Seabrook is a private gated community dedicated to maintaining the natural beauty of its live oak and pine canopies, quiet lagoons, tidal marshes and creeks, and pristine dunes and beaches. Yet it is also a premier resort offering two championship golf courses, tennis center, equestrian center and private club with dining, fitness and pool facility
Vacation theme:: Our favorite activities are biking along the quiet, well maintained streets circling and crossing the island and either walking or biking along the pristine beaches to watch the dolphins play off shore.
If you are looking for a quiet, but active vacation with your family or friends, this is the rental home for you. The home is brand new (finished the fall of 2006) and its design was inspired by the noted Southern Living architect, William Poole. With over 3200 square feet of living space plus an additional 1000 square feet of verandas, screened porches and decks, there is ample room for a large family or two smaller families or a number of friends vacationing together.
Description of house:: The spacious great room with its stone fireplace, wide screen HDTV with premium Comcast cable TV/DVR service plus BlueRay DVD. The hickory shelving opens to the loft above and the open deck overlooking the lagoon where the Big Green Egg is located. On each side of the deck is a large screened porch. The east porch provides an outdoor dining option and the west porch houses the hot tub.Below this porch is the outdoor shower. Off the great room is the kitchen/dining area.
The kitchen is stunning - granite countertops, hickory cabinetry, DCS 5 burner gas cooktop, convection oven, microwave, over size refrigerator with front ice and filtered water dispensers, wine cooler, large double sink, etc. The peninsula and island with its prep sink provide extra work and seating space. The first floor master suite has bedroom with a king bed, a bath with double vanity and large shower with dual heads, two walk-in closets and large connected laundry room.
Upstairs, the east bedroom has a queen bed, huge walk-in closet and private two head shower bath. The west bedroom has three twin beds
Amenities and equipment available:: Our rental guests have access to all the amenities of the private Seabrook Island Club which includes two championship golf courses (one designed by Robert Trent Jones), 15 Har-Tru tennis courts, equestrian center, fitness center, pools and dining facilities via a complementary amenity card. There is also access to the nearby newly renovated crabbing dock, trails, quiet streets and pristine beaches. Our rental guests also have access to the spectacular new lake side community center with its heated indoor/outdoor pool and extensive fitness facility.
We provide our rental guests with a kayak and a canoe which can be paddled in the adjacent lagoon. Sail and power boats and kayaks can be rented at the nearby Bohicket Marina. Bikes can be rented and delivered to your door. Golf packages saving you 20% are available upon request. An exercycle is also available.
We provide a beach cart to carry you gear over the ramps crossing the dunes. A wide variety of beach toys including boogie boards, crab nets, beach umbrellas and chairs are available.

Hot tub has a bromine "duck"

This guest found out the value of the bromine duck or bobber as she put it: "One of the best vacations ever. The cloudy spa turned out to be as Simple as the Other sibling had taken out bromine bobber... I returned if to the hot tub and the cloudiness was soon gone. Thanks again for sharing your home." Seriously, hot tub maintenance is important. The tub is refilled for each party, chemical shock is applied each refill, bromine is dispensed via tablets in the floating dispenser or "duck" plus the hot tub has a built in ozonator. We also wipe down the surfaces with bleach whenever we are there.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

One recent guest sent these comments to me after she arrived. "Thx Jack. The house is immaculate. I've filled the hot tub hope it works! Looking forward to cooking and reading and relaxing. Have a great Thanksgiving. Was welcomed by five deer in the back." I cannot guarantee a welcoming committee of deer every time, (they are around quite often), but the hot tub should work as advertised.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This guest made a number of points with which I totally agree: "We had a wonderful time at your seabrook island home. We love the beaches they were not crowded at all even in the middle of June. We had been going to Hilton Head for many years and everyone who went with us loved Seabrook better than Hilton Head. Your house is lovely, loved the kitchen and also the master bath shower. There was plenty of room for our family. My son in law loved cooking on the Big Green Egg. My husband and I play a lot of tennis, and the courts were great. Friendly staff too. We most certainly will be returning to Seabrook. Thanks for making your house available." Joan and I are tennis players and agree that both the tennis staff and facilities at Seabrook are first class. The staff works hard to welcome members (both part and full time) and rental guests. As part timers, we really appreciate that.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This guest had a number of kinds words with respect to our Seabrook Island home and Seabrook Island itself: "First let me start by telling you how much my family has enjoyed your home on Seabrook! What a beautiful home, setting and it was stocked with everything we needed. ..... We would love to use your place again on our next trip, we come every year but this was our first stay on Seabrook and we loved it!" Notes like these are very dear to me.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Obviously this guest did not have our usual chamber of commerce weather, but the vacation was salvaged: "My husband and I had wonderful time at your home at Seabrook. The island and all of the club Facilites are wonderful. Your home is beautiful and very comfortable. We felt right at home. We especially enjoyed the large open kitchen. We did not have the best weather (lots of rain)' so the screened in hot tub was really fantastic." Let's hope the weather will be better next time.Did you find this review helpful? This guest requested an extended stay for one day. It did not work out to stay an extra day due to fixed costs, but we were able to delay the departure time to achieve a similar result. John writes: "We had a wonderful time this week, your house is fantastic -- thanks so much for everything! My wife and I have enjoyed it so much here that we'd like to ask if would be possible to stay another night? (everyone else will be leaving Saturday morning);" Our goal is to be as flexible as we can to satisfy the needs of our rental guests. It worked well this time.Did you find this review helpful? My family and I recently returned from our 4th stay at Seabrook Island. This is, by far, the best place we have rented. The property was well appointed and maintaned. After a long day at the pool and beach the hot tub was a welcomed joy. We also enjoyed the use of the canoe and kayak. A great place for teenagers and tired parents alike!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children.
Owner response: A couple of comments are in order. First, I appreciate the kind words. These rental guests obviously appreciate the beauty and value of Seabrook Island as we do as indicated by their many repeat visits. They are also engage in active family vacations as they took advantage of the Seabrook's beaches and pools and our hot tub, canoe and kayak. We do the same. I would not be at all surprised if they someday became Seabrook Island property owners. This is the route by which the vast majority of all current Seabrook Island property owners became property owners.

