We and friends of ours stayed at the this lovely spacious home! It was our friends' first visit, and they loved it! It was perfect for 8 children ranging in the age from 7-13 and for moms who were vacationing while husbands golfed. We enjoyed the beach 2-3 hours per day and then would spend the afternoon in the pool. It worked out perfectly for everyone's tastes! It wasn't something that required money over and above the initial investment- the home, the beach, the pool, and the amenities were enough for us. You can tell the owners put a lot of time in with the pool table, the games, movies, and the many t.v.'s and getaways in the house! It's wonderful, and we are all planning on going again this next summer. Restaurants are close, and are also family friendly.... for a couple nights out we went to Sunset Grille, and enjoyed the ice cream shoppe that TinBuck II. We were also able to get family photo shots that we will be using for our Christmas cards! It's just a great home- there is nothing that you will need....all is there! Kitchen is stocked- ideas for the visiting in the area are provided, beach toys and chairs are a plus!

Our family vacationed at Mount Vernon last week and it was wonderful! We all had a very comfortable, relaxing, enjoyable time together. This was our first vacation in Corolla and it was great too. So peaceful and quiet - and the beach was great! We all hope to be able to return some time in the future.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Mount Vernon was an awesome home to stay at in Corolla. The bedrooms are all clean, spacious, and numerous bathrooms. The pool is clean and refreshing, and it is just a quick walk to the beach. Ideally located near the beach and tennis courts. Lots of great movies, puzzles, games, and a nice rec room. Well equipped with pack and play and highchair/booster seat for babies. The owner is extremely responsive—while we were there the latch to the door to the pool broke off, and it was fixed within an hour of reporting it. Well-stocked kitchen, lots of table/counter seating. It has the be the best house in Corolla. We'll come again!

Fifteen of my family members and I had a wonderful vacation in Corolla. A large part of this was due to our wonderful accommodations at Mt. Vernon. The house was spacious, well-equipped and very accessible to the beach - a very short walk. The game room and pool were wonderful for down-time from the beach. I would highly recommend this home.

My family and I have stayed at this house for the past two years and will be renting it again in 2009. We love this house as each adult bedroom has its own bathroom attached. The downstairs kids bedroom share a bathroom. The location is great, only 5 houses from the beach access. You can go to the beach early and come back for lunch without a problem, it is close. It is also near food store and acitives for the kids. Our teenagers could walk to the center The kitchen has plenty of dishes and pots and pans for cooking in the house. The house is on the end of the block so there is a little more private then in the middle of the block. Only downside the living room furniture is starting to show wear and tear. But it is not stopping us from renting again. This house works for us.
