The Little House of the Swallows (Casita de Las Golondrinas) is the western-most, second floor apartment. The south-facing private balcony is a tree-top perch with a spectacular view of the city center, a wonderful place to sun and sip beverages in the evening, and admire the birds and views. The center of town is only a 10 minute walk away (note: 20 minute walk back uphill...for built-in aerobic exercise! Or a 3 minute taxi-ride for US $2). From the balcony can be viewed not only swallows, but vermillion flycatchers, white-faced ibis, great white egrets, broad-tailed grackels, and numerous other birds, on their daily flights to and from the near-by reservoir in the botanical garden.
Las Golondrinas consists of approx. 700 sq.ft., with a combined LR/DR/kitchen "great room." The high domed brick ceiling with a cupola plus French doors onto the balcony and several windows, make the room light and airy. An excellent wood-burning fireplace takes the chill off on winter evenings (cost of wood is extra). Amenities include a full bathroom with tub and shower, a good sized bedroom with gas heater, cable TV with English-speaking channels (such as CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, several movie channels, etc), king-size bed (or two twins if desired) and walk-in closet/dressing room with a window and a extra bed. There is a private cell phone plus a wireless Internet for your laptop. All is furnished in colorful Mexican style with custom-made furniture and original art work.
The owners of the property live on-site, to provide you with answers to all your questions or repair stuff.
Maid service (twice weekly) as well as all utilities (including cable TV and wireless internet, but excepting phone calls and bottled water) are included in rental rate. Laundry service is available for 60 pesos/load, 60 pesos/hour for ironing.

When my wife informed me I was retiring and we would be moving to San Miguel, I said: "Don't you think we should go there first?"; through the internet, she found Las Golandrinas. !What a pleasant surprise!; we could not have had a better first visit; Judy Arnold and Golandrinas lived up to (if not surpassed) all expectations. Spacious, bright, all the amenities and conveniences (phone, TV, internet); Great place at a reasonable price. We fell in love with the town and now make San Miguel our home. We continue to stay in touch with Judy.. Definitely check it out!!

I have found the perfect hideaway in San Miguel de Allende. It is called Las Golondrinas , rented to me by Judy Arnold and David Hernandez. I definitely lucked out, and had no idea that the reality here is even better than the photos. This lovely flat is good for one to two persons, and I was delighted by my hours spent at the table on the balcony that overlooks the city. I sat in the early morning sipping tea, or doing sketches. I sat in the afternoon while sunbathing and I sat in the evening as I looked out over San Miguel and caught the tiniest of refreshing breezes. I also loved the kitchen and sitting room and cooked a few simple meals that were eaten either on the balcony or at the lovely long table that looks out over the city from the inside of the flat. This spot is a gem, and if you are lucky, and the force is with you, you will not hesitate one minute to rent it. An added plus is a quick ten minute walk downhill to the center of town, and an even shorter walk of five minutes to a lovely lap pool and gym. I don't think it gets any better than this. Judy and David are lovely and generous hosts, and I had the opportunity to become friends with Roja, their gentle dog (whom I took for a walk) and Kako, their occasionally wolf whistling green parrot. Hi Judy, Patricia and I plan to leave Sunday morning, as previously arranged. We have truly enjoyed our stay in your little casita. I hope we can return soon. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else in San Miguel. Las Golondrinas is simply perfect. Oh, I wanted to tell you that Roja has willingly agreed to go with us to the U.S. I told her how lovely Kentucky is and how many rabbits she can chase there. Just kidding, but I do like Roja a lot. She is a great dog, who will miss my daily treats. Please let us know what we can do to leave the casita as you prefer. Until later, John and Patricia

We found Las Golondrians to be a very peaceful relaxing place to be. The view is particularly nice. It is a nice healthy walk downhill into town, which gives you the benefit of being high enough above Centro to be out of the automobile pollution. The casita is very comfortable and private. Judy and David were very accommodating hosts.

Hi: I know comments from the owner are sort of suspect... But this really is a very nice place, and has lots of things other places don't have: a 24-hour wireless internet connection and ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, etc. channels on the cable TV, for example... View out over the city including sunsets, from the private balcony. The apartment is bright and cheerful, and has a high-domed, brick ceiling in the living/kitchen. And excellent, helpful neighbors/managers (namely my husband and me)... Try it, you'll like it.
