Though my Mother and I stayed in the Farmhouse... a review I am about to write as well, we were able to enter the Hummingbird Cottage, by permission of one of the owners to see for future rentals. This is the sweetest cottage, with bathroom, kitchen and studio bedroom/living room. It has everything you would need and is enchanting at the very least. Adorned in antique interiors, befitting to the cottage itself, with collectible quilts and brass bed, it's a must. What my Mother thought immediately, was a family retreat or business retreat.... it is across a brick patio walk from the Farmhouse and is the perfect addition for overflow if needed when renting the farm house as well. Its just charming as the dickens.... can't imagine anyone not enjoying the cottage and the lovely landscaped yard off the deck.
Owner response:Thank you for your view point of this cottage. Charming is the one word that describes it. The Farmhouse will sleep seven total and with this cottage on the same property you can add two more for a total of nine. Great for family reunions.

My wife and I stayed at this property in early September for 2 days and enjoyed it very much. It looks exactly like the photos provided, is very well maintained with a beautiful little garden of flowers, trees, bushes, grass, and fountain. There is a wonderful restaurant, the 42nd St Cafe, across the street with some of the most wonderfully prepared food I have ever tasted - some may consider a little pricey but well worth the splurge for anyone of the 3 meals it serves. For those who like well-proportioned breakfasts at reasonable prices try Laurie's Homestead on the same side of the street as the Hummingbird Cottage a few doors north. For places to visit there are, of course several "antique" shops within walking distance and of course all the busy shops and famous Kite Museum in Long Beach, one to 1.5 miles north of the cottage. We focused more on nature, history, and art by visiting both days the beautiful park at Cape Dissappointment where there are two lighthouses (the North one is the better of the two), a wonderfully informative Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, beautiful views of the mouth of the Columbia River, several beach and waterfront areas, and several sections of Maya Lin's Confluence Project (Maya Lin is the artist who also designed the famous Vietnam Veteran's Memorial in Washington DC) that incorporate practical elements like a crab-cleaning station with carved quotes from Lewis and Clark's journals and from Native American statements and chants. I highly recommend the cottage, we met one of the owners before we left Seattle, he is a marvelous person who is very conscientous in providing an excellent place to stay at a very reasonable price.

I recently stayed at Hummingbird for the third time, and every experience has been enjoyable. Terry, the owner, is friendly and helpful and very easy to deal with. The cottage is quite small, but has a full bathroom and kitchen and is well-maintained and clean (and quite cute!). It is within easy walking distance of two great restaurants (the 42nd Cafe and the Depot), a full-size grocery store with two red boxes, and is only a few blocks from the Seaview beach approach. The rates are reasonable, especially during the off-season if you enjoy the beach during the stormier seasons (as I do). I have stayed at a couple of other similiarly priced accomodations in or near town and the Hummingbird is far superior. I would highly recommend the Hummingbird to any couple or single person planning a trip to Long Beach, WA.
Owner response:Thank you for the review and I appreciate repeat guests who come back to Hummingbird Cottage time and time again. It is very conveniently located and very quiet. The Farmhouse Cottage is in front for those who like more space. Welcome home.

The photos are a nice depiction, however, you have to see & feel the charm this property has to offer. Very nicely appointed, clean & well maintained inside & out. From the very fist contact I had with the owner & all through the reservation process, the owner was helpful & very cordial. I will stay there, again, & I have already recommended the cottage to friends & family. We had a fabulous dinner @ The Depot, Brunch @ 42nd St Cafe & took a trip to Oysterville & enjoyed a bottle of wine on the deck with lovely view of the mainland, not to mention Baked Alaska in Astoria, & the Farmers Market in Ilwaco & Astoria. Each day we enjoyed coming back to our home away from home: The Hummingbird Cottage. Thank you!
Owner response:Thank you Barbara for a lovely review. It is greatly appreciated. We also love the charm of the Hummingbird as well as the full house in front, called The Farmhouse Cottage. Both cottages are enjoyed by all who have stayed and we have many repeat guests. I look forward to helping you and your referrals anytime that it is called upon. Terry
