This was our first trip to Hawaii/Maui and the condo and Island was everything we hoped for. The owners had provided us with great recommendation prior to arriving. (Thanks a bunch Judy & Jerry) We saw giant Sea Turtles daily right outside near the sea wall and on our second day… Humpback Whales, Awesome! The condo was more than we could have ever expected with the best view of the ocean around, and at well below the “big” hotel prices. Beautiful and very clean, our condo had all the accommodations you could want. Amazingly comfortable bed, all the items needed to cook or grill, even some assorted coolers to use during our day trips! We had cable TV when relaxing after a long day and Wi-Fi in the condo was secured (bonus). The grounds around the condo are immaculate and the pool, beach and shoreline were breathtaking. It felt like our own private retreat. We will defiantly be returning to condo 411 again. : )
Owner response:Aloha John and Christine, Msny thanks for your execellent review and kind words. Regards, Jerry and Judy

My mom and I stayed in Jerry and Judy's place for a week in September 2011 and it was just perfect! The unit is spacious, immaculate, and comfortable. The deck has one of the best views on the island. The kitchen was well stocked and the building is in great shape. Kahana is a great location in between the bustle of Lahaina and the beaches on the northwest side of the island. We felt welcomed by the neighbors and by Jerry and Judy, who provided a wealth of information for us to maximize our stay on Maui. I can't wait for my next visit to the island and to this condo!

Owners were very helpful providing us with information before arrival on what to see and do around the area, grocery and restaurants. The grounds were very well kept and the views spectacular. Condo was spacious, clean, quiet and well stocked. Air conditioning would have been a plus but the fans worked as there was always a nice breeze. Happy we had a car and traveled the Island. We would go back in a heart beat. Thanks Jerry you made it easy for us. Elke and Mark

My wife and I stayed in this unit in late May. Everything was as stated in the description. Jerry was a gracious host and we met him while we were there. The condo was clean and stocked with some of the things needed. It looks like people leave things they don't use ( salt, pepper, sugar, paper towels, paper plates and cups etc.) when they go home. We didn't find the cooler at first so we bought a styrofoam one. Didn't use it, left it behind. The sunset views were amazing. We have many pictures. Condo is close to Lahina and several restaurants and beaches. The Chinese restaurant across the street is very good. Better than anything we have found since moving to Texas. (sorry Texans) If we ever planned to return to Maui (which we do), and if we were to stay on the west side, we have no reason not to stay at the condo. Parking, laundry facilities, barbeque grill, lounge chairs by the water all A-ok!!. Thank you Mr. and Mrs.D. for a wonderful weeki!!
Owner response:Thank you for your feedback Phil and Jean. We stock all the paper goods and Rose leaves only the non-perishable items like the ones you mentioned. Guests have indicated their appreciation of this gesture. Numerous guests have shared their enjoyment of meals at the China Boat too. We are so happy to learn that you had "wonderful week" and look forward to your return. Mahalo, Jerry & Judy

We had an absolutely wonderful time in Maui. Our stay at Kahana Reef was very enjoyable. You couldn't ask for a better view. The sunsets are amazing and we even saw a whale from the balcony. Jerry was very helpful with suggestions of local attractions and money saving ideas. The location was ideal for most all the activities we included in our vacation. We took advantage of the grill a couple of nights which was a real plus. The privacy that Kahana offers is rare. We enjoyed star gazing and listening to the sound of the surf from the unit. If (when) we return to Maui we will definitely be looking Jerry and Judy up! Breakfast at the Gazebo was fantastic - Thanks for suggesting that Jerry!

My husband and I stayed at this condo during whale watching time. What a beautiful sight right before your eyes. The sunsets were awsome. The condo was well appointed, we didn't need a thing and very clean. We enjoyed meeting you Jerry and will use your condo again. You and Judy were very nice to work with. Grounds were immaculate and the grills were so nice to use. Thanks you for the suggestion of the Warren and Annabelle show. It was great. Would recommend Gazebos for breakfast.

