Nestled among the Cedar trees, our home is ideal for a family or shared family vacation retreat. The dead-end road is great for kids to ride bikes, roller blades or skate board. Because there are no dunes or bluffs, our home offers direct, private, and FULL water access and fun to play. It's easy to watch kids from the house or deck.
We are able to offer our home on a year-round basis with both heat and central air conditioning. An OFF-SHORE MOORING is available for an extra $50 per week and can accommodate a 30' boat. The home includes a 5 person paddle boat for your use to enjoy the bay or provide transportation to the mooring! Don't have a boat? There are nearby rentals to deliver boats, kayaks, or water toys right to the shore or house.
Enjoy your "Up North" getaway with all the comforts of home. Wall to wall carpet in the main rooms and bedrooms plus each bedroom boasts newer beds and linens. If you've never experienced an outdoor shower, you won't want to miss this, it's truly special!
The stainless appliances make your cooking and cleanup a breeze. The great room provides a large table to accommodate up to 12 people and an additional table for up to 4 plus outdoor dining on the adjacent deck. Between the home and the water is another deck level, sand area and outdoor fire ring.
There are no dunes to climb making for easy access to the water front. Check out the water mat link on our website, it's similar to a trampoline but on the water like a magic carpet. Bring your watershoes for more comfort along the waters edge and for walking the shore.
Northport is a quaint waterfront town with boat launch, marina, shopping, hiking and more. The village is conveniently located at the tip of the peninsula making it convenient to visit neighboring Leland, Sutton’s Bay, Glen Lake, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and just a 30 minute trip to Traverse City for the annual Film Festival or Cherry Festival. There are many benefits to spending your vacation on the bay vs. on Lake Michigan. If you enjoy the water, you’ll love the calm and relative warmth of the bay. We welcome you to our home and hope that you enjoy your vacation in Leelanau County.
A great Girl Scout campfire tip - recycle your old egg cartons, prefer cardboard, and lint from the dryer plus your half used candles. Using an old kettle as double boiler with another sturdy pan or other open mouth kettle, fill the pot half way with water and place the kettle in the water. Fill the kettle with your old candles and melt them down. Place the lint in the openings of the egg cartons. Then pour the hot melted wax over the lint. Lint, wax, and cardboard are outstanding firestarters for your campfire! I keep my recycled egg cartons next to my dryer and fill them weekly. I usually wait until I have half dozen or so before I melt wax and make the starters.
Enjoy your campfire!

Why the Owner Chose Northport
We discovered Northport in the early 80's and found it to be one of the most picturesque and relaxing places around. After years of visiting we made the decision to purchase our own home. Though it's a long drive for us, we find it to be worth every minute. The quaint village of Northport and neighboring towns are perfect for our family and friends. This is a great esacape from the hectic city life of Chicago.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Our location is perfect. We have just the right balance of proximity to town while also enjoying the seclusion of being nestled in the trees. After spending time in other areas, we appreciate being able to use the water and not worry about currents or waves. Calm, peaceful, safe, friendly, and just simply beautiful!

We had a wonderful time staying at the house. It was very nice to relax and have our coffee in the morning down by the water while the kids played on the beach. The only problem was our stay was too short.

This cottage had everything we were expecting and more! Dana was a wonderful host and extremely helpful when it came to the amenities of the cottage. The location in within walking distance to the town and is also on a private road with a cul de sac. The cottage was beautiful and well appointed, clean and fit all of us perfectly! We are so happy to have stayed at this property and would highly recommend it to others. Dana and Joe thought of everything when it came to this property. The outdoor shower was convenient for the kids and a unique feature. For the beach, bringing water shoes is a must because the shore leading to the water is very rocky and can't really be navigated comfortably with bare feet. The water is crystal clear and is good for wading and playing on the water mat. We liked that the water was calm for the kids to play in safely. We made use of the paddle boat to view the beautiful scenery during the day and enjoyed the fire pit at night...so much fun! Overall, I would highly suggest staying at this property because the owners were very helpful and polite in answering all of our many questions, the property was kept extremely clean, and the location was great!

Thanks for sharing your amazing house with our families. We will always remember this house as the awesome place with the cool mat in the lake. Most of our time in the days we'd play on that for hours! Thanks again.

We've arrived and are thoroughly enjoying your place in Northport. For the past several years this has been a favorite place of ours and your home is meeting our needs quite nicely. I can tell a lot of thought has gone into this place to make renters feel at home...thank you so much for that. It has been a pleasure to experience life on the lake, "bay side." We enjoyed the water, sunshine & your place. it was very accomodating for our families. I enjoyed a magnificent sunrise this morning. The colors changed minute by minute. Thanks for sharing your lovely place with us.

Plain and Simple ~ We love 571 On The Bay. The kids romped on the water mat. The water was clear and beautiful, and we felt immediately at home, in the comforts of this warm inviting place. "Up North" Michigan is the place we consider our happy place, and we are glad to ad Northport to our list of "a slice of heaven on earth." We will return to create more memories.
