Located only two short blocks from the beach on a quiet residential street in the traditional Mexican village of Bucerias, Casa Azul, with 3 bedrooms, is one of two distinctive architecturally designed homes in a private a private residential compound.
You may rent these homes either separately or together. See our other VRBO listing #380829 for the 2 bedroom Casa Roja.
These architect designed homes are sited around a large pool with multi-leveled terraces and a playful fountain wall. Each house is set in a flowering landscape with mature coconut palms and the compound is surrounded by vine covered wall, which provide both security and privacy.
Our homes are just steps from the spectacular Bay of Banderas with its 10-mile long white sand beach and are near restaurants, shopping and markets.
Casa Azul offers an open floor plan that flows out to a sun dappled veranda covered by a traditional Mexican arbor, which covers a broad terrace and outdoor dining area overlooking the pool. Marble, stone and granite, along with all the modern appliances one would expect in a new home of this quality, can be found in this house.
Views from the bedrooms and rooftop palapa toward the mountains, the bay and the church steeple overlooking Bucerias' town square speak to the diversity of environments and variety of experiences available to our guests. Soft breezes off the mountains and from the Bay of Banderas make this an appealing point of destination and respite for any traveler.
Vine covered garden walls visually link and physically separate the Casa Azul and Casa Roja from one another to create a style and scale the melds contemporary design with the local architectural vernacular. The clever arrangement and relationship of the two homes - each with its own entry off the driving court - makes them ideal to be rented either individually to two unrelated groups or together to a larger group or family.
Both homes have central air conditioning in every room. Ceiling fans in all bedrooms, kitchen, and dining /living room. Satellite TV, Mexican phone for local calls, and wireless Internet.

It's our favorite place in the world to be. I sleep on the rooftop palapa in my dreams. Bucerias is a great little town away from the typical tourist areas. We look forward to taking the whole family again in the very near future.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

This was an absolutely fabulous rental property both inside and out. The interior was beautifully designed and included all the comforts of home. The grounds surrounding the pool were tropical and lush. It was a little slice of paradise. · By Honeymoon 2010 from Minneapolis, MN on 3/18/2010 for a stay in 3/1/2010Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

10 of us stayed at Casa Azul and Casa Roja for almost 2 weeks in January and had the most amazing time. From the first moment you walk through the front gates you know you've arrived somewhere unique and special. The attention to detail is fantastic and you really feel like you've fallen into an Architectural Digest photo shoot. At the same time it feels immediately comfortable and like your home away from home. Given that there were 10 of us staying at once we weren't sure how much privacy anyone would have but that never became a concern. The layout of the two houses is such that there are many places you can escape and find a quiet moment to relax and read or nap. It couldn't have been any better. We would all book Casa Azul and Casa Roja again have recommended it over and over again. I think I can speak for everyone in our group that we dream of the day we can return and escape to this wonderful home away from home in Mexico.Did you find this review helpful? We had a fantastic time in Bucerias. Casa Azul provided first class accommodations in every respect for our family of 6 (kids aged 6 & 9, parents, and grandparents). The location is convenient for exploring everything that Bucerias and the surrounding area has to offer - a short (2 minute) stroll to the beach, restaurants, corner shop, and close to the market square. For venturing further afield, the local bus system is reliable and inexpensive - we rented a car for the first day to get from the airport & pick up groceries from the Mega supermarket - a 5 minute drive; otherwise used buses and the occasional taxi). The house is just as described: spacious rooms, a roof-top palapa, modern amenities, warm pool, wireless internet access (including VOIP phone), and satellite TV. The property was extremely clean, well-maintained, and safe (locking gate and wall provided privacy). Property managers were on-hand to deal with any issues (of which there were none), and the owners provided excellent service. We would stay here again and recommend the place to others. It would make a great place for a larger group or 2 families if Casa Azul and the adjoining Casa Roja properties were rented together. More...Did you find this review helpful? Casa Azul This is the second year we rented Damon Farber's Casa Azul in Bucerias and it is probably one of the nicest homes in the area. Last year we came with our immediate family (mom, dad and two teenage girls). This year our daughters invited one friend each and our good friends rented the adjacent two bedroom two bath home on the same property (Casa Rioja). For meals, we all gathered at Casa Azul as this has a table that seats eight and a large kitchen. Our family likes to cook so with the exception of hitting the taco vendors at the central market across from a beautiful catholic church, we cooked all of our meals at Casa Azul. Speaking of the central market, you can pick up fresh mahi mahi, red snapper, shrimp, etc. from several vendors at the central market (prices range from 140 pesos - 160 pesos per kilo or about $5 to $6 per pound spring 2010). For major provisions, stop at the Mega store about 3 miles south of Casa Azul for oil, bread, butter, etc. Although there are some decent restaurants in the area, they tend to be a bit expensive. If you're a big fan of architecture, you'll appreciate the attention to detail Damon put into this Luis Barragan influenced home. This is a really great place for a family vacation and for those that enjoy the privacy of a private home and the laid back experience Bucerias offers. The beach is about a block away which is nice, especially during the busy Easter week - close but far enough away from the crowds. The property is very secure and you don't need to worry about prying eyes from neighboring properties as Damon has done a great job of creating architectural details to block views into the property. Daily housekeeping service, regular pool and landscaping service keep the property in top shape.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
