We had the absolute time of our lives staying at the Makapuu Hale house during our Christmas holidays. The property boasts of majestic, breathtaking views and its own private beach just seconds from the doorstep. My 6 year old son and 2 year old son thoroughly enjoyed all that the home had to offer; the beach, tree fort, swings and warm ocean, to the very handy outdoor shower and hottubb.My 2 year old's favourite song right now is " The Coconut Tree" and how surprised was he to see all the lovely coconut ( and banana!) trees that surround the property. Inside, the rooms are spacious and the feel is very Hawaiian:) Beautfiul hardwood floors, lovely furniture, new appliaces... the list goes on and on. Mike and Jeanne, the owners, were so friendly and personable. We appreciated all their help and their amazingly funny jokes!!! We definitely felt as tough they were welcoming us with open hearts. As I sit here on this cold January nght in my own lovely city of Vancouver, BC, I can't help but wish we were back in Hawaii, enjoying a margherita on the deck and hearing the waves crash. We will definitely be coming back to this one of a kind, exquisite home.

I'm back on the Mainland now for a couple of weeks and I still can't get the gorgeous view from Makapu'u Hale out of my mind. This house and property are superb in every way. The photos are not enhanced. The view is really that beautiful! Everything you need is right at your fingertips and for those of us who love Oahu's windward coast, the location is perfect. On top of everything else, the owners are incredibly kind, generous and warm people who personify the Aloha spirit! Thank you for a wonderful week in paradise....Maureen and Freddy

Absolutely Stunning

We stayed in Makapu'u Hale for a week in May 2011. The place is absolutely stunning. I would seriously buy this place if we could afford it. Amazing views, beautiful grounds, great beach for snorkeling, and turtles every afternoon. The property is well kept up and spacious with a large kitchen and a living room looking out to the sea. The property has two bathroom and the master is large and airy with a double headed shower.

Peaceful Beach Retreat

My family and I enjoyed the wonderful cottage on the beach. The hot tub was wonderful, beach was beautiful and it exceeded all out expectations. We will stay again when in Hawaii.

I have stayed in this property on four different occations when visiting Oahu and will again. It feels like my own private island home. My young daughter loves it and talks about going back regularly. Clean and so comfortable down to the quality linens. Getting up in the morning and drinking coffee in the yard in my pajamas is the best. Don't miss out on this great home. Its a real value.

My family stayed in this beautiful beach cottage for a week and loved it. I have an 18 month old and a 4 year old, and the house and surroundings were perfect for this. The description and photos accruately reflect this house. There is a fenced in yard allowing the kids to run around but not go out of sight. The hammock was a hit with the kids, and adults. The view from the house is spectacular! We watched crabs on the beach in the morning and sea turtles swimming in the afternoon. We ate outside on the large, covered lanai for every meal. It was just so peaceful and beautiful! This house was absolutely perfect for our family vacation. We wouldn't have wanted to stay anywhere else.

stayed there in April 2010 we were with son and family. Katie very helpful in finding a place to horse back ride for grand daughter's birthday. Beautiful place was just the most wonderful vacation we ever had. house is outstanding - photos didn't do it justice. the kitchen was beautiful - beds were comfortable- hot tub was great and the deck -- I can;t say enough about the deck we spent most of our time out there. Sea life park is close --horsebacking riding almost across the street--grocery store close. there is just too much to list

My husband and I got married on Oahu and stayed here on our honeymoon for ten days. It was everything we expected and more. The water was calm and there were sea turtles to see everyday. The house was clean and well maintained. The hot tub was clean and ready for use. They had everything available, all we needed was ourselves and food and we were set! It's outside the bustle of honolulu and is much more peaceful but a short drive from restaurants and stores. Perfect for anyone looking for a peaceful vacation.Thank you so much for the wonderful experience of this house and we hope to stay here again in the future and will recommend it to anyone venturing to the islands! We've thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks in this spectacular beachfront home. Things we enjoyed were the hammock, jacuzzi, outdoor shower. Such a comfortable home fully equipped and supplied home. Snorkelling!! We walked down to the small public beach park about 10 minutes from the house and found lots of fish, turtles & coral. This was an extra special splurge of a trip for us and we can only hope all visitors who follow us will have as wonderful and restful a vacation as we have. Someday I sure hope we can return!!

This vacation home is really perfect for people which like to stay directly at the beach and want to have a morning or evening appointment with the green sea turtles. It's a very good equipped gorgeous house with a nice garden and a great deck. We loved our stay there and would certainly rent it again if we return to Oahu in the future.

we stayed there last oct. and we truley enjoyed every moment , the most beautiful veiw for 10 days did'nt want to leave.Looking forward to returning soon... would highly recomend to anyone, who wants private beaches, and tranquile sunsets and heavenly sunrises.prperty very clean and just like shown in pictures, close to shopping and site seeing.

We (party of 3) returned home to Canada a week ago after having had the pleasure of staying at this property for our winter vacation. It was so nice to return to the house each day after exploring around the island (there were many fun and interesting things to see and do, but our favourite was the Polynesian Cultural Center). The house was very comfortable, well equipped with pretty much everything one could ask for, the location was convenient, and any questions or concerns that we had were promptly dealt with. Waking up to the spectacular view each day was terrific!! We have no hesitation in recommending this rental to anyone who is considering it.

honeymoon hide-away!

My husband and I stayed here while on Oahu for our honeymoon last October. I could not have dreamed of a better experience, setting and "home away from home". It was very romantic with the private beach right in front of the house. Waking up to the beautiful sunrises was an added bonus! The agent we went through was very helpful with every question we had and the house was thouroughly equipped for all of our needs or wants. We also met the owners of the home and they also were very hospitable and helpful. We would recommend this for any type of getaway one would have planned! Would LOVE to go back!

The Makapu'u Hale cottage is just fabulous! We WILL be back! We love staying in less "touristy" locations while we vacation, yet have the ability to join in the normal tourist activities if we want. Your cottage is PERFECT for that. It is far enuf away from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu, yet as close as a 30 minute drive. The cottage, nestled at the base of Ko'olau Mountain Range in Waimanalo is a very peaceful getaway. The home itself is beautifully designed and furnished. You really get a feel for the old Hawaii, yet it is modern in every way. Wood floors, granite counters, flat panel TV and the most important- Fantastic ocean and island views. Exactly as I picture a tropical getaway, You cannot be any closer to the beach! The cottage and it's setting are just perfect. It really sets the standard for beach house rentals. Thanks again for the Hawaiian tri-hull catamaran ride and letting us fish on the pier. See you again soon! Jim and Judy
