Hi Derek, We just arrived home in the US and are so happy we were in your apartment. It really is the best location in the city and we felt the most comfortable we've ever been away from home - we could have moved in permanently! It really was perfect and all the little extra touches of your interior decor, bathroom make-up mirror, walk-in closet, etc. made it even better than expected. Hi Derek We loved the flat – location was great, décor was tasteful, bed was a little harder than my back likes, but that is a problem I have in most places!It was so good being able to walk everywhere, and I loved those little cards with suggested walks that I found on your bookshelf.It was a real plus being so near to the 2 Gaudi buildings, so we were able to be at La Pedrera early enough to beat the crowds.We did a couple of days of the hop-on, hop-off bus tour to help us to get our bearings and decide what we wanted to explore further, and of course that was really close to the apartment as well.You were right about us not needing a car, so thanks for that advice as well.I’m sure we’ll come back to Barcelona , as we both loved it, so don’t be surprised if we contact you again in years to come.

Dear Derek, The location of your apartment was ideal. We were able to do and see alot ( museums, Sagrada Familia, etc.). We wished that we had more time in Barcelona. We did have a couple of hiccups at the start ( there was a bicycle race going on when we got in and the streets going to that part of the city were blocked off for awhile so we were a couple of hours late getting to the apartment). Derek, just got back in, I love to travel but I cant say I love the traveling part. Thank you for your prompt follow up and thanks for sharing your place with us. Where do I start. 1) Amazing location, we picked the Aerobus right outside the airport terminal and it dropped us off right across the stree from the apartment. The Passeig de Gracia is truly one of the most prestigious areas of the city right across the street from Casa Battlo and 3 blocks away from Casa Mila. Great coffee shops and restaurants and La Rambla all within walking distance. All the tourist attractions within a short walk or a quick hop on the Metro which was also very conveniently located accross the street. 2) The apartment was lovely and perfect for the my wife and I, spacious yet cozy at the same time and extremly well supplied. We bought some nice wines and goodies to snack on at the gourmet shop on Arago and we were all set. The WI-FI was nice to have. 3) Mariano and the building staff were great . Mariano was a real treat and he set the tone for the whole with his wa to come. The building porters were courteous and professional at all times. 4) Last but now least was Barcelona itself, what a fabulous city. Derek: Thank you so much for making it possible for us to stay at your apartment. We loved it! We didn´t use the washer as the weather was cooler and so we wore dark clothes. We weren´t sure if the dryer was combined with the washer or not. When we were visiting my daughter in New Zealand she had a unit which was both washer and dryer. We had a problem at the beginning getting the TV tuned into CNN - English version - but Mariani was quite helpful. He is a very nice young man. We also like the woman who did the cleaning even though we could not communicate with her too well. We had never been to Barcelona before and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves while we were there. It is truly a remarkable city and very easy to get around. The day we arrived it was pouring rain, but the weather continued to improve and so we had were able to enjoy walking and sightseeing. You were right. The area of Passeig de Gracia is the best location!!!! We loved the restaurant Citrus and had most of our dinners there because it was so convenient and the food was so good. I enjoyed having access to your books. The travel books were so useful as we did not have any of our own. It was only at the very last that we discovered the book in which you had highlighted the restaurants along with your comments. Next time, we will have to try some of them out. I enjoyed your books on art and wished that I had more time to spend devouring them. Again, thank you for being so helpful - right from the very beginning to the time when we finally made our booking. We tried to treat the apartment as our own and I hope that all was OK. The women who cleaned came a bit earlier than we had expected but she then left and came back later. Again thank you. We would love to stay at your apartment on another occasion as it was a big contributor to our having had such a wonderful visit. Valerie

Derek, We thoroughly enjoyed your apartment in Barcelona. It was perfect for our needs, and in such a great location. I walked one night with a friend back to the apartment where she was staying because she was nervous about walking down the dark, quiet street alone at night. I can honestly say that I never was uneasy at any time near your apartment. Not when I was with my husband, or when I was alone. The area was always busy, the apartment lobby well lit and the doorman always in evidence. The apartment itself was well furnished, quiet, and a great place to come "home" to every night. Mariano was great, and worked very hard to get the TV and internet working for us. The kitchen sink was stopped up when we arrived, and when he came back the day after we arrived to work on getting the TV to work, he also spent time unstopping the sink and making sure the kitchen was spotless before he left. If we return to Barcelona in the future, we will surely rent your apartment again. Debra

Dear Derek Back to reality.......work!! Just a bit of elaboration on our Barcelona stay. Thanks again for your insight in the lead up - our favourite restaurant experience? Taktika Berri!!! Not only for the food, atmosphere & 'the real thing' experience, it took us to the west side of Passeig de Gracia which was by far our favourite area - pretty much from Diagonal to the La Boqueria market (which really was marvellous & indulged). We expected a lively culture, history, architecture etc but not at the scale that is Barcelona. Preferred it to Paris. We loved it, participated in toursit run stuff in great weather for the first 3 days (including a day trip to Monserrat & Sitges) & then just took our time walking the areas, consuming & chilling out using bits of those self guided walking cards in your book case. Barcelona has about the same population as Perth & metro suburbia but condensed into about a quarter of the area. No substitute for 2000 years of history i'm afraid. Perth is as good a home base as you can get, but only with reasonably regular escapes & we chose the right ones in Barcelona & the old villages in Provence. Was hard to leave each destination. Ireland was great also. The apartment was a comfortable & amazingly quiet retreat (thank you for double glazing) in definitely the best location for us. It was the right choice for our purpose & so glad we got it. Anyway, thanks again & all the best. Look us up if you ever get the desire to travel 30 hours to oz. Cheers Jeff & Sandy

Hi Derek Just got back a couple of hours ago and am checking up on all the masses of work emails before return to work tomorrow! The apartment was great. Thank you. The location couldn't be better and it was extremely comfortable. In fact am going to debenhams to buy a similar duvet as it was so nice! :-) The young lady who showed us in was very pleasant and helpful and I can honestly say we had no problems whatsoever. We did find the apartment to be of excellent standard and would definitely use your services again. The apartment was clean and spacious and the location was ideal. Everything worked fine. Hello there I stayed at the Passeig de Gracia 44 apartment. There could be no better location to enjoy the city centre and it's perfect for transportation as well (Metro, Airbus to the Airport and more). The owner, Mr. Olivares, is very nice and talks a very good English so there won't be problems with communication. He made sure we had all the comforts for our stay. The apartment is warm and welcoming. We stayed in 4 and never had a single problem with room. Although it's designed for 2, 4 people is the best option to save some money without having to go away from the centre.
