Why the Owner Chose Black Bart
Tahoe in the 70's was deliciously decadent; the result of sharing that experience created life-long friendships for about 20 of us "girls." Though few of us remained at the Lake after 1980, we return every summer for our annual "Reunion;" last year was the 20th anniversary of those reunions. We rent a big, comfortable house either on the Lake or with a fabulous view of the Lake and spend 4-5 days reminiscing or trying to re-create those crazy times. And we have a blast!
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
It's not on the Lake, doesn't even have a peek-a-boo view of the Lake, but the cabin is our little piece of the Lake! Originally we hoped to use it only for ourselves and friends, but financial reality set in, so we go there as often as we can, give our friends the best deal we can, and share it as a vacation rental on vrbo, our only source of renters.
We try to give renting it a personal touch and after 5 years of sharing our cabin with vrbo-ers, every single person or group who has stayed there has treated the cabin as if it were their own. It is as clean and pristsine as it was when we completed the remodel 5 years ago. It is so comfy and cozy, a perfect retreat, a place to go to "recharge", commune with nature and centrally located so that skiing, beaches, casinos, restaurants, are just minutes away.
Owner's Map of Black Bart
We came from the mid-west as college students for a summer job. Kathy and I have been friends since we met as black jack dealers at Sahara Tahoe in the early 1970's; it was a summer vacation that lasted for more than a decade! Eventually our lives went in various directions but our hearts and souls have been embedded in Lake Tahoe since that first summer. Kathy is now a casino manager in Reno and I have a career in real estate in the Bay Area - town of Los Gatos.

Thank you so much for renting us your lovely cabin. We had a great time. It was the kids first snow! We didn't get any fresh snow but they didn't know the difference:). Your place is terrific. I couldn't think of a more ideal place for this important "first" family memory. We will be back.

The cabin was well equipped with everything. My husband & I styaed with our dog about a week and we all enjoyed it. He was happy with internet connection, my dog loved hiking around the back yard with open spaces. The kitched was updated & I personally loved having mudroom. Anyway, we all really enjoyed & surely come back to this cabin. Also, Dee was really helpful with information in advance. Thanks, Dee!!

The cabin was a perfect home away from home, a welcoming place for me to lay my head. All the amenities were provided and everything Lake Tahoe has to offer was nearby. I hope the cabin will be available the next time I visit.

It was a real pleasure staying at your cabin and I hope to be able to do so again in the future. The many amenities and comforts made the week very pleasant. And your letter explaining the features and quirks of the place was very helpful.

We stayed here a couple of weekends ago. It was great! The house itself was very cute and cozy. The master bed was comfortable. My mom slept in the second bedroom and she said it was comfortable as well. The kitchen was spacious and it had everything you need. Nothing negative to say!!! Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us.
Owner response:Thank you for your very positive review! We are happy that you enjoyed your stay at the cabin, we try to keep it clean & comfortable for all our guests. We add personal touches every chance we get.

This cabin was perfect. We were planning to be tent camping this week to kick off the beginning of summer. The weather was not so great though and we decided on very short notice to rent this lovely cabin instead so we could at least be in the mountains. Good thing...it snowed on us the whole first day we were there. The cabin was warm and well stocked with all the comforts of home. We were very pleased with the quiet location (even quieter than a campground) and the overall comfort of this cabin. The owner was very easy to work with, and very accomodating to our last minute needs. Will definitely return to this quiet haven at some point! Thank You Dee!

We had a spectacular stay at the cabin. Everything is very neat, with lots of things for cooking, seasoning and a this litle things to feel at home. We notice that the owner uses the house often because it is in very good condition. The environment is a dream, with many trees, squirrels and a creek in the back of the house. Is in the middle of a pine forest that looks like a Walt Disney movie and so close to downtown, the casinoss and the ski resorts that you can"t imagine. We hope we will back soon.

Our children (6 and 3) have been begging to go "to the snow" for several years. This year we decided to do it. The cabin was absolutely perfect for our little family of 4. It is beautifully furnished, well heated, and very well stocked. There was a LOT of snow when we got there, but Dave was already in the process of plowing the driveway for us, and was all done by the time we got back from the grocery store. With a light dusting that night, we didn't have to leave the whole weekend. The kids sledded down the driveway and climbed in the mountains of snow. And it was so nice to come inside, and just throw all the wet clothes into the dryer right there in the mud room before going inside to get warm. Dee's instructions were very thorough, and she was very easy to communicate with. We will be looking to come back here again!