We have a wonderful time in Maui. Our Stay at Kahana Reef was very nice when you consider the great price...it was very clean, good location, and an exquisite view of the Whales. We had spent alot of time and money doing a bunch of real fun stuff while on Maui and things aren't cheap there so to have found such a nice apartment as this one for such a reasonable price, we didn't feel so bad spending money on helicopter rides, golf etc. If your holiday intentions are much like ours....to be out and about everyday, this is the place for you. However, if you are looking for a lay around the pool type of holiday and perhaps meeting some people to hang out with at your accomodations, you probably won't find this to be the place for you. People are not the most outgoing we found. They pretty much just keep to themselves. And there is no beach. The pool is small and the chairs are old and not the most comfortable. But again, to go to Maui and have the time of your life at such a reasonable price...we were over the top delighted. Thank you very much Jerry and Judy for the use of your apartment. We would love to return in a few years from now. Aloha !!!!!
Owner response:We're so pleased that you had such a wonderful time. Guests frequently comment about the friendliness of the staff and others around the complex and rate it as a real plus. There is a beach adjacent to our property where folks stroll (or run)and others gather seashells. All of the lounge chairs have been refurbished recently and are considered comfortable by most. Keep us in mind when you return! J & J

This well appointed condo has more than everything needed to make your visit in Maui memorable. Located a short distance north of the hustle and bustle of Lahaina, you can opt for excitement or relaxation. This is an older complex (but totally renovated) so it has full direct ocean front units that feel like you could jump from your deck and land in the ocean. The newer ones have obscured distant views and hundreds of units so you feel like cattle, not like the pampered guest of Kahana Reef. This unit has some kitchen items we do not even have at home. Jerry and Judy are very gracious hosts and provide a wealth of information on the best restaurants, excursions and tourist activities. The grounds are immaculate (they rake leaves from the lawn each day) .You meet the nicest people at the pool and the Jenn Air barbecues if you choose to do some grilling? Be sure to get tickets to Warren and Annabelle's Magic Show before leaving home (they are almost always sold out by the time you get to Maui). We will definitely revisit this unit!
Owner response:Michael and Ann -- Thank you so much for your gracious compliments! It is always satisfying to know that others enjoy Kahana Reef as much as we do. Warren & Annabelle -- What a show! It's helpful to hear that you both enjoyed it too! Our door is always open -- please do return again. Mahalo, Jerry & Judy

We had a fantastic time playing in the ocean (swimming with sea turtles), eating from a variety of excellent restaurants (Chi-chi's and Lava Flows were to die for), and sightseeing in the warm weather. Our highlights were the turtles at Napili Beach, mangoes and papayas from the Farmer's Market, and drinks at Lu lu's in Lahiana. Had a great time. Can't wait until our next vacation so we can do it all again and more.

The unit was exactly as described in the condo description and in the photos. The owners were so kind, gracious and caring; it felt more like a second home rather than a rental. I felt like Judy and Jerry really cared about us and wanted to ensure we had a magical vacation. The apartment and the entire complex were immaculate. Everything needed to enjoy your vacation are provided in the apartment, with a very organized and well-appointed kitchen and a closet stocked with a cooler, beach chairs and beach towels. The constant breeze blowing through the apartment was always welcome and refreshing. We had a relaxed breakfast on the lanai each morning, looking out at the ocean, feeling the breeze, and gazing at the beautiful landscaping. The complex is close to everything: gorgeous beaches, shopping, restaurants and activities such as snorkeling, horseback riding, hiking, surfing. A short drive brings you to the Road to Hana, the Haleakala Volcano and the breathtaking Iao Valley. This was one of my favorite vacations of all time!

We felt at home as soon as we walked in..actually didn't want to leave it..The VIEW..breathtaking..no need to go out to dinner..we had canclelight dinners on the lanai everynight and enjoyed ourselves immensely. Thank you for making your place available to us and also for making the arrangements so easy.

