WELCOME TO KWJEWELS GUIDE TO KEY WEST
"LIFE IN THE SLOW LANE" Key West is the southernmost island in a series of coral islands known as the Florida Keys. It is the southernmost city in the continental United States. Visitors immediately enjoy the Caribbean feel of this island nation called the Conch Republic. With an average annual temperature of 77 degrees Fahrenheit, this balmy island can afford to boast "free snow removal". It is just a 35-minute flight from Miami, or a dramatic drive along the Florida Keys Overseas Highway.
People who come to Key West are coming to enjoy the unique flavor Key West has to offer. There is always something to do. Like the other islands, Key West offers great fishing and diving. Enjoy the sunny days and wild tropical nights in paradise. Duval Street is a favorite of visitors. Call or E-mail for more details.
Harry Truman could have spent his time away from Washington any place he wanted. He chose Key West. Relaxing in his "winter White House", he once wrote, "I’ve a notion to move the capital to Key West and just stay." So many presidential days were enjoyed here that the Officer’s quarters became the "Little White House" and the Naval Station it occupied was renamed the Truman Annex.
Bordered by Old Town’s lively streets with fine shopping and gourmet restaurants and on the other by spectacular seaside sunsets, the breeze-blessed Annex is the city’s premier waterfront property. It was accessible only to visiting Presidents and the U.S. Navy for more than 165 years. Today, visitors to the Annex enjoy the lush, very private setting of its 45 beautifully landscaped acres. It contains many old Navy buildings with historic and architectural significance, which were renovated into stunning residences. New condominiums and townhouses in a wide range of sizes and styles were built to complement the historic buildings.
SHIPYARD CONDOMINIUMS The Shipyard is the most popular development within the Truman Annex. It is a community of small pastel 'Conch-style' condominiums. Each is uniquely and attractively furnished. They are surrounded by lush foliage. This upstairs unit has a front and back balcony with a slight waterview of the Gulf on the back balcony. Located just a short walk from the beach at Fort Zachary Taylor State Park and attractively priced, this unit is an ideal vacation choice. Property is within walking distance of all town amenities.
