Sundance is a lovingly cared-for cottage from which you can quickly access the beach, explore the island or simply relax on the porch in a rocking chair and watch the sunset. This cottage is located in the popular Flora’s Bluff area on the South Beach of Bald Head Island. Nestled on one of the highest points of the island, you are treated to ocean views from both levels of the cottage, with two porches facing the ocean. Being located high on the dune ridge, you will experience incredible views of the sunset in the front of the cottage (over the Atlantic Ocean) and the sunrise at the back of the cottage (over the semi-tropical Maritime Forest). Beach access is less than 2 minutes by foot or by a short golf cart ride.
The cottage has 2 bedrooms and 2.5 baths (6 people max occupancy) in a traditional two-story layout. On the first floor, you will find an open floor plan with a well equipped kitchen, a dining area, a living room area, a half bathroom, and a full sized washer/dryer enclave. Off of the living area there is a covered porch directly facing the ocean. The living area has two full-sized couches, one of which is a sofa sleeper (queen). Upstairs you will find two bedrooms, both with full bathrooms and ample closets. The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed and a deck facing the ocean. This is a beautiful spot to watch the sunset and to star gaze on a clear night. The second bedroom has two full-sized beds and a view overlooking the canopy of the maritime forest. The cottage includes a portable crib, a high chair and many items for children. Bed linens, bath linens and cleaning are included in your rental fees.
One of many treasures of the island is the “golf cart only” transportation policy, which creates a slower pace and makes your stay feel longer and more relaxing. You begin your visit to Bald Head Island with a 25 minute ferry ride, leaving your vehicle on the mainland. Upon arrival to the island, you are taken to the cottage via a tram service. Once settled in, you can explore the beautiful island using a golf cart or the beach bikes that are included with the cottage.
In addition to fourteen miles of beautiful beaches, Bald Head Island offers unique environmental diversity including marshland and the semi-tropical maritime forest. The marsh and forest environments have a walking trail. There are seasonal and nature activities offered throughout the year by the Bald Head Island Conservancy. The Old Baldy Lighthouse is a landmark not to be missed!
Temporary membership to one of the two clubs on the island - the Shoals Club or the Bald Head Island Club - is included in the rental rate. Guests may chose which club is included and may add a temporary membership for the second club for an additional fee. Temporary memberships will be prearranged for your pick up on the island. Both clubs offer fine dining throughout the year. Recreation events & programs are offered during the summer and major holidays. The option to golf at the George Cobb-designed 18-hole Golf Course at the Bald Head Island Club is included with your temporary membership but will require additional greens fees. In addition to the clubs, there is a grocery and café at the Maritime Marketplace and quaint stores.

This house was amazing. We just returned from a weeklong stay at Sundance on BHI. The owner's description, care of the home, and hospitality were perfect. There are two carts, many beach chairs (all in great condition), bikes (all in great condition), a beautiful view from the shade most of the day from the lower porch, and all packaged in the best location on Bald Head... minutes from Shoals and the market and 3 minute walk downhill to the beach. The kitchen was very well stocked, the washer/dryer looked brand new, the grill worked perfectly, and there were games and books available. I cannot say enough about how easy the owners made this rental. If pressed, the ONLY suggestion I would have is a king sized bed in the master. We loved this home.

Great cottage at a great price! Every single thing about out three day stay in "Sundance" on Skye Crescent was wonderful. Whether we were sitting indoors or sitting in the rocking chairs on the porch overlookiing the ocean we felt right at home and loved being there. To top it off the owners are wonderful people and were always happy to answer our questions about Bald Head when we called them. We will definitely be staying in Sundance on Skye Crescent again. We were also amazed on how temperate and pleasant the weather was in mid November. We felt very comfortable riding bikes or walking on the beach in our shorts and flip flops.

"What a beautiful way to spend Thanksgiving." This was the perfect home for our family of four. It is nicely decorated, spacious, very clean and well equipped. The kitchen had every gadget you could ask for if you like to cook. (I do) The beds were so comfortable and a wonderful size to make room for friends or grandparents to join you. The owners clearly love children and have made their home especially child friendly. Lot's of games, puzzles, puppets, books, movies and treats for the children. All placed neatly and labeled in the closet if you want or need them. Next time we visit, we plan to leave our toys at home as they have met any possible need for entertainment on rainy or chilly days. We were treated like family by the owners with GREAT communication before and after our stay. They had many suggestions for how to spend our time and directed us in such a helpful manner. We found every suggestion to be spot on. The views from this house are stunning, especially at sunset. We enjoyed the rockers and a marvelous and almost steady breeze on top of Flora's Bluff. We missed having a fire on those chilly fall days, but enjoy so much about the shore in the late fall. We all appreciated the gracious hospitality and the extra touches that made us feel at home in your home. We hope to return next fall.