What can you add to what has been stated by guest after guest? It’s all true. We immediately felt comfortable and right at home minutes after walking in the door at Kahana Reef. Unit 411, the entire facility and grounds are kept in immaculate condition and the ever changing view from the lanai remains spectacular regardless of the conditions. We got it all, beautiful sunsets, kite surfers, turtles, whales and even an excellent tropical rain storm! That was all done at the condo and says nothing of all the fun we had exploring the rest of Maui!We want to personally thank Jerry and Judy for their hospitality and assistance. Things in paradise do not always go as smoothly as we would like and although Jerry downplays it, his assistance went above and beyond the call. Far beyond being owners renting a vacation condo, their caring, concern and assistance told us they truly want people to have an excellent experience, and we did! You will too!
Owner response:Following your experience, Kelly, we now tell our guests to be very careful with their rental car key. As you well know now, it can be a rather costly mistake -- $200 for a new key! Even with that experience, you enjoyed so much of what Maui offers. We hope to see you again soon! Mahalo, Jerry & Judy

October 20 through November 3, 2009J&J – What is there left to say? “ Million Dollar view; “Peace & Quiet” and “Great Friends” Each time we’ve come back to Apartment 411, it is more mellow than the last time. We are going to be very busy when we get back but we are fully recharged! Kimo’s was great for dinner and much less than Kapalua Grill, Plantation, Longhi’s or Roy’s – Longhi’s is good for breakfast with a great frittata but $$$. Just shop at Costco, Foodland and/or Fish Market on Lower Honoapiilani Rd and eat in!! Ellen and Jim Westerheid - McKinney Texas

September 2 through September 13, 2009Another great stay here in #411. We love this place! Kahana is so laid back & quiet, far removed from the hustle & bustle of the resort areas. So here is the skinny on all of the best that Maui offers: (1) Want to see turtles? -- You don’t have to pay, just go up the road a way to Honokeana Cove and you will dozens of turtles! (2) Want to hike in a rain forest? -- Drive to the other side of the island to the Waihee Valley. Take the 30 to the 33 to the 34 road - Waihee Valley Road on the left; follow the road to the entrance to the valley – It is $6 per person to park. Get ready for a fabulous hike through a tropical paradise. (3) Want to snorkel the best reef on Maui? -- Go to Kahakili Beach Park, aka as Old Airport Beach, turn right and follow the short drive to the beach parking lot. This is the BEST snorkel spot on all of Maui! (4) Want to have a great dinner for very little $$? -- Check out Aloha Mixed Plate across the road from the Cannery Mall. (5)Want to have a great hula show? -- Head on down to the Cannery Mall on Tuesday or Thursday for a great FREE Hula Show.(6) Want to dive your brains out? -- Check out Lahaina Divers – they are the best dive operator on the Island – Great crew, nice big dive boats – great divers!(7) Want to always have a great time in Maui? Just come back to Kahana Reef Unit 411!We hope these tips help make your stay fun and exciting. Thanks Jerry & Judy once again, for a great stay – we will be back!+++++++++

August 3 through August 10, 2009This is one of those few moments in life that WORDS can’t even BEGIN to express the gratitude in our hearts! Somehow I will try to do it though. This is THE most BEAUTIFUL, RELAXING, EXOTIC, EXQUISTE, GENEROUS, OUTRAGEOUSLY wonderful VACATION that Jacob and I have EVER! Jacob is the BUSIEST person I know at home. This condo has blessed us with the PEACE, REST & RESTORATION! It has allowed us to stop & reflect & reprioritize our lives, family and marriage. This whole condo is full… of goodies & everything you would DREAM of a condo to have. We love to cook and every little gadget was in there, much to our surprise! We LOVED all the places & suggestions. Mostly we have loved letting our 10-month old son get to know his Great Grandma & Grandpa. This vacation will FOREVER be etched on our hearts and our son’s as he grows old & reflects upon the pictures. THANK YOU for your incredible generosity!

Our stay at Jerry's condo was perfect. We had a terrifically relaxing time. Maui grows on you. When we left Seattle, we thought it would be a pleasant one-time visit to see Hawaii. Now we're talking about when we'll return. The land and the constantly changing weather are like nothing we've experienced. The people are universally courteous--we didn't encounter one person with an attitude, which struck us as amazing.

