Kolea is truly remarkable, with proximity to amenities, but tucked away in a gated area separated from the beach only by natural lava and ancient Hawaiian ruins.
We furnished our home as we would if we were able to live here full time. Throughout the home, you will see original paintings, limited edition giclees, woodcarvings, bronze sculptures, and other artwork. We are on the third level, looking out over a few luxury homes and natural landscape to the ocean and all the way to Maui. From the kitchen and windows facing the mountainside, we see Mauna Kea and the observatory, and Anaeho'omalu (“A”) Bay. Sunsets are amazing nightly off the lanai. A private elevator leads to our comfortable and inviting home.
The kitchen is complete with AllClad and Corningware cookware, Reed and Barton stainless, Noritake dishes and Henckel knives. Some of the additional items are: Krups espresso/coffee maker Combination Cuisinart blender and food processor Small Cuisinart food processor Salton rice cooker DeLonghi toaster oven DeLonghi coffee grinder Hamilton Beach mixer Electric kettle, salad spinner, mixing bowls, baking pans and a pizza pan
In the beautiful African mahogany cabinetry are top-of-the-line appliances, including: Viking microwave Viking six burner glass stovetop Viking fan, hidden behind the stovetop when not in use Viking oven Sub-Zero refrigerator/freezer Viking wine cooler Kitchen-Aid washer and dryer
The 400 square foot lanai, feature koa wood cabinetry, small Sub-Zero refrigerator, and a Viking grill. The large pocket doors open the lanai completely, so the living area simply extends outside. We have a glass-topped table with four chairs, and two very comfortable lounge chairs and ottomans.
The living area has comfortable seating around a 50” Toshiba LCD flat screen TV, a Yamaha AV Receiver, Sony DVD player with HDMI interface, and Yamaha speakers. All the TVs are connected to cable.
Two desks with chairs are in the living area. We have wireless Internet so you are not restricted to the desks while surfing or using your computer. The larger desk has an HP Pavilion computer and Officejet All-in-One printer for your use.
The dining area, between the lanai and the kitchen area, has a glass top table that can seat six, and six lovely linen-like chairs. We have place settings of various kinds for many people.
Each bedroom has its own TV and DVD player. The two guestroom TVs are Toshiba 20” LCD screens with built-in DVD players. The master bedroom TV is a Philips 40” LCD screen TV with a Sony DVD player like in the living area.
The master bedroom and large guest room have California King-size beds. The small guest room has a queen-size bed. Bedding is from luxury collections of different manufacturers, and we have pillows with all different support to choose from. We supply numerous towels, the very soft fluffy Lenox, that are a mix of cotton and bamboo. The beds all have Hawaiian quilts, some entirely hand done, some machine and hand quilted.
Off the master and guest bedrooms are shower and soaking tubs, all tiled and inviting.
We have a number of games and novels to spend time with on the lanai. Our shelves also contain at least one Hawaiian cookbook, a book from the Bishop’s Museum, old Hawaiian lore, a book about Hawaiian quilts, birds, flowers, trees, fish, etc.
The Kolea Club, for the use of owners and guests, has a beautiful infinity pool, a wading sand pool, and a lava hot tub. Exercise facilities are available. Within a short walk is Anaeho'omalu Beach. Swimming and snorkeling at “A” Bay is a real delight, any time of year, particularly out past the shore. It is generally calm and usually you can ease into the water without bodysurfing. The Hawaiian ruins are part of a walking area nearby, as well as a special wedding area. This is a great place to get married at sunset!
Nearby are the Kings’ Shops, which include Tiffany’s, Macy’s, Coach, Crazy Shirts, galleries, jewelry stores, many local shops, and two excellent restaurants, Merriman’s Grill and Roy’s. The Queens’ shops, just opened, feature numerous new shops and restaurants and a grocery store. We have two beautiful golf courses nearby and outdoor/water activities at the beach. |
