Each Thanksgiving, we like to rent a house where we can meet up with family from other parts of the country. This year, we chose the Cape, and this great house on the marsh. Going to the Cape in the off-season obviously has its pluses and minuses—many shops and restaurants are closed, but it's quiet, and you feel like you have the place to yourself. We went for walks on the beach, ate sandwiches and drank Cape Cod beer from Sam's, and got the best lobsters and lobster bisque from Mac's Seafood. The house itself isn't fancy—the appliances and fixtures are a little dated, and we had one glitch where Comcast accidentally turned off the Internet for the off-season. That said, it was well-maintained, and we were warm, comfortable, and able to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal for 5 with the gorgeous Cape Cod sunset at our backs.Did you find this review helpful? My husband and I rented this house in July of '08 with our two young children. It was more space then we needed for our family of four! The views of sunsets and the bay were amazing!!!! We all enjoyed watching the birds and exploring fiddler crabs in the marsh infront of the house! The week we were there it was very humid but we didn't feel a bit of the humidity because of the wonderful ocean breeze! The kitchen and bathrooms could use a few updates but overall we loved the time we spent there and hope to be back! The food from the Friendly Fisherman was specatular and had the most fun at Nauset Lighthouse Beach where my husband caught a 8lb bluefish right off the beach!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
