Our family had a fantastic vacation in this Summerwind cottage! We have stayed in other Summerwind units in the past, but this was by far the nicest! The remodeling and upgrades were awesome. The screened-in porch was a fabulous extension of the outdoors. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and completely bug-free! We made some wonderful memories here for a perfect end to our summer!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Such a great week. Second time staying in this house. The bikes were great. Access to coolers, toys and chairs was so helpful. Great family to work with. The rooms were clean and well appointed. We will rent again from them next year.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

This was our first time visiting Seabrook Island and we absolutely loved it! The accomodations were just as described, very well equipped, clean and we would highly recommend it. My only suggestion would be that it would be nice if there was a basket available for one of the bikes to keep keys, maps and affinity card readily accessible. So as you can see, not really much to complain about! Thanks for sharing your home.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for staying at our home during your getaway. We love to hear back from our guests so we know what things would make the stay more enjoyable for them. Your comment about the bicycle basket made me realize that I should add information to the Welcome Packet so guests can easily locate them; we keep them in the enclosed area adjacent to the bikes in hopes of making them last longer! I regret that you did not know where to look for them. Thanks for the review!

Tranquil – Comfortable - Convenient: We wished we had time to stay at this Seabrook Villa at least one week. Regrettably, our stay was limited to a quick weekend getaway and we did not want to leave. Everything exceeded our expectations! The house is equipped with everything that guests could possibly need or want a fully equipped kitchen, lovely dining area and living room, and patio with tranquil surroundings. Our "girls" travel group of educators were so pleased with the Villa lay out and all the amenities available. With the Charleston area accessible by a short drive away, we were able to visit historical sites and, of course, shopping in Charleston and within the immediate area. It was so great to be able to return to tranquility, comfort and a well-appointed "home away from home" of the Summerwind Villa. The Villa with ample living space for the five of us met all our needs and expectations. Plus, the view island is spectacular! We highly recommend these accommodations to anyone who would like the comfortable environment of a home away from home. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at your Summerwind cottage. The weather was absolutely beautiful. The home contained so many extras from the outside shower, bikes, extra sheets, to a place where we can put away all our groceries! I can't tell you how mnay places we have stayed where there was no place to put the groceries away. You have a beautiful place and we'll be back!Did you find this review helpful? My family and I vacationed at this home in late September. We had a wonderful visit! The property was well maintained and very comfortably furnished. We found it to be just as nice as the photos and description represent it to be. The owners were friendly and easy to work with. They even helped us work out the details so we could enjoy a bonfire on the beach one evening! The new kitchen space is lovely and very well stocked. The bathrooms were nice (especially the master shower) and there was plenty of sleeping space for us all. We had great weather while we were there, and spent lots of time enjoying the large screened porch. Having bicycles available for us to use was such a nice ammenity! We rode them almost every day. The beach club and pool area is wonderful as well. The staff was friendly, the food was good and the scenery was breathtaking. I just love Seabrooke Island and all it has to offer! We will definitely vacation at this home again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
Owner response: We are always interested to hear about the stays of our guests; it is especially gratifying when guests share their memories of the wonderful time they had at the house and on the island. Thank you!

Island amenities and location of property were great. Access to cycling, amenities, beach, and off island activities exceeded expectations. A couple of issues were of the magnitude that were not acceptable to my family. For starters upon arrival a basket at the front door contained an old towel, and some trash. I always say "You never get a second chance to make a first impression". We arrived after a long drive on one of the hottest days of the year. When we entered we very quickly realized the AC was not on. According to the thermostat it was 89 degrees in the house. It took approx 18 hours to cool the house to an acceptable temperature. After we unpacked in the sweltering heat we left until later that evening expecting the temperature to be more tolerable. It was not. Sleeping with the overhead fan on and the one we brought helped somewhat. It did cool down the next day and maintain its temperature forward. Upon arrival and throughout the stay we encountered not one or two but 12 very large robust and active roaches. Crawling on our belongings in the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and living room. Each time we cooked we sterilized the pots, pans and utensils. In fact several roaches appeared mid-evening while we were watching TV. Crawled under our feet and through the living room until I could track them down and kill them. I was born and raised in Florida, travel a lot and have never encountered an infestation like this in a rental property. We had to watch our step and check the bed every night before we crawled in. The owner was called and did return our call promptly, and promised that an exterminator would come out and take care of the problem right away. And she apologized for the AC issue. Five or six days later, an exterminator called us to gain access to the home to spray. We had already arrived home from our trip 4 days earlier. The owner was advised and apologized again. I contacted the owner detailing our disappointment and even suggested compensation in the form of a reasonable refund of at least one day. No offer at first and then an offer was made to stay one night free upon our return. That was not an option considering what we had been through, and the mere fact that we will not be returning to that property. We gave the owner ample notice to rectify the problem. She asked why we didnt call earlier. It wouldnt have mattered, the exterminator never came. We do recommend selecting another property for your stay.Owner response: For the past four years, many families have stayed at our villa. This is the first negative review or comment we've received. We have guests who return year after year, including a long term off-season guest who will return again this winter for seven weeks! We employ a professional housekeeper who does an excellent job of keeping the villa very clean with a thorough four hour cleaning between guests. In our guest welcome packet we make the following request: “ While our housekeeper is quite thorough and professional, we ask that upon entering the home for the first time you inspect the rooms to ensure cleanliness. If anything is not satisfactory, please report it immediately. ” Unfortunately, this guest called on the fifth day of a seven day stay, leaving a very short window for addressing his concern. Nonetheless, an exterminator was called immediately to arrive the following morning. We were not notified when this visit did not occur as expected. Again, we cannot fix what we are not aware of. The housekeeper did not see a problem while cleaning following the departure of this guest; however, a thorough spray was done just to be safe. Regarding the air conditioner, our policy is for the thermostat to be set at energy-saving levels when guests are not in the home. The summer setting for air conditioning is 80 degrees; the home typically cools down very quickly from this setting. We make every effort to keep the home maintained and up to date. The bathrooms and kitchen were renovated last fall, new furnishings have recently been put in place, and linens are replaced regularly. We take pride in providing guests an enjoyable vacation with impeccable service. Look at the other reviews and you will see that our guests over the past four years confirm this to be the case. Those reviews are quite favorable, reflecting the happiness of contented guests. We are confident you will enjoy your stay.

