Seabrook is a private gated community dedicated to maintaining the natural beauty of its live oak and pine canopies, quiet lagoons, tidal marshes and creeks, and pristine dunes and beaches. Yet it is also a premier resort offering two championship golf courses, tennis center, equestrian center and private club with dining, fitness and pool facilities. Our favorite activities are biking along the quiet, well maintained streets circling and crossing the island and either walking or biking along the pristine beaches to watch the dolphins play off shore.
If you are looking for a quiet, but active vacation with your family or friends, this is the rental home for you. The home is brand new (finished the fall of 2006) and its design was inspired by the noted Southern Living architect, William Poole. With over 3200 square feet of living space plus an additional 1000 square feet of verandas, screened porches and decks, there is ample room for a large family or two smaller families or a number of friends vacationing together.
The spacious great room with its stone fireplace, wide screen HDTV and hickory shelving opens to the loft above and the open deck overlooking the lagoon. On each side of the deck is a large screened porch. The east porch provides an outdoor dining option and the west porch houses the hot tub. Below this porch is the outdoor shower. Off the great room is the kitchen/dining area.
The kitchen is stunning - granite countertops, hickory cabinetry, DCS 5 burner gas cooktop, convection oven, microwave, refrigerator with front ice and filtered water dispensers, wine cooler, large double sink, etc. The peninsula and island with its prep sink provide extra work and seating space. The first floor master suite has bedroom with a king bed, a bath with double vanity and large shower with dual heads, two walk-in closets and large connected laundry room.
Upstairs, the east bedroom has a queen bed, huge walk-in closet and private two head shower bath. The west bedroom has three twin beds, a bunk bed and another huge walk-in closet. The private study has a queen pullout couch. A shared tub bath and loft sitting area service these rooms. Virtually every room has a ceiling fan and some have two - 14 total.
Our rental guests have access to all the amenities of the private Seabrook Island Club which includes two championship golf courses (one designed by Robert Trent Jones), 15 Har_Tru tennis courts, equestrian center, fitness center, pools and dining facilities via a complementary amenity card. There is also access to the crabbing dock, trails, quiet streets and pristine beaches. Our rental guests also have access to the spectacular new lake side community center with its heated indoor/outdoor pool and extensive fitness facility.
We provide our rental guests with a kayak and a canoe. Sail and power boats and kayaks can be rented at the nearby Bohicket Marina. Bikes can be rented and delivered to your door. Golf packages saving you 20% are available upon request.

New Home on Beautiful Lagoon: up to 50% Holiday Discount
Year Purchased: 2006
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes
My wife and I first visited Seabrook Thanksgiving, 1982, with three other couples on a holiday getaway from the onset of winter in Delaware. What a wonderful vacation! We all played tennis, golf, road horses, walked the beaches and dined in the Island House while enjoying the perfect weather. Of course, we all immediately fell in love with the island and revisited it a number of times. Almost twenty years after our first visit and after looking at resorts all along the Southeast Coast, we bought a lot on Seabrook Island Road in 2001 and built our Seabrook home in 2006. Today three of the four original couples who first vacationed there in 1982, own a home in Seabrook or nearby Kiowa.
The Unique Benefits at this House
As you may infer from the photo, bicycling about the island is one of our favorite activities. The size of the island is perfect for bicycling - you can get anywhere in less than half an hour. The streets are safe as bicycles due to the low 25 mph speed limit and the unfailing courtesy of the local drivers. The new bike path to Freshfields Village makes that ride especially pleasant. A new bike path from Freshfields to Kiowah will open soon - it may be open now. We never tire of viewing the natural beauty of the pine and live oak forests, marshes, dunes and beaches. We often see deer, foxes and myriads of birds plus dolphins in the surf at Pelican Beach. Of course we enjoy other activities such as tennis and golf and paddling in the lagoons, surf and local creeks, but biking is the one activity we enjoy every day we spend there.

This is an unusual, but very welcome note. The son of a recent rental guest wrote "I was staying in your Seabrook Island house this week with my parents and family. I had called and talked to Mrs Hunt earlier this week about the wireless internet. She said that no one was able to get it to work, and to send you and email if I did. Well, I didn't divulge at the time that I'm a software engineer and have quite a bit of computer experience. Long story short, I was able to get the wireless working properly. I'm not sure what the password was previously - I couldn't get either of the ones Mrs Hunt provided to work. However, it is now "OpenUpTheBox!" (without the quotes), and worked all week with no problems. Thanks for sharing your beautiful house with us. We've had a great week and cannot wait to come back next year." Obviously, my wife and I have little expertise with respect to complex electronic devices. As far as I am concerned it is magic best dealt with by a magician. Fortunately we had a majician staying with us that week.

Our most recent guests writes: "We just got home a couple of hours ago. We had a WONDERFUL time in Seabrook. Your home is so beautiful! The high ceilings, granite countertops, large kitchen, stunning fireplace, and great deck with hot tub really made our vacation complete. I can understand why you built a home there. We took care of it as it was our own. We called Cheryl ( she was great to work with) the first night because the hot water didn't get hot enough.... I believe the fuse was flipped and also let her know that the garbage disposal was leaking a little bit. We wanted you to know this so you wouldn't have future problems in the kitchen. We loved it there....don't be surprised when we call you to come back we thoroughly enjoyed it!" Cheryl Bailey is our property manager and takes very good care of all of our guests from the pre arrival paperwork, check in and any problems during the visit.

I had meant to write earlier telling you about our stay at your property. It was excellent! The house was beautiful and so spacious, and like you had said, the pictures do NOT do it justice! We made full use of the kitchen, having all breakfasts and a couple of dinners at the house, and it easily accommodated 9 adults. The hot tub and the bikes were great perks; many of us hadn't ridden bikes in years and it was quite enjoyable riding them to the beach in the evenings. The trip was great, Seabrook Island was beatiful, and the house was even perfect.

This comment is from a guest who evidently took full advantage of the tennis facility: "Thanks Jack…we really enjoyed your place…the spa was a real blessing after the second tennis match of the day. Wouldn’t stay any place else. Thanks again." I can appreciate the spa after only one match.

Homeowner Response:
Hopefully, the horse stayed at the stables at the equestrian center. Seriously, we try to help our guests in any way that we can. The Club which runs the equestrian center is also very helpful.

Yet another guest comments on my photography skills and even offers their own photos: "My family and I really enjoyed our stay at your house. The house was beautiful; your pictures did not convey how nicely the house was constructed. I loved the open living area, the long deck with 2 screened sections and the large kitchen with the gas burners was a cook's dream. The island offered everything a family would want during their stay; the community was relaxed, quiet and welcoming. This was a very nice change from the over crowded beaches we have visited prior to this trip. The island is not located too far from the city of Charleston, the short drive allowed us the opportunity to site see, visit museums and shop. Once our shopping spree was over we were very happy to get back to Seabrook were the crowded streets and the hustle and bustle was non-existent. Once I look at all my pictures if I have any that display the beauty of the Seabrook and/or your house I will Email them to you. Who knows you may want to use them in your advertisement for the house."
