Hold-On-Beach! is on the lightly developed "East End" with a broad beach for walking, swimming, or sunbathing. Plenty of dry sand at high- and low-tides. You won't need to get up early to "stake-out" a beach or fishing spot in this area. Holden Beach is a top-ranked beach by USA Today, National Geographic Smart Travel Magazine, and has received National Healthy Beach status by NHBC which rates beaches based on environmental qualities and services. We also have another VRBO rental (185186), a brand new house w/ HEATED pool, 1.5 blocks away.
The inverted floorplan has top floor with one master bedroom suite, kitchen with Corian and full features, and living area all overlooking large porch and beach/ocean. Elevator helps with bringing in loads of fresh local seafood and beverages to the kitchen.
Three of the four bedrooms are oceanfront with great ocean views and breezes. Shining hardwood floors add extra quality to this house. Dual zone heat/air allows different settings on each floor. Main TV is 50 inch model w/ digital HiDef cable. Gas fireplace for the few cool nights. Enclosed outside shower w/ dressing area and hot/cold water. Andersen French doors to two of the oceanfront bedrooms. Rentals are Sunday-to-Sunday. Off-season discount available to couples, multi-weeks, monthly, snow-birds, etc. Also some long weekend, short-week rentals in off-season.

This house is wonderfully maintained and provided a relaxing place right on the beach. The house had HDTV with a flat screen, wireless internet access, and awesome views of the sunrise and sunset. We loved it here and would recommend it to anyone.

The south-facing beach (and house full of oceanfront windows) really do allow the sun to bask in off the ocean from sunrise-to-sunset from October to early April. My husband and I stayed at Hold-On-Beach for a week in Sept. The house, the view, the weather, everything was perfect. The house was one of the cleanest houses and nicest we had ever seen. The location was perfect. You could see the sun rise and the sun set. We watched the hundreds of dolphins (yes I mean hundreds)right from the upper deck. We watched and heard the ocean every moment of the day. The house was fully equiped with every thing you could possibly need. The owner was great to work with and couldn't have been more accommodating. Yes we will be back.

Just a wonderful home in an incredible setting. If you're looking for a place where three couples can simply chill out and enjoy the beach, this is it. The place even has an elevator in case you have someone who has trouble with stairs or, if you are like us, too lazy to carry luggage two flights. The place is decorated in a light and airy way - perfect for the beach. The beach area where the house is located is simply spectacular. It is quite private at this end of Holden Beach and just plain wonderful. We couldn't recommend the place more.

Four generations, aged 7 to 93, had a wonderful time at Hold-On Beach. The elevator made it possible for the 93 yr old matriarch to easily come and go, even though she is confined to a wheelchair. The house was well furnished and eqiupped. With a few portable accessories for handicapped travelers she was able to enjoy the home and to watch from the balcony as her children through great-grandchildren walked on the beach and played in the surf. The views were magnificent. We are planning to return to Hold-On Beach; it is definitely our best beach rental yet for our family's Mother Day get together.
Homeowner Response: Regarding accessibility... we have incorporated some improvements for wheelchair/walker access into Pelican Watch, the new house. Wider doors, grab-bars, level decking from pool to elevator, etc.

Why the Owner Chose Holden Beach
My wife and I fell in love with the quiet, lightly developed "East End" of Holden Beach in 2003 and bought a classic beach cottage with long-time friends. Hold-on-Beach was bought as a more modern, income producer, to later become a retirement home. We like the people and this section of Holden Beach so much, in 2008 we built Pelican Watch (private pool which was designed based on the best features of Hold-On-Beach, and a few minor changes to better suit our retirement years. The private pool at Pelican Watch has made it even more popular (to some) than Hold-on-Beach! Both are beautiful homes with elevators and quality touches throughout. I grew up with a family beach-house at Edisto Beach, SC and find Holden Beach has many of the same qualities... quiet, lightly developed, broad beaches and great fresh local seafood.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The inverted floorplan with elevator serving the top floor affords privacy between the top floor master suite and the other oceanfront suite/bedrooms on the lower level. Yet, all have great oceanfront views. Nice arrangement for multi-generation families, especially if one person or couple really need the convenience of an elevator. We love the peaceful walks to the Lockwood Folly Inlet in the morning with a mug of coffee.
Casual and affordable dining & drinking, set out over the water. Great grilled grouper. Owners' top choice.
Food Lion (groc), Walgreens RX, Movie rentals, Subway, Chinese, Ice Cream, etc.
Great value, nice fried shrimp, scallops, oysters. The place is an old house trailer w/ screened porch. Take-out suggested, call ahead 20 minutes. 910-842-6420

I'm a beach lover with roots deep in the sand of the Carolina Coast. Grew up in South Carolina with a family beach cottage at Edisto Beach, now own and enjoy beach houses in North Carolina and live in the Virginia Piedmont. The Carolinas supply all the best barbecue and shrimp I can enjoy!

My family & I spent a week here last week and LOVED it! The views are the BEST! From the front we could see dolphins and from the back windows we watched a herd of deer including the Buck. It was Paradise. The house is very nice & comfortable. Irv is a great property owner & will work to ensure you have a good stay. We hope to return to this house next year or maybe Irv's other property that has the pool, but honestly the house was so great & the beach was so awesome that we did not miss having a pool. Thanks Irv!

I had not taken a vacation in more than 4 years. My wife insisted that I finally take one. I browsed the listings and found this property. The owner was very easy to deal with and extremely prompt in all his responses. We were able to secure the rental within hours. The property is lovely and very well maintained. The view from the upstairs living room is gorgeous! If you are looking for a quiet get away with proximity to all of the tourist areas (Myrtle Beach and Wilmington), this is the place for you! This beautiful home is located on quiet Holden Beach with the Atlantic visible from the front and the Intracoastal waterway visible from the back. View of sunrises AND sunsets with a southern exposure to the ocean! Great views from all rooms, immaculately clean, well-stocked kitchen essentials, easy-to-contact owners. One of them shares the bath with a fourth bedroom that has two twins beds. All of the mattresses are comfortable. The place even has an elevator in case you have someone who has trouble with stairs or, if you are like us, too lazy to carry luggage two flights. The place is decorated in a light and airy way - perfect for the beach. The beach area where the house is located is simply spectacular. It is quite private at this end of Holden Beach and just plain wonderful. We couldn't recommend the place more.

Our family enjoyed our week setting on Holden Beach. The beach was excellent, quiet and without the hassel of a large number of people. The house had all of the necessary amenitites.

The easy beach access was wonderful for taking the children out to burn off a little energy several times a day--and the views were magnificent. We are planning to return to Hold-On Beach; it is definitely our best beach rental yet for our family's Mother Day get together.