We spent two wonderful weeks on Maui from April 15-April 29, 2009 at Kahana Reef ocean front condo #411 with its splendid unobstructed view of the ocean, Molokai and Lanai in the distance. We were treated to ever changing vistas including whales cavorting, windsurfers, and kite surfers, fishing boats, and occasional cruise ships passing by. From the veranda in the morning we enjoyed fresh pineapple and papaya in the cool breeze, evenings spectacular sunsets, and beautiful moonlit nights. Accommodations were clean, comfortable, and well equipped for cooking and serving. There were gas grills and convenient laundry facilities. The inviting pool area and immaculate grounds were beautiful with tropical flowers and plants. Location was handy to restaurants, stores, and the farmers market. We enjoyed long walks with a variety of views and vistas. The owners and neighbors were friendly and helpful which contributed greatly to our serene and uplifting experience. We can hardly wait to return!

Memorable Remarkable Unforgettable How can we better describe our experience than what has already been written by previuos guests. My wife, and our 18 month old daughter had one of the most wonderful experinces of our lives staying at Kahana Reef. We had never been to Maui and never imagined just how beautiful and uncrowded it truly is. The location is fantastic, quiet, yet close to restaurants and stores. We especially liked Old Lahaina Town. The accommodations are well maintained, very comfortable, clean, and well equipped with everthing you could ask for, top of the line gas BBQ grills, clean swimming pool, laundry facilities, etc. The little touches like books, beach towels, are a true reflection on the owners. The oceanfront view is spectacular, truly breath taking. We sat on the patio every morning and evening looking at the ocean and the islands of Molokai and Lanai. with a constant cool breeze flowing through the condo. It is located in a quiet area, yet is close to restaurants and stores. The neighbors are friendly and the property is well kept from the owners to the wonderful management/grounds staff. The owners, Judy and Jerry, make you feel at home, and they are kind, honest and sincere. Maui is now one of our favorite vacation spots and Kahana is the very best part of the island. A fabulous spot, and we will also be back. When we return, we plan to stay in this unit again. We too felt like guests in a friend's home. Truly first class! Thank you Judy and Jerry for making our stay memorable. Aloha and Mahalo!

March 29 through March 23, 2009 This is our 22nd trip to Maui and the Kahana Reef #411 rates at the top of our list of beautiful, comfortable accommodations and spectacular ocean views. Our 14 days here included sun & sunsets; rain & rainbows; wind & waves; whales, turtles & red-headed birds; bronchitis & a doctor appointment; papayas & apakopako; and barefoot beach walks. This was a welcomed change from the snow & cold of our home in the California Sierras. Hope to be back here again. Mahalo for making us feel so welcome!

We spent two of the best weeks of our lives in this unit from Nov.8 - Nov. 22, 2008. The pictures of the condo are very accurate. The condo is well appointed and very comfortable, especially the king size bed. Every minute of the day we would be looking at the ocean or the islands of Molokai and Lanai. There is constant breeze flowing through the condo from the front to the back (mountains). It is located in a quiet area, yet is close to restaurants and stores. The owners, Judy and Jerry, make you feel at home. A beautiful home away from home!!! Better than luxury hotels at a reasonable price.

We have been vacationing in Maui since our honeymoon, 25 years ago, and have stayed in many different condos from Wailea and Kaanapali to Napili. Jerry & Judy's is by far our favorite; it's quiet, well maintained, nicely decorated & furnished and has gorgeous views. The bed in the master bedroom is so-o-o comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked and had everything we needed to feel right at home. We just returned after a ten day vacation and can't say enough about this unit and the Kahana Reef complex as a whole. Bob and Rose, the neighbors, are a delight, very warm and welcoming. Over all we rate this condo a "10" and will definitely be staying there again. Thank you Jerry & Judy for helpng to make our 25th anniversary trip so very special. Maholo and Aloha!

