Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2000
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. After traveling for work all over Europe, I fell in love with Spain, the Mediterranean Sea, the lovely Spanish culture, the amazing food and the Spanish people. After spending time in the Valencia Region, I fell in love with Altea and bought this villa. A couple of years later, the movie, "Under the Tuscan Sun" came out and my friends told me it remeinded them of my adventure in Spain, remodeling the villa and getting to know the charm of this beautiful town!
Why the Owner Chose Altea
It is a charming small town, with a strong Spanish culture and artist community, yet so cosmopolitan. I love being so close to the incredible Med Sea. And, in less than an hour in any direction you can be in some of the most wonderful places!
The Unique Benefits of this Villa
Unbelievable views, great location, and spacious comfortable Spanish charm, and great weather.

Love Villa Charlotte and no puedo esperar volver

We stayed at Villa Charlotte for 2 weeks in August. Villa Charlotte and the owners are amazing. Everything from the first contact about renting the property to our final day was a sincere pleasure. I have rented many homes around the world including Belize, Nicaragua, Spain, Turkey, Germany and Italy and this by far was my best experience. The house is incredibly well maintained, the kitchen has high end appliances and the master bedrooms are spacious if not grand. Our party included my 6 year old daughter and the 2 year old of my friend and they had a ball. I loved the fact that we were 10 minutes away from great beaches including Calpe where we spent most of our time. We also loved using the true barbecue right by the pool and even tried real wood one night! And for those workaholics like myself, the house is completely wired and I had no problem connecting with my office in NYC when I needed to. Can't wait to go back again next year. I can't thank Mary enough for a wonderful experience.

My family and I recently spent a glorious 10 days at this villa in Altea. It was a perfect vacation. The town itself has so much to offer. Fantastic food, great people, a wonderful community of artists, great architecture and beautiful beaches. Although it was too cool to hang out on the beaches this time of year, we desperately want to return in the summer. The villa is absolutely gorgeous. Fantastic views of the mountains and the sea. The villa is very functional. We cooked many meals in the kitchen and even ate outside on the spacious patio. Mary, the owner, was so helpful to us before we arrived. She gave us many suggestions of places to eat and places to go and visit nearby. Pepe, the man who takes care of the house was so friendly and helpful as well. My children and I are planning on returning in the summer. It was a dream vacation. Thank you Mary for all of your kindness and generosity. I now know why you love it there so much!

In early October 2009 six of us spent a glorious week here and it was everything and more that we expected. The information in the accommodation section is quite accurate as is the other information given by Mary. The villa is fabulous and the surroundings are incredibly picturesque. A huge benefit is that we immediately felt as though we blended in with the Spanish population and customs rather than simply feeling we were tourists. The terrace of the kitchen which also includes a large and beautiful swimming pool, is a perfect place for entertaining or simply winding down after the days outings and a late dinner. We all enjoyed gathering on the terrace(the weather was perfect) and enjoying the views, conversation and the sangria. After dinner we did the same and we immediately began keeping Spanish hours. The nearby restaurants in Altea, "Old" Altea. and nearby towns were fabulous with local/regional food. The nearby beaches were wonderful and day trips to Valencia, Alicante et. al. were easily made. Mary was available and incredibly accommodating which was an added benefit as she has a wealth of information about the area, restaurants etc. Not only is the Villa a gem and quite roomy and luxurious, but the location is tremendous as it is conducive to not feeling like a tourist, but rather like a local. without any hesitation whatsoever, I heartily encourage anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable vacation to stay in the Villa.

We were a group of 10 including 5 kids and an elderly person and the house was perfect. It is well maintained and it is easy to relax in it. The pool is wonderful, we all enjoyed it very much. The location is nice because it is not in the heart of the city were the traffic can be brutal in the summer. The owner is very nice as she easily responded to all of our questions and offered a lot of pre-departure information. Would easily recommend this house

I give this home in Spain the highest rating. This is a beautiful place to stay, the pool is great and the town of Altea is perfect. The house overlooks a beautiful golf course, the town of Altea, and the Mediteranian Sea. We had 8 people and we were very comfortable. The house easily accomodated all of us and in style. The location, location, location is awesome. We really felt like we saw authentic Spain and traveled only close to the house to Calpe, Alicante, and Benidorm. We spent time on several different beaches all within a 15 minute drive. I strongly recommend this house and location. Enjoy your trip to Spain . . . wish I was there now!

Villa Charlotte is heaven. We stayed with our two young children and extended family and had a wonderful two-week vacation in Altea. The pool, situated on a gorgeous terrace overlooking the hills of Altea, is amazing (day and night!). The house is spacious and comfortable, appointed with pretty Spanish tiles and furniture. We found the location to be perfect in terms of day trips to other towns, beaches and local attractions. The owner is delightful, gracious and so very helpful in planning your stay. We would absolutely rent Villa Charlotte again. A fabulous vacation all around!

We spent 2 delightful weeks in this beautiful Villa and we had the time of our life. Altea is a peaceful beautiful area with plenty of great restaurants and attractions nearby, all easily accessable. The Villa is in the mountains and is private and secluded. It has a beautiful pool and a breathtaking view that is to die for especially in the evening. You can see the sea and all the pretty lights from the town. Mary is prompt and very easy to deal with. Her help at the Villa, headed by Peppe, are friendly, curteous and very obliging. Invest in a couple of weeks in this Villa and you won't be disappointed. Thanks Mary we had a great time.
