Location, Location, Location!
It doesn't get better than this. Situated at the crown of the visitor’s mecca of Guanacaste, we are centrally located to several national parks, volcanoes, waterfalls, caves and stunning beaches. Nearby is the best diving in the country and, quite possibly, the best fishing as well. Though our peaceful, secluded vacation community seems worlds away from civilization, the conveniences of Playa del Coco are about a 10 minute drive away and the Liberia International Airport is just a 30 minute drive away.
Our most prized possession is our private ebony-sand beach; forming a cove surrounded by imposing cliffs, our crescent-shaped beach is always the main focal point for any eyes visiting the property. The sound of gentle waves lapping up onto the extraordinary volcanic sand lulls guests into a dreamlike trance - the perfect lullaby.
On-site: Restaurant and bar, sea kayaks, Snorkeling, Beachfront infinity pool and Kids pool. Sign up for the greatest sportfishing in Costa Rica right on the beach.

Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2005
We bought in 2005 along with some friends and we travel down to C.R. 2-3 times a year to stay. Bahia Pez Vela is a special place and there is nothing like it that we have found. We are proud to share our villa with renters and friends.
Why the Owner Chose Playa Ocotal
We had friends that bought a villa in B.P.V. and when we went to check it out we fell in love with the area. We've enjoyed bringing decorations and such from the states for our place and it has been a labor of love.
The Unique Benefits of this House
The serenity, peace and quiet, gourmet restaraunt, pool area, private beach; just to name a few.

We had a wonderful experience at Bahia Vez Pela during August 2011. The place has a gorgeous private beach, beach-side pool and pool-side bar & restaurant. The grounds are immaculate and the bi-lingual staff were friendly and helpful. Neil's place has an incredible view and is a short walk (100 m?) to the water. If walking is a problem you can also drive the short distance to the pool / beach / restaurant. The condo was very comfortable with a full kitchen, gas grill, telephone, wireless, cable, etc, in other words...everything you need! Groceries and all other provisions are available 10 minutes away in Coco. The diving was exceptional in the bay, clear water, with thousands of fish as well as sightings of rays, sharks, sea turtles and dolphins. Snorkeling from the beach was excellent as well (bring your own gear). If you are looking for a comfortable and secure location with great views and easy access to the beach, you've found it!

We had a great time in this villa! The villa was really comfortable, it had everything to make us feel at home. The bedrooms were spacious and the view from the main bedroom was amazing. We love having our breakfast outside where we could hear the monkeys every morning and we had a lot of little birds around us! The people from the resort was really nice and helpful! The pools are always clean and usually no one was using them. The beach is really private, it was normal to have it all for us. We recommend this place and hope we can go again!

Wow --- what a wonderful place to stay!!! We've been here for the month of June - 7 of us total - 1 set of grandparents, my husband and I and our three kids (ages 2, 6, and 8). This villa completely met our needs and was comfortable and has served as "home" on our wonderful vacation. It is our second time to Costa Rica and we'd admired Bahia Pez Vella from Ocotal beach the last time we visited (we stayed in Playa Hermosa). With it being the off-season, we've had the whole resort virtually to ourselves. Who knew what it was like to sit on a beautiful, black sand beach that you have completely to yourself??? It's been fantastic. We've enjoyed some snorkeling, exploring the tide pools and catching geckos and chasing butterflies and iguanas and that's all right here in Bahia Pez Vella. We also enjoyed some excursions while in CR --- we all did the canopy tour at The Congo Trail (the grandparents and 2 year old included!!!) and a day trip to Arenal Lake and a hike into a waterfall just south of Liberia. The pool is wonderful. Our 2 year old has really gained confidence in the water after the time he has spent playing in the "kiddie pool" which is about a foot deep. The beach is right down the hill - which we have loved!!! We head down for the day: spend some time at the pool, head down to the beach to play in the waves and the sand, head back up to the pool area and shower off before we jump right back into the pool. Security has been awesome. We feel very safe here and even had a guard ring our doorbell this evening to let us know that we left our car door open...I mean really nice and friendly - everyone here. Allison and Cesar were very helpful when we needed to send a fax back to the States and even when I was attempting to make a dentist appt. Also, the owner, Neil was very easy to work with. My husband and he talked over the phone and also through email. He was prompt in answering any questions we had before heading down here. I have and will continue to recommend Bahia Pez Vella and specifically this villa, to anyone who is considering travel to Costa Rica. Thank you Neil - we hope to return someday and can't think of a better place to stay!!!

