Map & Owner's Profile
4 Bedroom Executive Retreat on 4 Acres, Stunning Lake Views
Year Purchased: 1980
Why the Owner Chose Leland
The close proximity to Leland was a definite + can see local beach from anyplace in front of house. The privacy was another consideration before we bought, there's no one up at that level.
Owner's Map of Leland
My wife Liz and I purchased the home in late 1980, lived there for 3 years and because of our new business and the time necessary to run it decided to puchase a home in the 6th. St. Historical District of Traverse City. Both of us grew up on the West side of Traverse City and enjoy being in T.C. We have one daughter that graduated from "K" College last year. We spend a lot of time boating on the North end of Lake Leelanau and Green Lake in Grand Traverse County.

We have enjoyed 24 Summers in a row at the Davis house in Leland.

Our first family trip to this Leland property was when our first-born was an infant. We had a great time and came back each Summer as our children grew up with this house acting as our "vacation house". It holds a special place in all of our hearts. It is always clean, well maintained and the owner has always promptly solved any of the problems which have occurred during the past 24 years.

The view is lovely but to call it an "executive retreat" is a stretch. It has potential to be lovely, but needs updating. Plus, ripped towels and old linens do not meet an "executive" rating. The oven is small and outdated, not what you would expect from a Jen-Air. The mattresses are soft and the cable TV did not work. No air conditioning (probably don't need it often, but it was a hot July) and if you open the sliding glass door in the upstairs bedroom you can hear the busy road below. The layout of the house is very nice. It has a long winding steep driveway - good exercise but wouldn't want to try it in the winter! The area near Leland is beautiful but the house does not have lake access. We were a bit disappointed in our accomodations, but loved the area and enjoyed the scenery and wineries. The small town of Leland is within two miles and is fun to relax and browse the shops. Good restaurants are there also.

My family and I rented this place for four days the beginning of June. From the minute we walked in we knew we were going to love it, and we were right! This place is literally a home away from home. The views are beautiful, it's so quiet and peaceful, and only 2 miles from Leland. The owners are very kind, we even walked in to a lovely welcome note and a bottle of wine. My only complaint is, we didn't stay long enough.

Every year we take a mother-daughter trip to the Traverse area and this year we stayed in the Davis home overlooking Lake Leelenau. The setting was perfect...very peaceful and private, the home was beautiful and well-maintained and we enjoyed our stay very much. I would highly recommend this vacation rental to anyone that is looking for a relaxing setting, away from it all, yet close enough to explore all that the Leelanau pennisula has to offer. Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Davis.
