This five bedroom, three and-a-half bath home is tucked on three acres one-fourth of a mile from Truro Center. Off Castle Rd., it is a mile to Corn Hill Beach on Cape Cod Bay, and Ballston Beach on the Atlantic Ocean in the National Seashore. The beaches are an easy drive or bike ride, and Truro Center is a short walk.
The house was built in 1984, and the kitchen expanded in 2004. The style would be called "traditional". The house was built for large families, and is child friendly. There is a long deck off the back of the house for picnicking and relaxing. There is a meadow-like area in front of the house with a picnic table and chairs. It is very much an outdoor oriented house, with lots of privacy provided by the trees. There is a small caretaker's cottage on the property, up the driveway in the woods.
The layout of the house is as follows: downstairs has one bedroom with twin beds and a full bath. The living room opens onto the deck. The kitchen is open to the dining room. The family room, with television and futon, is off the dining room, and also opens onto the kitchen. The dining table seats twelve easily, with a square table nearby for more seating. The kitchen has an eating counter, also doubling as a computer counter with phone jack. The laundry room is off the kitchen, and has a second refrigerator. A half bath is off the laundry room. The outdoor shower is accessed via the kitchen.
Upstairs are four bedrooms. The Master has a queen bed, and a small study area where a crib has gone in past summers. A full bath is across the hall from the master. Next to the master bedroom is a bedroom with a king sized bed. Next to that is a bedroom with twin beds. The fourth bedroom has a double bed. There is a second bathroom off the upstairs hall. Each bedroom has its own closet. Maximum occupancy is 12; one queen aerobed is okay. Inquiries for more than 12 people, inclusive of infants and children will not be considered.
Availability: The house is available May until June 30. It is used by family June 30 thru July 30. It is available July 31 thru Columbus Day weekend. August thru Labor Day is $3900/week. September (after Labor Day) is $2000/week. October is $1500/week. A minimum of one week's rent is required. Discount is available for 2 week, or more, rental.

Year Purchased: 1984
The land this house is built on has been in the fanmly since 1963. My parents bought the "old cape" on the adjacent land in 1963. My 3 siblings and I built this house in 1984. It has been a "summer home" to our family since that time. We opened it up to VRBO 5 years ago, as we realized we all left in August to our various jobs! We have rented it steadily thru VRBO since then.
Our guests have loved it for its seclusion, proximity to Truro center, and equidistance to bay and ocean. It was designed by my mother (still hail and hearty) as a family house - 2 living areas, huge kitchen, and lots of deck and lawn space.
All our tenants have loved it - it works well for two families sharing.
Why the Owner Chose Truro
Truro os so special - National Seashore, quiet and beautiful beaches, hiking/biking, sailing, seafood...you name it. My parents had the vision to buy in Truro 45 years ago, and no regrets.