Seven of us from a toddler, a pre teen, a teenager, parents and grandparents enjoyed a wonderful stay at Villa 21 from Jan 14-22, 2009. The villa was extremely comfortable with great space for us plus all the comforts of home (WIFI kept us in touch and allowed us to do last minute research on places to visit in the area). The pool, the beach, the Picante restaurant (and fabulous fruit smoothies) made for some great days. The staff members at the resort and restaurant were friendly and helpful all the time. We enjoyed the Congo Line canopy tour, and we were all lucky enough to witness the leatherback turtles nesting down at Playa Grande. Playa Coco and Hermosa Beach also provided some great restaurants, fun shopping and entertainment. Grocery stores in town were well stocked for all of our needs. We totally enjoyed the family of howler monkeys that traveled around the perimeter of the resort. Watching them and hearing their unusual sounds was pure delight to everyone. We would highly recommend a stay at Bahia Pez Vela in this lovely villa. Thanks for the opportunity to enjoy such a great spot in Costa Rica. Rundells, Feltls and Semmelroths from MN

We certainly had an adventure packed 2 weeks in Costa Rica. The condo was so comfortable we felt like we were leaving home on our departure and wanted to stay longer! Katelyn, Gina and Andrea were so helpful in booking tours and answering our questions about the area. We enjoyed all the activities at Rincon de la Vieja right away. We also scuba dived at Ocotal Dive Center at the adjacent beach-very convenient as we could walk there when the tide was low or their hotel sent a shuttle if required. Jim rented a surfboard at Playa Grande and then found a kite-boarding teacher at Bahia Salinas near the Nicaragua border. We took an overnight trip to Arenal Observatory Lodge and did their lava tour and nature hike. Great place, and we did see red hot lava rocks coming down from this still active volcano! Quite thrilling. Also saw some very cool birds! We found the best dining at La Finisterra and Gingers, but often ate at Pez Vela which was also very good and convenient at the end of an active day. We got a 10 pack of massages which we enjoyed on the beach, at our Villa, or at the Marabel Spa. Aaaah! In short we had a great time. Thanks, Neil!

Thanks so much for letting us stay in your lovely villa. It was much nicer than we expected after spending a week in local accommodations in Monteverde. This was a great way to end a holiday in Costa Rica in the luxury of Bahia Pez Vela. As you mentioned, the snorkeling off the rocks on the black sand beach right in front of the development was great. We saw lots of fish including spotted eagle rays, trigger fish, moray eels, and even a sea turtle. The water was warm and clear. The pools and restaurant at Bahia Pez Vela were very nice, and we took your recommendation and went to Restaurante Finisterra in Playa Hermosa. It was the best! (but not easy to find). I would definitely recommend a stay at your villa.

We just got back from 2 full weeks at Bahia Pez Vela. We took a road trip this time and saw the volcano at Arenal. We sat out on the deck at Observation Point and watched huge boulders rolling down the mountain from the volcano. Spent the night at La Fortuna then headed back to BPV; stopping in the town of Sarchee where they make most of the Costa Rican furniture. The weather was warm as usual; the water temp was 80 degrees. We are finding more new restaurants popping up around Playa Del Coco and Hermosa; most of them Italian. We had a fabulous time; lots of poolside time and massages. Hated to leave but we shall return...

Our first trip to Costa Rica was incredible. The Bahia Pez Vela is an amazing place to stay! Secluded yet close to all the action in Coco. We went down with 8 from California and loved every minute of it. The fishing was awesome...we caught lots of tuna that the guys at Picante's cooked up for us and we landed a 70lb Roosterfish in front of the Four Seasons!!! Mahi and Wahoo too! The canopy zip line tour we did was about 20 minutes away from the condo and was something we'll never forget. Massages on the beach, cold margaritas and some of the best food we've had on ANY vacation. Sorry Maui...Costa Rica is our new favorite place and THE place to stay is the Bahia Pez Vela...can't wait to go back!!

My husband,2 friends and I spent 5 days at #21 Bahia Pez Vela and loved it! The villa is very nicely decorated, comfortable and wonderful views of the bay. You might awaken to the sound of Howler(?) monkeys or birds singing, and enjoy your morning coffee out on the patio looking out at the ocean. We live in snow country and wish we were back there!!!

We just got back from our annual owners' meeting and spent a fun filled week. We went out with a local fishing guide named Rafa and slayed the fish. Caught 8 wahoo, a black tuna, and a 12 lb. red snapper. The best fishing trip we've been on. We also lost a marlin and had a double hookup of dorado [lost both]. The weather was warm and cloudy; some rain in the afternoons. We're still finding outstanding new restaurants every trip. One Italian place in Coco and Papagallos in Hermosa on this trip. I fall more in love with Costa Rica every time I return; can't wait to go back...Neil
