresco dining after dark.
ON THE SECOND/GROUND LEVEL - there are two self-contained apartments - a spacious artist's studio; the other, the one-bedroom apartment, has a fantastic seaview.
Separate Accommodation on property also available: A cozy self-contained cottage sits snuggled in its own mini banana plantation, a perfect honeymoon suite. Especially since booking "Hibiscus Heights" as a whole unit would certainly leave you lots to spend on a Caribbean reception. Why not go for one of those "theme" weddings -- underwater, maybe? -- which have recently become so popular and that are now being offered in the area?

- Tobago hosted its first Jazz Festival in 2005 and it was such a huge success, with big-name stars like Sting and P Didee, that it's since been an annual event. And hopefully, one day, it'll become an institution, just as the long-standing "Sunday School" street-pan party, held weekly in Buccoo, has. Maybe even more than Carnival -- a far more intense celebration in Trinidad, Tobago's sister isle -- the Jazz Festival promises to be one of this island's most popular events; a place where locals and visitors can interact, people-watch, just join in a really big jam session. To be there for Tobago's third annual Jazz Festival -- with Stevie Wonder and Elton John on 2007's V.I.P. list -- guests are advised to book early or risk being disappointed. Other Activities: Yoga, Tai-chi & Stretch Classes, Holistic Treatments & Massages are all offered nearby, at Kariwak Village Hotel.