After spending three weeks in Honolulu on Waikiki Beach, we arrived in your well-appointed condo in Maui. What a relief from the 24-hour noise of the big city! We enjoyed the peacefulness of Kahana, the warmth and comfort of your condo, its special touches (ceramic tiles, candles, flowers, ceiling fans, etc. and especially the proximity to the ocean – only 30’ from the lanai. Your kitchen is well-appointed/equipped and has a dishwasher. The condo is close to stores, restaurants and super golf courses. The pool is warm and clean and the grounds are well-groomed.It was, indeed, a pleasure to meet you and Judy and to experience your sincerity and honesty. Your condo was certainly a “home away from home” which we will remember always.Ungrand merci de votre ge’ne’rosite.

We were so comfy. Nice to meet you, Jerry. We would really like to come back. Even though it’s April, we saw whales from the lanai. Your recommendation of the Plantation Restaurant for a special breakfast … superb. Went on to Fleming Beach – lovely. Saw turtles while snorkeling! If Geoff looked any more RELAXED – he’d be comatose! Thank you! You’ve done a super job in making this a very nice, clean, comfy vacation home. Yes, we’ll pass the word on… All the best to you –

December 22 through December 29, 2007What can we say? Christmas in Maui will be our one of the most memorable in our lives! It was even more wonderful due to the awesome hospitality your unit provided us with. The accommodations are fabulous and all the little touches found everywhere are a great addition… the books, guides, instructions, everything! Truly, it was like coming home – everything we needed was there. And the view!!! You could not ask for more. Our only sadness is only spending one week and not getting the opportunity to meet you face-to-face. Thank you – We will be back and will recommend you to all our friends & family. HaroldChristmas without snow was awesome – even with the rain! So much different from the weather the folks back in Wisconsin were experiencing while we were here! Next time, could you ask the whales to come a little closer?! We were very lucky to be able to see the whales right from the balcony and Harold was such a good spotter! Thanks so much for sharing a little piece of paradise with us – we look forward to our return!

My boyfriend and I arranged a last minute trip to Maui in July of 2007. The opportunity to stay at Jerry & Judy's beautiful condo made the trip a very serene and memorable vacation. The condo is appointed like a nice hotel. I have traveled the world and stayed in 4-star hotels and can sincerely say the combination of the view, the quiet location, the clean grounds, and the neatly organized high quality condition of the condo was a treat. When I return to Maui I will plan to stay in this unit again. I felt like a guest in a friend's home. I can't imagine this is typical for vacation rentals. It was a treat to stay in this unit. The location is nicely removed from the chaos of the big hotels and Lahaina. Having Honalua Bay and all of the great swimming and snorkeling beaches within 5 minutes in either direction made the location the perfect spot if you are seeking a slice of quiet paradise. Take good care of this condo. The owners are clearly offering it as a rental that does not feel like a rental.

Thanks so much for helping to make our stay in Maui so comfortable. Your condo is lovely and we really appreciated all the “comforts of home”. We had another wonderful Hawaiian vacation and can’t wait to return.

My wife, Ingrid, and I spent a week at Kahana Reef in mid July, 2007 to celebrate our first anniversary. This was our second stay at Kahana Reef #411. We have been all around the island and this particular location has the best view we have seen anywhere on Maui. The waves gently splashing on Kahana Reef combined with the the view of Molokai from the lanai create a setting that is truly a paradise. Ingrid and I spent some time relaxing at the condo but also took advantage of some of the local activities. Honolua Bay is just a few miles north and offers great snorkeling. Kaanapali Beach is just a few miles south and is one of the best beaches on Maui. Black Rock, a good diving location, is also located at Kaanapali. We did some scuba diving with arrangements made through the Maui Dive Shop located in the shopping center at Kahana. The MDS staff was friendly and professional. Lahaina is a short drive south and offers great shopping, dining, clubs and shows. Our only complaint about our stay at Kahana Reef was that our stay was too short! We love it there and are already planning our next trip. Aloha. Kevin & Ingrid Livermore, California

Thank you for providing this beautiful place for our vacation. It was great waking up to this “million dollar view” every day. The tips you gave us were really helpful. Everything about Maui was phenomenal. We had a great time at the beaches and went crazy with the pineapple. Our stay was great and we wish to come back again. We’ll recommend your unit to all our family and friends back home.

