One of the Cabot Trail's most spectacular ocean views is yours at Wreck Cove on the east coast of Cape Breton Island. Comb the beach for surf treasures. Watch the gannets dive while you sit at your breakfast table and enjoy the ocean sunrise, or marvel as the coral afterglow spreads across the water at sunset. There are 100 acres of ocean front and mountain wilderness to explore from our private natural hiking trails, right at your door step, very season of the year. We also invite you to swim in the spring-fed pond and, in season, enjoy the produce and berries from the vegetable and flower gardens.

It was great cozy cottage with good size bedroom. great trails for outdoor lovers good for snow shoeing in the winter and hiking in the summer close to Ingonish and Cape Breton highlands park. with great cross country skiing. nice views of the ocean and the highlands with private trails leading through the hills. .Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Thanks so much Doug. You have discovered one of the best kept secrets in Eastern Canada...Cape Breton in winter. Many come backs! Jitka and Gilbert

What a wonderful place for a self-made retreat. Jitka, my host, was very welcoming and warm as was Chance the dog! I just fell in love with the property. Gorgeous views right from the deck on the studio I rented. The beach was very peacful & restorative. There was everything I needed in the Studio and the bed was comfie. The farm fresh eggs were a delight too. Cape Breton is a special place that more Canadians should enjoy! Loved the fall colorsRecommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: Fall is a most splendid time to visit Cape Breton. The temperatures are kept moderate by the sea and the colours are breathtaking. With traffic down, it is very peaceful. You can have a beach all to yourself!

We had a lovely time at Singing Pebbles with 2 child (5 and 7). The Studio apartment is clean, spacious, well-maintained and stocked. It has a beautiful view from the balcony and is large enough that we didn't feel cramped at all even with the four of us. Jitka has a large lovely property with a great games room (separate building) and beautiful gardens and ponds. Her dog Chance was especially friendly and the kids were sad to leave him! There is a spectacular pebble beach just across the road and the property is a short drive (25mins) from Ingonish where we did quite a few trails and beaches. This is a great place to get away from it all - just remember to stock up at Baddeck (Victoria Co-op) or Antigonish (farmers' market and Atlantic Superstore) for groceries before you arrive - there isn't a great selection of produce at Ingonish (nearest Freshmart), although the Wreck Cove General Store does have most of the essentials in a pinch. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to be back soon! Thank you Jitka!Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Yes, the advice about grocery shopping is well worth noting. Thank you

We enjoyed an unforgettable week of vacation at Jitka's studio cottage. The experience struck a perfect balance between relaxation/tranquillity and adventure/excitement, all of which are plentiful and within short reach. The cottage's landscape is beautiful and expansive, and is conveniently situated for access to many of the best sites along the Cabot Trail. Our highlights included whale watching (there are several tours available within just over an hour's drive, which is worth taking either way), stunning highland trails, a sunny morning lounging and swimming at Ingonish Beach, and an impressive array of art and craft shops within a 15 minute drive (one of which features Jitka's excellent work). I won't soon forget the exhilarating sound of the crashing waves as we were lying in bed on a particularly stormy night. Thanks to Jitka as well as Joe and Peggy for the excellent hospitality - we would love to come back!Owner response: Seeing guests enjoy this treasured spot is always a delight. Yes, thanks to Joe and Peggy, valued friends and helpers.

My husband, 2 terriers and myself spent Christmas 2011 at the studio loft. We had a great time. Snow had fallen and the trails were picture perfect. The little touches i.e. the apple pie (awesome) and the table top real xmas tree were truly appreciated, The friendliness of both Jitka and Chance completed the perfect 5 day get away. Can wait to rent the beach house in the summer.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a wonderful one week stay in the studio loft at Singing Pebbles. The property has trails through the woods and access to a clean cobble beach for walking. On the loft's deck, all of the senses are stimulated by the view of the ocean - a view of ocean sunrises and distant passing ships, the freshness of the ocean air and sounds of crashing waves and wave tumbled rocks. Located on the Cabot Trail and close to the Ingonish entrance to Cape Breton National Park, there are many opportunities for all manner of outdoor activity. Thank you Jitka.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

We spent a wonderful week at Singing Pebbles in July. While the weather was not as good as we might have wanted, Singing Pebbles was beautiful and we enjoyed the company of both the cat and dog! We enjoyed walking the property and strolling along the beach. One evening we saw seals. We saw bald eagles from the house and even more on Bird Island and at Pleasant Cove. We highly recommend Donelda's Puffin Boat Tour; it was one of the highlights of our trip. Also recommend The Chowder House in Neil's Harbour. Great chowder & oatcakes and reasonable prices.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

What a wonderful time we had staying at Singing Pebbles and exploring Cape Breton Island. Jitka's warm, genuine hospitality made us feel so at home. We enjoyed the whole property --the beach, the trails, the games room, and the cozy loft apartment that had everything we needed. We would love to return.Did you find this review helpful?