Our family visited last summer and had an amazing trip. The home excceeded our expectations! The house was soooo kid friendly-equipped with a wagon, beach toys, outdoor shower, board games and a porch. It was big enough for our family of five and a set of inlaws who stayed on their own "side" of the house. The island is spectacular! It is very family oriented-pools, beach, beautiful beaches and restaurants. I highly recommend it!!!!Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We had a marvelous time and your cottage is fantastic!!! My sister could not get over the furnishings and the way you have it decorated. I believe Seabrook may become a "annual event" - there was not one thing we looked for that we could not find - you have stocked the place very well and I love your cookware. I had never cooked on gas before and found I really like it. The shower in the master room is to die for. Also, the watermelon was wonderful - thanks again for leaving it for us. We will definitely recommend your place and Seabrook to all our friends and family!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

this villa on Sea Brook Island was clean and decorated adorable, remolded kitchen, we had a great new shower in the master bath. TV in each bedroom. We had bikes to enjoy and great chairs and toys for the beach. This was one of the best vacations I have had!!! I cannot wait to rent this villa next year!!!!!! I recommend renting this place to anyone looking for a nice place to go, the Edmistons were very helpful with our touring plans in Charleston.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I along with our children and their families thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your Villa and Seabrook Island. Your home is lovely and it served our needs quite well and was in a great location on the island. I have to add that Seabrook is all you said it would be and indeed one of the most beautiful places we've vacationed. Two years ago we spent the same type vacation at Harbor Island with our family, but have to say that this vacation when it comes to scenery of the island to the wildlife and the beaches along with other amenities was far better. Seabrook Island Rd. is one of the prettiest roads in South Carolina if not the prettiest and the Seabrook Island Club pools and beach area along with the Pelican's Nest restaurant couldn't be beat and were an easy trip by car or bike from your villa. The hamburger at The Pelican's Nest is the best I think I've ever eaten.....and I've eaten quite a few over the years. I thank you so much for sharing your home with us for what was a truly nice vacation for our family. I also appreciate the extra info. concerning the island you made available along with the bicycles provided for your guests and want you to know that we will definitely keep your home in mind for any future trips to Seabrook Island.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This is about my 15th time staying on the island and this property ranks high in my book. The villa was perfect for my family this trip (4 adults and 3 children!) It was clean, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well supplied, and the screened-in porch a dream! We enjoyed the use of the bicycles, boogey boards, beach chairs, wagon, and sand toys. The shower downstairs made for an easier return home to rinse away much of the sand from the beach. The owner was true to their words of what their property offered to their renters. No surprises which makes for a good relaxing vacation! In a heartbeat I would recommend this property to family and friends and hope to return again on our next trip down!Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Recently stayed at this cottage and our family totally enjoyed our visit to Seabrook. Cottage is conveniently located to all beach areas -- we especially liked the Atlantic Beaches. Having the bicycles available was also a plus -- we biked everywhere and loved that they have kept all the mature trees on the island. The cottage was well appointed and stocked with everything anyone would need for a beach vacation. My son resides in the Charleston area and we will definitely return to this Summerwind Cottage.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Summerwind Cottage was great for our family for a week. It slept 4 adults and 4 kids great, although the 3rd bedroom was a bit tight. Being close to the beach was nice and we also enjoyed the use of the bicycles. Getting to Charleston took about 45 minutes so it was easier to make a day of going there instead of quick trips. The island was beautiful. We didn't go into the ocean/river much though because there were dead jellyfish all over the beach and we figured there were a lot of live jellyfish in the water. The amenity cards were a nice perk and we used the pool daily. The house was well supplied and we had everything we needed for cooking/grilling. The cottage worked out well for our first stay in South Carolina.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We just got back from our paradise vacation on Seabrook Island. Your home is absolutely lovely. I can truly see why you want to be there to get away from the hustle of life. My sister also had a house on the island. I must tell you it wasn't as equipped or user friendly as yours. My niece's husband is a chef and was impressed by all the things in your kitchen. The porch is such an asset to the home. The other property had a porch, but it was only half the size. With two little nephews running around, the porch was like an extra back yard. Once again, thank you for sharing your little piece of heaven with us. We will tuck your name and address away.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
