This year was our second stay and we had to have 2 weeks. Robert was recovering from hip replacement and this little bit of heaven was just what the doctor ordered. Perfect cottage... with all the amenities you could want. A vacation here was the best one we've ever had and the coast of Maine from Belfast to Bar Harbor is a treat. Good restaurants nearby and don't forget to go to Young's Lobster Pound for really FRESH lobstah. Carol and Steve are both gracious and helpful hosts, with an eye for outfitting the Water's Edge to keep it lovely and comfortable. We had great fun fishing in the pond and just observing all the wildlife nearby. We'll be back for a certainty. Robert & Luana Belton, SCDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Wow, the pictures do not do this "Llittle slice of heaven" justice! The inside of the cottage was just so cute and well put together, and most importantly very clean. How beautiful it was to wake up every morning and be looking right onto the pond! We enjoyed getting up every morning and drinking our coffee in the screened porch, watching and listening to the Loons. The sunset from the screened porch was different each night, one more breathtaking than the next. My husband and I really took advantage of the canoe as well. We were on the water for what seemed like minutes, only to find out we were there for hours. Very relaxing cottage all the way around. We had picture perfect weather and had a wonderful vacation, we didn't want to leave. We visited Acadia, Camden Hill State Park, and Belfast. The sceenery in the parks is just breathtaking. The Whale Watching Boat Tour was fantastic, a must see, and the sailing trip in Belfast was so relaxing and beautiful. Carol and Steve, thank you so much for sharing your "Paradise" with us, it was truely a great vacation!!! Bill and Sharon, New Jersey .Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We very much enjoyed our stay at this cottage in August 2010. The owner is very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We used the canoe regularly out on the lake which is great for spotting wildlife. Whilst we were there we saw bald eagles, deer, terrapins, and loons. Belfast is only a short drive away and has a few decent restaurants. Also Acadia National Park is an easy day trip away. Even on the one day that it rained, the cottage was comfortable enough that we were perfectly content just to stay in all day and read or watch a film.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Me and my boyfriend rented this beautiful cottage for one week in the month of september 2010.It was very cozy and clean. Every morning when we open our eyes, we had this magnificent view of the lake in front of us. We enjoyed using the canoe cruising around the lake, and we also enjoyed the peace and quiet. The grill was there for us to use and we grilled some great dinners, and after that drove to Belfast for gelattos. The owner was very nice and was very helpful giving us any information we needed. We would love to go back again. What a beautiful place!!!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+.

Beautifull, roomy and well equipped cabin. Realy nice front porch and yard. I spent about 90% of my time in the canoe with my daughter fishing on the lake. We caught more Perch and Smallmouth than we knew what to do with! The lake is very nice and quiet. In 6 days I think we saw 1 motor boat. The wildlife is amazing! Loons everywhere, a few bald eagles and lots of frogs and toads for my daughter to play with! The owners were extremely nice and very helpfull. We will definitely be making the 15hr drive again next year to stay in this beautifull cabin!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

This is a wonderful vacation spot! The cottage itself was perfect, had everything we could possibly have needed and was extremely clean and totally private. The location is fantastic - at the end of a dead end road, just feet from the water. The lake is incredibly quiet and undeveloped (the bottom is rocky, so bring flip flops!). We only saw an occasional canoe or kayak, no motors. There's a small yard with several adirondack chairs, a picnic table, hammock, and a grill in the back. The owners live next door and are very pleasant and completely unintrusive. There are enough trees between the cottage and their house that you barely know it's there. We brought road bikes and even though the cottage is at the end of a dirt road about 1/2 mile from the main road, we had no trouble riding over the dirt with skinny tires. It's an easy trip from the cottage to Belfast, Camden or Rockport for plenty of restaurants, shopping, etc. I'm looking forward to going back again next year!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+.

Cabin is much larger than photos would make one believe and had nearly evertyhing you could think of for living necessities! Small black ant problem in the kitchen but nothing catastrophic. The pond is beautiful and underdeveloped so it is a getaway gem, saw several Loon and a Bald Eagle! The location of the cottage is great for day trips along the mid-coast of Maine. This is a great way to visit the region. However, as this is actually a guest house for a year-round residence about 500 yards through the trees, I would not recommend for a louder couple or one planning on entertaining. Though the owners were polite about it (and not without cause) we did have a couple run ins that would not normally occur. Overall however, it was well worth the cost.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+.
