Our stay at Kaanapoli Shores Studio

On our arrival the unit was neat and clean. We had adequate towels for our one week stay. Daily maid service does not come with this unit. The floor tile was attractive as was the tile in the shower. It appeared the unit was recently remodeled with granite counter tops in the kitchen and bath area. We did not experience any problems with the appliances in the unit. Closet space was adequate. However, the sliding closet door kept coming off the track. The only storage for our cloths were three drawers in the TV cabinet. The kitchen counter for eating was too low to comfortably eat at. The view from the lanai was good if you didn't mind looking over the red tile roof of the condo to the north. The TV set in the cabinet was an old CRT set. One would have expected a flat screen LCD or plasma set in this day and age. And the final point is the queen size bed in the unit. It was quite uncomfortable, being excessively soft and not hotel quality. All told were enjoyed our one week stay at studio unit. It was a good value for the price. We would most likely rent again if the bed was improved and a better TV installed. Nearby restaurants which we enjoyed were Duke's and The Sea House at Napili Kai.We also enjoyed the Alli Nui sailing catamaran whale watch and snorkel adventure.

Owner response:This guest submitted his review to VRBO after he got home instead of submitting his complaints on the form our on-Maui Management Company provides in our studio. Many of his complaints are unique, opinionated, and factually wrong. We are very careful to accurately represent everything about our VRBO Property #112394 in written text and in our pictures. We would like to address this guest's complaints: First, our rates offer an excellent value. Neither we nor our on-Maui established Management Company knows of a comparable studio at our rates. This guest paid our pre-remodel rates after our $30,000 remodel. Second, our studio has a sweeping panoramic ocean view that is one of the best in the building--one exactly as we pictured and described. By Hawaiian standards, we have a better ocean view than most. Please read our other guests' comments. We never said our studio had an oceanFRONT view--a comparable unit that has one goes for more than three times our rates. (We own such a studio nearby.) Third, our closet doors are contractor/Home Depot standard. This complaint is unique. A considerate guest will take the same care of his rental unit as he would his home. Fourth, re: clothes storage--the guest apparently missed the two carved mahogany end tables, each with their velvet-lined drawer and two shelves. He also missed the 6 empty drawers in the vanity cabinet. He could also have made room in the other (new) cabinets. Fifth, our kitchen counter is standard contractor/table height. This complaint is also unique and inaccurate. Sixth, our CRT TV is just as we pictured, and it is the standard for this Resort. If one wants a higher-tech TV, they can find one for a higher price elsewhere. Seventh, the mattress on the bed is a hotel issued mattress. This is another unique complaint. We and our Management have noted this guest's opinion. We, and our Management Company continue to monitor all our guest comments and respond to them. We regularly maintain our studio. In conclusion, we apologize to the other 20+ potential guests who we turned down and who also had inquired about renting our studio for the same prime/whale season dates as this guest's stay. Our studio is as pictured and we offer great rates. We hope those who read this comment will read our other reviews. We find most guests visiting Maui do not spend their time writing reviews. We have many more positive reviews we will publish as we are able to make the time.

The condo is recently renovated and we found it very clean and affordable. The owners were friendly and responsive.We enjoyed the views from lanai and our little one enjoyed the kids pool.

Lovely Views

This condo was a great, well-kept studio unit. The furnishings were nice and the view of the ocean in the distance was great. Just one caution for light sleeperslike myself: this part of the island gets very windy, and being up so high intensifies the sounds at night. The weather was usually a bit warmer and less windy just a couple of miles down the road in Kaanapali. The parking was very close to the elevators, which was nice. We had a great stay there.

Owner response:Aloha, We’re happy that our recent 5-night guests “had a great stay” in our panoramic ocean view studio. We believe, however, that her complaint about the wind is misleading and unfair. This complaint is unique, and most people are much more interested in value for their dollars. Our studio is an extremely good value, and many other guests have commented on this. Maui is a windy island—but it is unfair to single out any particular area over another. In any case: (1) it would be difficult to find accommodations similar to those of our Kaanapali Shores studio on Kaanapali Beach, and ,(2) if found, the nightly rate would be at least twice what this guest paid for our studio.

This renal unit was exactly as advertised - the ocean view from the lani was exactly as shown in the pictures. It was very clean and had all the comforts of home. The owners were very friendly and were quick to reply to questions. I would recommend this property to anyone wishing to stay at the Kaanapali Shores and would stay again myself if ever able to return to Maui. The resort area was very clean and everyone was very friendly.

Recommended for:Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at this unit in late Jan/early Feb 2008. We found it very tidy/clean. It had all the amenities and more. We completely enjoyed Mai Tais, Sushi and more on the Lanai. The partial view is more like a panoramic view. We spotted whales from the Lanai and saw numerous rainbows. I would definitely return soonest. Thanks for accommodating us.

We can't believe how fortunate we were to stay in your ‘home.’ The view on the lanai was even better than I dreamed […] This is only day 3 and I can't imagine it getting any better. This was our first trip to Maui. We honeymooned 11 years ago in May in Oahu. We thought that was beautiful until we arrived here in Maui. Wow. We are with a group of 20 here for my sisters wedding. The others are staying at the Hyatt, but your place is better. My brother could not believe the beautiful view and beach we had in room 732. It is breathtaking! We thank you for allowing us to stay in your condo. Everything was perfect.

Thank you for helping make this the most spectacular trip we have ever taken. Your condo is beautiful, the location is perfect, and the size is just right for a couple. We have had a magical time here for the last 11 days. It's really hard to leave... we didn't expect to leave a part of our hearts in Maui, but there's something about this place... It's with great pain that we say aloha and goodbye, yet with great pleasure we look forward to coming back!

Your suite was very lovely and you have it decorated to make one realize you are on a tropical island. The view is just breathtaking. There wasn’t a day we didn’t sit on the lanai or lay in bed listening to the birds or taking in the views. We were fortunate to see a double rainbow twice. The grounds were immaculate and the flowers beautiful. We will be coming back again and will be sure to contact you.

This is our first stay at the Kaanapali Shores, and it is the perfect location for bouncing between Lahaina, Kaanapali Beach, and Kapalua as we did this trip. The condo is lovely, the grounds immaculate, and the view spectacular. We will definitely be back.
