We are just back from a stay at Dalwhinnie and it was a wonderful experience. Everything was just as pictured in the listing. The views were everywhere with all the windows. There was 8 of us and we all had plenty of room. The many porches and rockers gave us a chance to be alone and read if we wished, but the great room was large enough for us all to gather as well. I highly recommend this property and the owner was very helpful in getting us information and responding to questions.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

We took our daughter and her family with us for a week in the Dalwhinnie Cottage, and what a terrific time was had by all. The home is gorgeous inside and out. The Rollins have decorated beautifully, the kitchen is totally equipped, linens and towels are lovely. We felt very much at home. The location couldn't be better, what can be better than waking up to the sunrise over the ocean. We came prepared with food for the week, so we could make our meals and enjoy them in the house. There were games aplenty, and we had lots of competition. If you like relaxing and reading, the chairs are so very comfortable. The outdoor furniture is great and there is somewhere to sit on every side of the home, porches galore. Having two golf carts really helps when you have more than 4 people in the house. We did not use the grill, but it is right there for you to take advantage of at any time. There were plenty of beach chairs and tons of beach towels. Having the outdoor shower was such a plus, also. We were very lucky with a gorgeous week with perfect weather, warm days and cool nights. We were all sad to leave, but looking forward to our next visit to Dalwhinnie. Thanks again to the Rollins for an unforgettable vacation.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We visited Dalwhinnie Cottage September 2010. It was an amazing vacation and such a nice beach house. It was well taken care of and was so well stocked (boogie boards, sand toys, beach chairs, towels etc). The owners were very efficient and easy to get in touch with from day one. Bald Head Island is my new favorite beach. It is such a natural, beautiful place. The wildlife is amazing. Loved it! Highly recommend it!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

This house is our favorite place for relaxation in the world! We have spent our last 3 spring school vacations here and hope to continue for many years to come. The home is incredibly well appointed and the location magnificent! Our 4 girls (ages 13 to 5) await each spring break with baited breath, as do we. I am confident that this property will exceed your expectations...enjoy! Rosemary Cape Elizabeth, MEDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Wonderful stay at Dalwhinnie! We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a house on the beach in an ideal location (near point but also 5 minutes from the market). The house is just as gorgeous as the photos show. We loved having the internet and access to house games and bikes. The most wonderful feature is the second floor big room that includes the kitchen - bar - and living area. The views out of the big windows and off the 2 decks are amazing. What a fabulous place to relax! Also, calling all cooks! The kitchen is stocked with an array of utensils and small appliances that will make the cooking experience much easier. The family cook also feels part of the gang due to the open room feel. The owner is delightful and made our lives much easier by providing instructions for our stay. We felt like she was looking out for us. It was nice. We highly recommend!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

I rented Dalwhinnie for a surprise getaway for my wife's 40th birthday. Three other couples joined us, and it was a GREAT trip. The cottage is all that it was advertised to be -- very inviting w/ great layout and views of the ocean, and easy beach access. The Shoals Club just down the road offered great amenities as well. The island is a wonderful place. The owners were a pleasure with which to work. We'll definitely be back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

My wife and I were fortunate to have both sets of parents spend a week with us in the Dalwhinnie and it was fantastic. The house is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the beautiful beach. We couldn't have been happier! It truly feels like a home away from home.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 6/7

Words cannot describe how wonderful our week was at Dalwhinnie. Your home is just beautiful and every amenity was well thought out and just perfect. BHI is a special place and one that I hope we can return to for many years to come. We did not end up using the Shoals Club as your beach is just too beautiful to leave. Thank you soooo much for all of your assistance making our first trip one that we will never forget. Please stay in touch. Ken Koch East Hampton, NYDid you find this review helpful? What a delightful place is Dalwhinnie Cottage! It is obvious that the owners of this well-cared for beach-front home have made every effort to predict the needs of their guests as we relax and unwind into the gifts of Bald Head Island. Dalwhinnie is beautifully decorated, sparkling clean and comfortable, sometimes a difficult combination to achieve in a beach house. The island itself is brimming with opportunities to be in and about nature. We saw dolphin from the house deck, osprey building their nests and a formation of pelicans headed out for a day of fishing. Our vacation at Dalwhinnie is at the top of my list!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 6/7

I recently came back from a girls weekend and we had a great time. The house was wonderful and the views were fabulous. All 6 of us felt that the house was wonderfully decorated and felt like home. The kitchen was well equipped and we had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend. We all said we'd come back to Dalwhinnie Cottage!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/4

A lovely home with every comfort, this is a heavenly place. Located on an island that has not succumbed to commercialism, it is the perfect getaway. When things get hectic I continually go back there in my mind.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

Dalwhinnie Cottage is a beautiful house on a beautiful island. My husband and I were married on the island and keep coming back to Dalwhinne again and again. The views are fantastic. You can wake up with a cup of coffee in the morning and sit on one of the decks, enjoying the waves and the sea breeze without even getting out of your pajamas! The beaches are not crowded either. You can set up an umbrella and spend the day swimming, looking for sea shells, playing beach games, or building sandcastles without interference. There are also nature hikes around the island through the maritime forest, biking around the island, golf, kayaking/canoeing in the marsh or just exploring the island in the golf cart. The set up of Dalwhinnie is wonderful too. The 2nd floor kitchen/dining room/living room combination with windows all the way around allow you to spend your time inside enjoying the views as well. Even the thunderstorms are breathtaking! I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a comfortable and relaxing get away!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 6/6

Standing at the expansive 2d story living room windows, enjoying the early morning view of the water, I was surprised by a flock of pelicans, who cruised so near the windows, I felt I could have touched them! The serenity and views allow the mind to imagine and wonder. Thanks for opening your beautiful home for tranquil and refreshing visits!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 6/6
