LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION.... You will not find a better ski-in ski-out location in Big Sky. Walk out the door, strap on your skis and go ski directly to the Thunderwolf High speed Quad. Northern Lights is a Log Home with four bedrooms, three full baths. This home has a warm and rustic Montana decor. It is located at the end of a cul-de-sac with lots of privacy and great views of Beehive Basin and Spanish Peaks. It is one of the "true" Ski In / Ski Out homes in Big Sky. You can walk to the lodge at the base of Big Sky Resort with its restaurants, bars, shops and ski/board rentals. You won't find a better location in Big Sky summer or winter. Very private, yet close to everything...
There are two king guest rooms (one with private bath), 1 queen guest bedroom, and the bunk room has two log bunk beds with private reading lights and sleeps four adults or children (Bunk beds are extra Long twins). The large loft also has a queen hide-a-bed, a large big screen TV, a computer and fax machine in case you absolutely have to keep in touch with work or family who missed the trip. Bring your laptop and utilize the FREE, high-speed Wi-Fi connection. Let the kids watch the big screen TV in the loft using DirecTV or DVD's or they can play board games (provided) in the loft while you enjoy the comfortable great room on the main level, which also has an additional flat screen plasma TV and DVD. For a little romance or warmth, load up the large Montana Mossy rock fireplace in the great room with logs supplied with the home.
The kitchen features a New Jennaire range/oven, dishwasher, microwave and refrigerator. The kitchen counter tops are granite and the island bar separating the kitchen from the dining area has seating for four, so you can accommodate even more guests for dinner, or sip on a drink and supervise the cooks in the kitchen before dinner. The large dining room table seats eight guests and add a leaf to the table to seat ten or more.
After a hard day on the slopes, or a summer afternoon of hiking, river rafting or golf, come back and relax in your own "private" (swimsuits are optional; it is that private) hot tub.
In addition to skiing, head out the door to some of the best hiking and snow shoeing, and you are only a short drive to some of the best golf and fishing that Montana has to offer. Just out front is great sledding for the kids with multiple sleds in the garage. We offer full 24/7 concierge services and will have your refrigerator stocked prior to your arrival upon request, or fax your grocery order directly to the Hungry Moose Market & Deli for delivery prior to your arrival.
You also can access the Moonlight or Huntley Lodge Spa's for a fee where you can swim in the heated indoor/outdoor pools, exercise in the gym, enjoy the sauna or have a great massage or facial. Massage therapists will also come to our home.

Why the Owner Chose Mountain Village
Skiing in Big Sky is great since there are no lift lines to speak of and it has the biggest skiing in the US in terms of acres of skiable terrain. Also, I love skiing the glades (i.e. in the area between runs that Big Sky thinned out so you are basically skiing in the trees with fresh powder long after the main runds are skied out. Having a true ski-in/ski-out home is the only way to go with a large family that starts and stops skiing at different times.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
Ski in and ski out; privacy yet short walk to Big Sky Mountain Village and restaurants & shopping; good views of Beehive Canyon; love the hot tub after hard day skiing or early in morning; in summer lots of animals including bears, moose, deer and elk.
Owner's Map of Mountain Village
We love Montana, summer and winter. Our log home is a great place to entertain friends and family. Our sister owns a log home immediately adjacent to ours so we can accommodate all of our siblings and their children. We have been coming to Big Sky since the 1970's and this is the best home location we have had for skiing accress in the winter and hiking in the summer plus we love to go thorugh Yellowstone Park in both summer and winter.

Great Ski-In / Ski-Out Location

Great ski-in / ski-out location on quiet street in Big Sky, yet very close to mountain village area. Home has all of the amenities needed for a ski-trip - gas grill, hot tub and fireplace - and will comfortably sleep 10 people. Purchasing lift tickets in the village in the evenings, we were able to wake up, ski down the driveway and onto the trail leading to the Thunderwolf Lift. Depending on snow conditions, ski-in access is either simply down the road (kept smooth for this purpose) or through the trees off of the War Dance run. Our group of 8 people had a great time and would definitely return.

This house is all it's advertised to be. It's seconds to the quad Thunder Wolf lift, but quiet and private. It's large enough to sleep up to 10, but cozy enough for 2! It's very clean and well maintained; I didn't want to leave. Thanks so much!

We just returned from a week's stay in Northern Lights. We had some snow for two days and then 5 days of sun! We took full advantage of all that you had to offer. We skiied home for lunch and at the end of the day(some by Road, some by the treacheries of War Dance). It was one of our kids' favorite trails. The kids also loved the sleigh riding and built elaborate snow forts - while we marveled at their energy and our lack of energy. They loved the bunk room! We had several great fires and a few dinners at the generous dining table. The ski racks in the garage also came in handy and the combo lock at the front door saved us losing a key. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

Our family thoroughly enjyed your home last winter and the skiing was the best I have experienced in years with lots of new snow. The hot tub hit the spot and we used it every day after skiing. The ability to ski directly to Thunderwolf lift really was convenient so the kids could start skiing when they wanted and the adults could start after we had limbered up. We were very pleasantly surprised and impressed with the new furnishings you installed since last year. Very cozy and warm. Wish there was much snow as last year, but we still had a great time. we will be back
