  We stayed at the Villa Arches in January with our extended family. If you like to get away from the hussle & buzzle of busy touristy areas you have come to the right place. You will find the villa exactly as it is described, with all the space, views and amenities. The villa is clean and well maintained. We liked the two seperate buildings as the master suite is seperated by a swimming pool and it gives you extra privacy. We did take advantage and walk down to the beach for some swimming, especially our 7 year old grandaughter liked that, however it is a steep walk back up. This property is ideal if you are planning a holiday with other family members or other couples. There are some steep stairs as the villa is on a hillside so it is not well suited for toddlers. We truly enjoyed our stay and Bernard & Eudora were very helpfull and kept the place tidy. We would recomend to have Bernard meet you at the airport, especially if it is your first time to St. Maarten and come in in an evening flight as it could be a challenge to find the place in the dark. All in all a great experience!

  The Arches was as advertised, clean, well equipped and well maintained. It is in an ideal location in Saint Maarten, Oyster Pond, overlooking Dawn Beach. I looked forward to waking up to spectacular sunrises with the Island of St. Barts in the distance. The Arches offers a master suite in a separate house away from the main house so it was great for vacationing with my adult daughter, son-in-law and grandchild. You look out from your hillside location in a private community to ocean views and scenic vistas. Nothing on the island is really far away including Orient Beach and Grand Case, a little village with wonderful "island" French restaurants. My wife and I would walk from the house down the hill to the beach in a matter of minutes and the walk up was a bit of a challenge, but still pleasant. A supermarket on the French side was about 20 minutes away and one on the Dutch side about the same but more traffic. Having Circumnavigated the island, it is my opinion Oyster Pond is the best St. Maarten location. The owner was very helpfulaccommodating.

  Upon arrival, we were very pleased with the property. The view was breathtaking! Bernard & Eudora, the caretakers, were very helpful and helped familiarize us with the house and pool. Well maintained and very nicely decorated, we enjoyed our week there. Palm Beach, Anguilla, Marigot and Pinel Island were all easy destinations and were very enjoyable. The restaurants were all good--we did not have a bad meal--Spiga, on the French side, and Mr. Busby's just down the hill, were our favorites.

  We just got back from our honeymoon in St. Maarten. We stayed at Villa Arches, and it was simply AWESOME. The views are breathtaking. I could go on and on, but just read all the reviews. Picture yourself grilling some steaks, drinking a Carib, and looking out at that view. Enough said..................just book it! Cherri and Alan Colorado Springs

  We've stayed at the Arches three times over three years and have had the chance to explore St. Martin quite a bit. We keep returning to the Arches for a number of reasons. First, the location and views are perfect. You can get to the busy "touristy" areas near the port and airport in 10-20 minutes, if you have some reason to go there. There are several large grocery stores within a 15 minute drive (keep in mind you are only going 35mph on small roads- the distance is very close and the drive is fairly easy). Of course, you can just go down the hill to a small grocery store with more limited selections. What sets apart the Arches from other properties is the sense of privacy. The house is secluded and you have a grand view of the harbour and even the adjoining island of St. Barths. Yet, you can be at the french bakery or the creperie in 5 minutes. Also, if you want to avoid people, you have isolated beaches very close by but you can find a "party beach" at Orient Bay in 10 minutes. The best food in the Caribbean can be had in Grand Case, the birthplace of French nuevelle cuisine. The caretakers do not live onsite, so you have your privacy and they always let you know when they are coming and going. The house itself is well designed and the kitchen is just like you might have at home. Fully equipped so you can make as grand a meal as your vacation can stand. The house is well suited for a couple or a group and each room has its own private balcony. The only problem you might have is getting yourself out of the pool to tour the island. And if you don't- you've still spent your time well.

  Our family just celebrated Christmas and New Years at Villa Arches. It was wonderful. Great location with beautiful views and warm breezes. The villa is so relaxing we had a hard time leaving and seeing other places on the island. The property is very well maintained with wonderful caretakers, gardener, and owners who made sure all was taken care of and answered all our questions promptly. The pictures and descriptions of the property are accurate. We loved hiking up and down the hill the house was on. We hiked down for pastries and french bread each morning and up the mountain in the afternoon to work it off! We loved the restaurant Big Fish right down from the villa in Oyster Pond and we made several trips to Grand Case. Loterie Farm was a great place for a hike and Pinel Island was a wonderful place to spend Christmas. Great trip with lots of fun family memories made.

  I came back to VRBO to possibly book for a second time and could not believe I forgot to write a review on the first trip! This place is fantastic, perfect location, perfect villa, the owners and the grounds help are awesome. Villa Arches is the best place to stay on the island if you are with a group or want a romatic getaway. Quit with a number of great bars and places to eat in the area (I recommend Dinghy Docks) or just cook and drink there (Full Kitchen and BBQ) As stated before, we are looking to book Villa Arches again this time with friends, and probably will a be back a number of times!

  I cannot speak highly enough of this property, the owners and the groundskeepers. I have stayed at the Arches twice, and each time have been completely blown away. The location cannot be beat. You are less than 10 minutes away from Dawn beach, snorkeling, and great restaurants. The Westin is nearby for those who want to gamble. You must see this place for yourself to really appreciate the beauty of the island and of this exquisite villa. It is beyond breathtaking and you will not be disappointed! I'm already planning my next trip back and I wouldn't stay anywhere else!

  What a wonderful private villa with amazing views of Dawn Beach. We have stayed a total of 3 weeks over 2 summers. We enjoyed the private pool. There are wonderful restaurants close by. Cooking in is easy as the kitchen is very well equipped. Bernard and hi wife are the caretaker and housekeeper and they are friendly and helpful The property is covered with beautiful flowers and the villa is beautiful. The villa is on a hill and there are many steps down into the villa and pool area.
