This is a quiet and restful year round home located on the mouth of a cove on one of five lakes in the Poland/Poland Spring area. This is a beautiful home with sky lights, hardwood, tile, and carpeted floors, granite counter tops, a spiral staircase, and lovely appointments. Two living rooms (one with TV and one without)and the dining room open directly onto a 40' deck that overlooks the lake and are great places for adults to read, sun, rest, nap, or socialize. A daylight basement game room is a great place for the kids to get away to play board games and cards and opens directly to the lawn on the lake side of the home.
A large lawn on the lake side is a great place for family gatherings and barbeques. Take a morning swim, a late night dip, or an afternoon swim to cool down. Pull up a lawn chair, or lounge in the hammock with a good book. This is a no-jet ski lake, so the lake is quieter than many.
Go to sleep at night and awake in the morning to the call of the common loon. Watch their chicks grow as mom and dad loons dive for fish to feed their little ones. Enjoy kayaking (we provide two) but please give the loons room and respect their rights to the lake - this is THEIR home after all!
Poland Springs is less than 30 miles from Portland and the international airport. We are 45 minutes from LL Bean in Freeport which is a tourist attraction along with the town of Freeport which is an outlet town. The largest globe in the world, Eartha, is in Yarmouth, 5 miles south of Freeport, and can be seen at Delorme. The desert of Maine is a great family outing. You are as close as 45 minutes to light houses, the ocean, beaches, and skiing at Sunday River. This is not just a good summer vacation spot but a great home base for leaf peaking, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, downhill and cross country skiing.
This house was our primary home for six years until jobs took us south. But we will return there to live again, so please treat it kindly. We trust you will. |
