Playa Grande Casitas is a very tranquil property that's great for families, couples and groups. We offer a more affordable and spacious alternative to hotel rooms, and are walking distance to everything. Playa Grande Casitas is located in the exclusive Palm Beach Estates section of Playa Grande, and is within strolling distance of the beach, estuary, restaurants, mini-grocery, and the tip of the peninsula where a ponga can be hailed to ferry you across the mouth of the estuary to Tamarindo.
This eclectic enclave of accomodations is built under the canopy of an old growth grove of giant guanacaste trees whose dappled shade provides a comfortable poolside environment... especially after a long day in the sun. Our accomodations include 4 Studios and 2 One Bedroom Apartments... each unit sleeps 3 adults. Rent one or bring a group and rent all!
The Studios are simply adorable and very comfortable. Each Studio has a queen sized bed as well as a day bed that doubles as a couch. The open beam teak wood ceilings add a sense of warmth to the Studios, and a wall of built-in teak shelving, drawers and hanging closet provide ample storage space. Each Studio has an open air kitchenette on the veranda, complete with everything you need, including a full 3/4 size refrigerator / freezer for groceries and a coffee maker. There is indoor dining for two, and open air dining for four. The bathrooms have large walk in showers (yes... hot water!), and of course we provide a safe box.
The One Bedroom Apartments, built as owners units, are a showplace of Tico craftsmanship... all of the doors, windows and cabinetry were hand crafted by local master craftsman. The full sized kitchen is again, complete with everthing you need, and boasts beautiful granite countertops and breakfast bar. There is outdoor dining for four, plus comfortable Adirondack seating on an oversized veranda overlooking the pool. The bedroom is bright and airy, and has a huge closet, and of course an oversized laptop safebox. These are nice apartments!
The grounds outside are immaculate... with blanco pedra ground cover and flagstone walking paths with accent lights for night time safety. The sparkling blue tiled pool is one of the nicest in Playa Grande... with an oversized natural flagstone patio and plenty of teak poolside furniture. Ask Carlos to break out the Gas Grill for a poolside BBQ!
Playa Grande Casitas is the perfect place for destination weddings, particularly for the budget conscious. Echange vows on the beach at sunset, then wander back to the property for a catered open air dinner and poolside dancing. Your entire wedding party will want to come back for your anniversary!

Playa Grande is a special place... and I realized this when I first set foot upon it. One month later, and I was under contract to purchase Playa Grande Casitas. It's where I want to be... in the middle of a national park, beautiful beach, flora and wildlife... and plenty of building restrictions so that this sanctuary will not be over built.

Hello... I'm Roger Bartakovits, the creator of JustAskLocals dot com, which hosts Playa Grande's community website. I've been living in Houston, TX since 2001, Baton Rouge for 4 yrs prior and Southern Cal for 12 years before that. I'm a Chemical Engineer who crossed over to the business side of things many years ago, and work for a fortune 100 company here in Houston. Looking forward to an early semi-retirement in Playa Grande, Costa Rica where I am the majority owner of wonderful set of vacation rentals named Playa Grande Casitas.
I'm a techno-hobbiest, and began playing around with the concept of developing a community website ~3 years ago after I began to get involved with the local Playa Grande community and realized the challenges that this boutique vacation community faced in regard to communication and organization. JustAskLocals evolved from those early efforts.
I'm looking forward to improving upon JustAskLocals and expanding the concept to other boutique vacation communities. I'm hoping that JusAskLocals evolves into a fun second career, and provides the opportunity to make a positive difference by raising funds for local schools. One can dream...
