Upscale tropical villa in a beautiful, secluded mountain setting. Only 12 miles down to the ocean at Dominical.
Upscale lodge home in a beautiful, secluded mountain setting. Only 12 miles down to the ocean at Dominical. The main house (6000 sf/3 levels) sits in a private jungle reserve of 66 acres which has 5 large waterfalls, two rivers, spring fed creeks and kilometers of hiking trails. The main house sleeps 14 adults and the garden rooms 8 more. Bunk beds and sofa beds can be arranged to accomodate additional guests. There is an in-ground pool and 9 person spa. Giant chess is in the garden. Separate laundry facility and work out area. Maintenance and housekeeping staff are on site. For a nominal fee, a cook can be arranged for breakfast, lunch and/or evening meals. Menus will be tailored to your preferences. Local activities include: waterfall adventures ( both swimming and repelling), horseback riding, photo safaris, and mountain hiking. Snorkelling and ocean kayaking are only 30 minutes away.
Just completed in Spring 2007, this splendid Costa Rican Villa is situated on a verdant hillside in the mountains of the Southern Pacific Zone, between San Isidro and Dominical. There are no other homes in sight and acres of surrounding forest to insure privacy. You will be able to experience the abundant sights and sounds of the jungle from the comfort of the main house. The Howler monkeys and the toucans visit regularly.
Open air architecture and incredible views of the valley, together with a cooler mountain climate, set this house apart from the beach dwellings. Warm days and cool nights are the norm. At 2100 ft elevation a/c is not needed. Ceiling fans are in every room and the entire main level of the house is open to the gentle breezes. The cafe, bar and great room overlook the pool deck and spa area. Imagine waking up to coffee served on the second floor balcony and watching the sunrise from above the clouds.
The main floor has a reception area/office, commercial style kitchen, breakfast room/cafe, grande salon, full bar, and a media room with projection viewing and theater style seating. SkyTV and internet are provided by satellite. The house has 3 large suites on the second level with a smaller room that can be used as additional sleeping quarters. The third level is the observatory suite with 360 degree panoramic views of the valley and the mountains. There is a separate building below the main house with a well equipped workout center. A caretaker's apartment, the garden rooms and laundry facilities are a short walk below the main house . Water in the house comes from our spring fed creek and is filtered/purified and perfectly safe for drinking. Vehicle parking is abundant however the locals tend to prefer horses over cars. Because of our remote location, guests at Los Aires should have 4WD vehicles, especially in the wetter green season.
Local area activities, including climbing and repelling the Diamante Falls (the highest in CR) and horseback tours to the Nauyaca Falls (the grandest in CR) . Rafting trips, ocean kayak and and canopy zipline tours are available. There are guided tours of the valley on horseback. The more physically fit can challenge themselves by exploring the valley roads on mountain bikes. Mt Chirripo (13,000ft) is in the Southern Zone and is a great overnight hiking trip. Scuba and snorkelling, surfing, and whale watching (in season) are available on easy day trips. Dominical and San Isidro de el General are both 30 minutes away. We are 3.5 hours south of San Jose by well maintained highway. It is a quick trip to the Southern Zone via Quepos airport. On the new coastal highway it is only 55 minutes from the villa to QPX. A 4x4 vehicle is recommended for your stay, especially in the wetter Green Season
While still available this year, take advantage of the opportunity to rent the villa for your family or group. We guarantee you will enjoy the adventure and the incredible scenery here in the Southern Pacific Zone and the attentive service and comfort we provide at Los Aires.

Grandest falls in CR. Take the jungle tour on horseback to the falls and jump to the deep water pools below. One of the "don't miss adventures" here in the Southern Zone
White water fun in the rainy season. From Platanillo to the ocean at Domincal. In dryer season try running the Coto Brus. The ziplines at Hacienda Baru are great adventure. Try the new tree climbin
13,400' elevation. Amazing views of both oceans. Overnight hike. Ask the concierge to arrange your sleeping bags and lodge stay at the basecamp.

We stayed at Los Aires in January 2011 and it was one of the most amazing experiences ever. Our group had 2 families, including 5 children, ages 3 - 9. The lay out of the house was perfect for our group and the pool was great for the kids. It was warm, had a shallow area for the youngest member, and was just outside the living area, so supervision was easy. As all the bedrooms are upstairs, we felt we could put the children to bed and continue our evening. The theater room was KEY for giving the kids a little "down time" every day. The view is UNBELIEVABLE and it was so refreshing to look out and only see jungle and no neighbors. We hiked to all the waterfalls on the property, most of which the children made it too. The nice thing about Los Aires is that you will never run out of things to do. The house was very clean and well-decorated, with comfortable beds. The staff, especially Viviana and Henry, were so accommodating, and the meals by Patricia were amazing. We had her cook 5 out of 7 nights and had no regrets. The food was varied and delicious. Having staff on site was so nice and made you feel very secure...but they gladly gave us privacy whenever we asked for it. We LOVED our stay here. We were close to so many activities and the beach, without the hustle and bustle of tourists. We cannot recommend Los Aires enough. We hope to return next year! Do not hesitate to rent this home...you will not be disappointed!

The pictures do not do justice to this property. The views are amazing, the staff is even better and the house is one of a kind. Me and my wife had the most relaxing week ever here. I would recomend the house to anyone looking to relax or for any one looking for a great adventure. Property is close to the beach and other great activities. I would recomend the horse back riding to the falls(make sure you jump off the falls!).

What a wonderful place.... We took a group of 11 people to this house and it was perfect. The cooks did a great job and the house stayed clean. I would highly suggest using Stephen when booking excursions for Costa Rica he made it easy and the companies that he choose were fantastic. This was our first time deciding to stay in a rented house in Costa Rica and we could not have choosen a better one. Thank you Stephen for making this one of the best vacations.

Comment Text: We spent 3 wonderful days and nights at Las Aguas in February, 2009. It was absolutely the best part of our 11 day trip to Costa Rica. The owner, Steve is top notch and the lodge is awesome. We saw Toucans virtually within our finger tips; were woken up each morning by howler monkeys; hiked to a neat waterfall; and took in the most amazing vistas from every direction at the lodge. Dining was excellent and staff was very friendly. We would recommend Las Aguas to anyone. In fact, upon our return to Des Moines we decided to bring an entire group of our friends to Las Aguas next winter. We just made our reservations to take over the entire lodge for a fun filled week in February, 2010

I stayed at Villa Las Aguas with a group of 15, and we all loved every minute of our stay. The house is unbelievably well designed and appointed, the staff was helpful and cheerful, and the location combined both tranquil seclusion and easy access to amazing beaches and nearby urban areas. The property itself has access to some beautiful trails, waterfalls, and swimming holes. The food was delicious and varied. Stephen, the property owner, also helped a great deal with planning activities during our stay. I could not recommend Villa Las Aguas more: I wish I could have stayed much much longer.
