Finca Sombrero y Camisas offers an alternative to a full service lodge. Comfortable, yet simple, this beautiful beachfront home is off the beaten trail. Take a break from time and connect with nature. The daily cycles are accentuated with lighting by candles and lanterns. There is no electricity, and no hot water, in this open air home. We are in the tropics here. Wake up to howler monkeys and enjoy sunrise across the Golfo Dulce, from the pristine beachfront, as you sip your morning coffee. Scarlet macaws fly overhead in pairs. Tucans swoop through the yard. Sometimes as many as four types of monkeys have been spotted on the property in one day. Spider monkeys fly overhead from tree to tree, and Colorado monkeys and Cara Blanca monkey families pass through here as well.
There is something here for everyone: waterfall hikes (and repelling), tree canopy tours, horseback riding, bird watching, yoga classes and surf lessons from the locals. It is private and peaceful, yet walking distance to great Mato Palo surf.
Curl up in a hammock and enjoy the nature all around you. Eat bananas, coconuts, papayas, mangos and pineapples that you picked or have fallen from the trees. There is a gas powered stove and oven, ice cooled refrigerator. And if you don’t feel like cooking, there is a great and bar restaurant within walking distance. |