A recent guest expected to use a charcoal grill and was disappointed when they did not find one. I was very concerned when she told me afterwards - I thought someone had made off with our Big Green Egg. Happily, it was just a misunderstanding. They thought the Big Green Egg was just a smoker and did not realize it was also a terrific charcoal grill. It was there on the open deck all the time. This is what she said: "The house is wonderful - especially the kitchen. Even though I only cooked dinner once (I'm not a cook!), it was perfect for us to come in at all times of the day and night to get snacks and drinks. The master suite is unbelievable! The shower!! I could stay in there all day. The beds were comfortable - lots of napping. And it was nice to have the office/den room with the couch, for a chance to get away by one's self once in awhile. We didn't fill or use the hot tub, but everything else seemed to work ok. We did think that there was a bbq, so had bought briquets and lighter fluid, but it wasn't on the deck. No problem, though. While the weather for the first part of the week was fine, it got really cool in the evenings and later on in the week so we weren't all that interested in grilling. All in all, it was perfect for us."Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I could not have said it better: "dear jack, i just wanted to tell you what a wonderful time we had at your house in s. carolina. the house is absolutely beautiful and more than that, its layout makes it extremely comfortable and easy to live and play in! we loved the porches and even used the hot tub. we never had time to kayak at the island, but did take a tour with our kayaks with a local tour company. i am a cook, so the huge kitchen was an absolute dream for me! all of the appliances (including the wine refrigerator!) were a pleasure to use. our only regret was that there were only 4 of us staying there--with all of that space, i kept saying what a waste it was not to have more people there to enjoy it! we took much advantage of the beautiful pool at the beach club and the bar that sits next to it! the reality company was very helpful and overall it was a terrific vacation. thank you for allowing us to stay there, i couldn't have chosen a better rental!"Did you find this review helpful? We've just concluded our 2nd stay at this beautiful home and would highly recommend the home and Seabrook Island for a very relaxing beach vacation. The home is an easy bike ride to the beach club, which is a wonderful and convenient way to enjoy the beach and pools. Their location on the lagoon is very tranquil and we also enjoyed using the canoe and kayak provide for paddling around the lagoon in the evening. This was a great setup for two families vacationing together and we'll be back.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2006
About the owner: Our Seabrook Island home was designed and built in 2006 to accommodate our extended family shown above. Very flexible sleeping arrangements in five private rooms for up to 12 people are available. Living, cooking and dining facilities are also adequate for our extended family.
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes:
My wife and I first visited Seabrook Thanksgiving, 1982, with three other couples on a holiday getaway from the onset of winter in Delaware. What a wonderful vacation! We all played tennis, golf, road horses, walked the beaches and dined in the Island House while enjoying the perfect weather. Of course, we all immediately fell in love with the island and revisited it a number of times. Almost twenty years after our first visit and after looking at resorts all along the Southeast Coast, we bought a lot on Seabrook Island Road in 2001 and built our Seabrook home in 2006. Today three of the four original couples who first vacationed there in 1982, own a home in Seabrook or nearby Kiowa.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We enjoy taking our morning coffee on the east screened porch with the morning sun and views of the wooded landscape and adjacent lagoon. We are often entertained by the numerous birds and squirrels in the trees and occasional deer running through the yard.
