  My wife and I stayed at Tanglewood House over President's Day weekend. This is just outside of Glen Ellen, a lovely town with some great restaurants and of course there are some incredible wineries within just a few miles! The house was nicely arranged and quite spacious for a large one bedroom plus den place. We were welcomed by the owners and shown around and then given the keys. We then left to head out to dinner. When we returned, the living room was arranged and the firepalce was already set and waiting for us to simply light it with a match. It started right up and was a great way to relax. They did that for us each evening, and it was great to come home each evening and easily start the fire. Mary asked us what time we wanted breakfast. And each morning, at exactly that time, breakfast would be delivered to our room. Fresh fruit, good coffee and then a different hot breakfast main dish. We also got a newspaper each morning. In addition, our bed was made each day, which was not expected, but was a great touch. The bed was nice and comfy. The house was quiet and we didn't even know they were around the corner from us. The grounds are nicely kept with a variety of trees and flowers. Being winter, there weren't a lot of colors, though the spring bulbs were starting to bloom. We will certainly stay with them again next time we are in the area.

  Loved this cottage, so glad to find such a lovely place just one hour from San Francisco. The gardens were beautiful, wonderful pool and the breakfasts marvelous. Love Shadow!!

  My husband and I stayed at the Tanglewood House for six nights and could have stayed longer. It is in a PERFECT location, quite, romantic and lovely accommodations. John and Mary are delightful hosts and you will be spoiled with her delicious breakfasts! They offered many suggestions on places to visit. The gardens are gorgeous and pool was relaxing after a warm day. The town of Glenn Ellen is a few moments away and has a selection of fantastic restaurants and a market. You are situated very conventient to all areas of wine country, right in Sonoma and Napa is just a 30 minute drive. We would definitely return to the Tanglewood House and recommend it to friends and family.

  My husband and I stayed 5 nights in serene Tanglewood House. Very 5 star, from privacy to large room space to views and luxury comforts. Every morning we woke up to birds singing, chef quality breakfast, wonderful insights and money saving tips. Thank you for the free tastings to surrounding vinyards. The location is ideal! Sonoma Valley is much nicer than Napa(just minutes away) Glen Ellen is a quant small town. A perfect place for families to grow old together. Visit both Muir and Armstrong redwood forests. Our favorite restaurants were Fig Cafe, Yeti(east indian) and Cafe Citti. Dont miss the drive on scenic hwy 1, Trinity Rd and Bohemian hwy. This vacation was our most lovely and romantic in years. We hope to return....again and again.

  The Tanglewood house was a pleasure to stay at. John and Mary were wonderful hosts and the breakfasts were delicious. I would highly recommend you to stay here if you are looking for a quiet retreat close to the wineries and hiking spots of Sonoma.

  Tanglewood House has to be one of our favorite places of all time. There is a certain magical quality to the place and the minute we step on the property we completely let go of our anxieties and enter into a calm, tranquil, beautiful setting that truly ministers to us deeply. We consider Tanglewood House our retreat center, our home away from home.
