Your villa is in one of THE most historic areas of the city, Belém offers almost too much - both of Lisbon's World Heritage Sites, Jerónimos Monastery and the Torre de Belém, the Presidents palace with guardsmen decked out in 19th Century uniforms, a unique coach museum and a world class maritime museum. There is the famous Pasteis de Belém cafe, a whole row of interesting restaurants set in 16th Century buildings, the Belém Cultural centre with its exhibitions and concerts, the planetarium, and botanical gardens.
The Tagus river runs under the bridge that looks like the Golden gate presided over by the Christ the King statue, Rio de Janeiro has a look-alike, you might catch a glimpse of the QE2 or the QM2 or one of the many cruise ships that sail out to sea passed your back yard. Sail boats and regattas leave and return to the nearby marinas and the electric train line takes you along the rivers edge to Estoril and its casino, Cascais that picturesque fishing village or just to the many wide sandy beaches of the Portuguese Riviera.
Transport is very easy with the modern tram and buses to the centre of the city from the stop just outside the villa. A car is definitely not necessary, but street parking and nearby car-park are free, if you wish to take advantage of villas great setting with its easy access that avoids the inner city traffic to the main roads towards the Portuguese Riviera, Sintra and beyond or south over the bridge to the Algarve only three hours away!
