  My wife and I spent a week in the cottage for our honeymoon and it was fantastic! Just what we were looking for; a quarter mile from main street, with all the stores and restaurants you could possibly need (would recommend trying Jeannie's Great Maine Breakfast on Cottage Street). The only time we drove is when we went into Acadia National Park to enjoy the beautiful park loop. The cottage was very cozy and quaint with just the right touches to make it feel like a home away from home. Comfy bed and couch made it a great place to come back to after being out all day. Just hanging out in the cottage was one of the highlights of our trip! Only cons were the squeaky architects on the second floor, but it was infrequent and they were gone after 4pm each day. We plan to go back someday and will definitely recommend it to our friends!

  Recommended for: Families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

  Owner response: We are happy to hear that the newlyweds enjoyed The Cottage on Cottage! Regarding the "squeaky architects", part of the charm of this authentic turn-of-the-century cottage are the few squeaky floorboards, but the owner/architects on the second floor try to keep it quiet!

  We started off with whale watching and were lucky enough to see eight finback whales. Hiking, fishing, dining... everything so convenient to The Cottage. We very much enjoyed staying here! The Cottage is lovely and so comfortable. All the best!

  Did we mention the great location?! We walked the ocean trail to Otter Point, Summited Gorham Mountain, climbed the Precipice Trail, went sea-kayaking, took a cruise over to Baker Island, rode to the summit of Cadillac Mountain, rode the entire park loop road, and tide-pooled with a ranger. Thanks!

  “What a lovely home - thank you so much for sharing it with others. We had a very relaxing time here (much needed!). How nice to be able to walk everywhere. We enjoyed much hiking and the beautiful fall colors while here. This is by far one of the nicest rentals I’ve seen - very homey and comfortable. I would recommend it highly. Than you again for your hospitality. Flowers, apples, etc. We had a great time. Can’t wait to come back to enjoy more of Acadia.”

  “What a beautiful place this cottage is. We feel very fortunate to have discovered it and we’re already planning for next summer. The decor is warm and inviting. A perfect location for a family with a baby. Excellent kitchen too! While enjoying the front porch, we notice everyone who walks by the Cottage looks at it. If feels great to be the ones staying here. People asked us if we lived here! I wish!

  “As always, we had a wonderful vacation in Bar Harbor. We especially loved coming ‘home’ to ‘our home’ while here. We spent our days hiking the mountains and biking the carriage trails, going to bed every night ‘cheerfully exhausted’...The Cottage was wonderful. It was so great to walk to the grocery, dining, shopping, everything. The Cottage was so perfect - like a doll house. Our girls loved their room. This is such a nice place to stay. We hope to come again next year.”

  “We could not have found a prettier or more accommodating place than the Cottage on Cottage. We loved everything about it and found its location ideal. We loved hiking through Acadia or walking through Bar Harbor. When, not if, we come back to MDI, we’d love to stay here again. Thank you for all the little thoughtful touches; the flowers on the coffee table, the oranges on the dining table. This was a most memorable vacation.”
