Why the Owner Chose Ameliasburg
Prince Edward County is unique. It has everything. It has beaches, golf courses, wineries, birdwatching, hiking, lots and lots of history and heritage (the cottage is located just off the oldest road in Ontario and there was a fort from the war of 1812 just around the corner from my cottage), lots of cool stores and funky restaurants and the cottage itself is very homey and relaxing. A couple of interesting facts about the County:
- it has 800 kilometres of scenic coastline
- Sandbanks Provincial Parks is home to the world's largest freshwater sand dunes
- Prince edward County is an an emerging epi-centre for new world wines with over 20 wineries and more coming
- it has lots of heritage and was home to United Empire Loyalists and Sir John A Macdonald
- Presquile Provincial Park near the cottage is one of North America premier birdwatching sites, especially waterfowl.
- Battawa ski hill which is neaby was founded by the Batta family who created a global empire making shoes. Battawa has a reputation as a small but very good place to ski and snowboard.

We loved this cottage - it had all the things a family loves, like a ping pong table, foosball and a pool table. We especially loved the hot-tub. We went to Sandbanks, we canoed across the lake and found a small but great beach."

My husband and I were looking for a weekend getaway and were incredibly disappointed with this property. The hot tub was disgusting and unusable - one of the main reasons we chose this place! The closet doors were falling off, a kitchen drawer was broken. A huge mess throughout the cottage and its out-building All in all, in a poor state of repair and a very big disappointment.
Owner response:This guest never made me aware of the problems they cite in their complaint. They waited many months to post the complaint which is puzzling. As a result it is impossible to respond to. I have many guests each year and rarely get complaints about the state of the cottage.

The photos are misleading because you can't actually see the lake from inside the cottage or the outside deck. The view is blocked by the shead and 2 houses just beside the cottage. When we were there, their was no water for 1 day and the hot tub was unusable because it was so dirty. The overall cleanliness of the cottage is poor, you can smell the humidity everywhere, the couches were dirty and dingy and one of the showers was so disgusting with mold that we just didn't use it. Our suggestion is to find a better place.
Owner response:The comments by these guests are unfounded and unfair. The cottage is about 60 metres from the lake edge as the lot is deep. Despite that the water is clearly visible from the house and decks. The hot tub was slightly dirty from the previous guest but my housekeeper rectified the problem. The cottage was not dirty as my housekeeper cleans every week during peak season. I have about 20 to 25 bookings each year and seldom get complaints about the cottage.
