Mount Shasta Country Home offers a gorgeous setting with wonderful views of the mountains on a half-acre. It is set on a country lane that offers refuge from a busy world, but is not isolated. It is located only about a mile from downtown amenities, including wonderful restaurants, galleries and shops.
In the Winter and Spring, enjoy cross country skiing on the Mt. Shasta or visit the world class Ski Park about 20 minutes away for downhill, cross country or boarding. Snow Man's Hill, on the way to the wonderful old mill town of McCloud, offers informal sledding. Ice skating is also available in downtown Mt. Shasta; or you might try ice fishing at Castle lake!
In Fall, hike out your front door to the National Forest. Or, drive up the face of Mt. Shasta to visit Panther Meadows for an easy hike through paradise, or challenge the mountain, climbing to top! Enjoy bird watching at Lake Shastina and spy on wild ducks and geese as they make their way down the Pacific Flyway. Or, take a hike from the house out Raspberry Lane to the National Forest(less than a mile away)--do not be surprised to see bunnies, quail and fox!
In Spring, enjoy the blooming flowers. In Summer, enjoy lazy afternoons swinging in the hammock munching on berries in the large private backyard, or lay back on the lawn or enjoying a variety of flowers including some iris that still may be in bloom. (We also maintain Mt Shasta Iris Gardens in May and June-view the more than 300 types of tall bearded iris!) Also, do not be surprised if your dozing is interrupted by the buzz of a hummingbird, or the songs of several kinds of feathered friends!
You might decide to drive up Mt. Shasta and visit Panther Meadows in July to see an awesome display of wild flowers! While there, find a private spot to meditate--Many people describe having experienced a spiritual awakening here on what has been described as one of the world's true vortexes. World-class fishing for trout and bass may be found nearby in the many lakes and streams, including the headwaters of the Sacramento River, Castle, Siskiyou and Gumboot Lakes. Burney Falls and McCloud Falls offer spectacular day trip opportunities.
After a day enjoying the out of doors, return home to enjoy a family barbecue on summer days, and turn on the mister in the covered patio to keep cool.
Inside, the 1400 square foot home (three bedrooms with a king and two queen beds, one bath) is very comfortable with an open floor plan, comfy furnishings and nicely decorated with wildlife pictures, and sweetly appointed bedrooms. Forced air heat and a wood stove keep you cozy in the winter, and two portable air conditioners, plus fans in every room keep you cool in the summer. Enjoy the purest water on earth, right from the kitchen tap!
We would love to share our home with you!

What a perfect place to stay. Very cozy and comfortable little home with just the right everything. Kitchen was fantastic, big and open, all of the kitchen items you could possibly need, and more! Great windows to a very cute back yard that the dogs could run around in. Wood stove heated the place wonderfully and the large bathtub had plenty of hot water for a good soak with your book. Very comfy living room. Nice and close to downtown, and on the road to Bunny Flats, but you can still walk your dog and have the kids ride bikes on the road out front. We were instantly comfortable and will come back again. The house, appliances, and utensils were very clean and everything was prepped and ready to go, even the woodstove. Check out was a breeze and cleanup expectations were not onerous. Thanks Don!

We stayed here in March, and we lucked out and had a huge snowstorm! House had everything we needed and it was gorgeous. We had a great time in the snow and loved the wood stove and the cozy living room. Kitchen had everything and we cooked a lot! Looking forward to going back! Highly recommend visiting this beautiful spot!

Peaceful, beautiful, comfortable, private, clean home nestled at the edge of town and the base of Mt. Shasta. The owners are gardeners and the back yard offers a lovely lawn area which overlooks a bed of roses, iris, fruit trees, blooming annuals and even vegetables and berries for your table in the summer. We find it the perfect spot to read and relax in between biking, hiking and all the other treasures the area has to offer. It's always hard to leave and we can't wait to go back!