We very much enjoyed each of of our three magical 3-week vacations in condo #411. Many nights we moved to the living room sofa bed, with lanai doors open, to fully enjoy the sounds of crashing waves below the condo. Wonderful! The views! #411 has a truly spectacular top-floor 180-degree view of ocean, sunsets, and other Hawaiian Islands. We frequently enjoyed watching kite-boarders and heavy Hawaiian canoes nearby. We also appreciated the many excellent music channels on TV, the lack of air conditioner noise, and the delightful ceiling fans. The trade winds blew nearly continuously through our locked front screen door. The Kahana commercial area, just a brief walk away, has a mix of excellent stores (e.g. Whaler's General Store) and fine restaurants. We often ate at our favorite Chinese restaurant just across the street from the condo. Their custom General Tso's fish is uniquely delicious. We also enjoyed daily hikes around the lovely Kahana area. The helicopter tour of Maui and Molokai was awesome, particularly the magnificent eastern part of the north coast of Molokai. The Maui Ocean Center and Aquarium was superb, and drew us back three times. TV travel programs rate it as the best tropical aquarium on earth. The transparent tunnel under the stingrays was awesome. Later while snorkeling in the ocean, we even saw the same type of prehistoric fish we had seen in the aquarium. (Color photos and descriptions of some 340 spectacular species of Hawaiian fish are illustrated in the excellent paperback book, "Shore Sishes of Hawaii", by John Randall, available at the aquarium.) Condo #411 was always in first-class, immaculately clean condition. Hawaiian Airlines was always particularly pleasant compared to other airlines.

Okay....where to start??? We have nothing to say but a whole lot of possitives about this unit, area and owners. 1st off, the unit was very clean and had whatever was needed to go about your vacation in Maui. Great BBQ's for all to enjoy, and have a great meal either down by the water or from the great lanai. Which is where I can say that we spent 50% of our time just relaxing, reading or watching the whales, sunsets, rainbows, turtles and amazing watercraft that would pass by! The area is close to everything that you would need as far as shopping, excercise or just plain fun. We drove and walked to any # of places nearby to snorkle or hike etc. So close to Napili, and Kaanapali and not that far from Lahaina either. About the owners...well they were just about as helpful as one can be and very knowledgable about the area and units, and great things to go do and see. So we will definately come back to this place for not only a great place to stay, but also at a great value! Thanks again Judy and Jerry for making this such a wonderful trip for my husband and I!

We have stayed at Kahana Reef over 20 times in the last 27 years. We once owned a unit for 20 years. This particular unit is on the 4th floor and has an unobstructed and marvelous view of both Lana'i and Moloka'i. Kahana Reef is on the Lower Honoapiillani HWY and it's quiet. No big hotel hustle and bustle. We have seen whales and turtles and watched the wind and kite surfers. This unit is clean and neat and has several owner installed changes that make it nice. The grounds are well kept. It's close to Kaanapali and Kapalua. The beach at Napili Bay is one of the top 10 in the world and offers great snorkeling and swimming.

We highly recommend Jerry and Judy's condo at Kahana Reef. It is wonderfully situated, close to the resorts at Kaanapali and just 15 minutes from Lahaina, but without the crowds and noisy bustle. The views are breath taking. Every morning we watched whales breach, pods of dolphins and sea turtles right fom our Lanai. Several mornings a bright rainbow appeared right over the water, closer than I've ever seen. The condo itself is cheerful and bright and, importantly: very clean. The care takers were very reponsive to our needs. Also Jerry and Judy were a delight to deal with, honest and very helpful. We're planing to make this our home in Maui when we return in the future. Feel free to contact me, Thomas, with questions or for more information.
