This was our second stay at the yellow house with our two grown children, their spouses and their three children. What can I say except we will be going again! It is set up so a family can fully enjoy the Keys wether you are boaters and fishermen or just want to relax on the upper porch and enjoy fantastic sunsets. The owners have thought of everything and it is very clean. There are freezers on the floor level for bait and your catch, a fish cleaning station and a fantastic covered dock, plenty of water depth to moor your boat. If you need anything you can call the front office of the Motel. We met Harry, one of the owners last time and he was very friendly and helpful. We have always rented boats from Jerry's boat rental, abt 2 miles away. There is a business card in the Sea Del front office that will get you 10% off your boat rental there, saved me about $40. The security deposit was returned promptly. Enjoy!!

Our family of five, which includes kids ranging from 6 to 13, had such a great time at this house. Nothing in the description of the house was overstated. It is everything it's billed to be, and more. Great location, great views, great amenities (kayak, fishing gear, fish freezer, etc.). The location is right in the heart of the Keys, with restaurants and groceries an easy walk or drive away. Sombrero Beach is a beautiful sunny beach only a couple of blocks away. A manatee swam up to the dock on our first day there. What a sight! From the dock, we caught snapper and spotted sea trout, which provided some delicious meals. The owner, who was very attentive to our needs, gave me a tip to chum the water with some of our leftovers (a cooked chicken carcass). The next day, we caught a load of mangrove snapper. Thanks for the tip Harry. We would definitely return to this house in the future.

Owner response: So glad you enjoyed the house and thanks for the kind review. I am so glad that you got a visit from a manatee. That is always a thrill! Come back again.

OMG we loved this house. Well ,what's not to love? From the oh so comfy beds that you didn't want to get out of, to the gourmet kitchen to cook in, and have cocktails at, to the huge tv, and of course the dock, beach sand and splash pool, paradise is here. The home is clean, the wrap around porch has great sunsets, and my sister and I were able to walk almost every day to try to compensate for the fabulous restaurants which are nearby. We never even made it to the beaches because the house had everything we needed. And being able to go home with clean clothes... terrific! Thank you Harry & Carolyn, we've had a tough year and this propery gave us the privacy, and relaxation we needed. We're already discussing coming back next year!

Owner response: So happy you were able to relax and enjoy your week in the Keys! Thank you for your kind review and we always are happy to see previous guests.

We travel to Marathon every year and rent a home. Finally, we found the perfect one. Since we had a boat it was important to us to have quick and easy access to the Atlantic Side along with a dock. This house provides both with about a 10 minute run to the 7 mile bridge by boat. We had three couples and enjoyed plenty of open space, We particularly enjoyed the dining bar in the kitchen where would could set out a buffet. The house offers a washer and dryer which was well needed after long days of fishing and snorkeling as was the dipping poo outside and shower which allowed everyone to cool off. We got great use out of the fish cleaning table and made friends with many bird visitiors including pelicans, seagulls and herons who dined on our fish scraps. The view alone at this place is worth the rental - the sunsets nightly right off the back are spectacular. Some of our northern guests really enjoyed the coconuts and shell collecting as well. The men enjoyed the bait / beer freezer along with the deep freeze marked "REALLY BIG FISH" ;-) We did catch alot of fish on this trip and also enjoyed the personal visit from the owner. The house has wireless internet, an excellent cable package which was a plus for everyone - as well as a blender which got some heavy usage ;-) We are already making plans to go back in the Fall or next summer! Thanks Carolyn and Harry!

My family and I stayed the week of 6/16 and had a fabulous time. The house and location were absolutely perfect. We enjoyed being right on the water and being able to fish, swim, kayak and paddle board right on the property. The house was well appointed and very comfortable. The owners were fantastic; my husband casually mentioned how nice it would be to have a ladder off the dock to the owner; to our surprise and delight the next day a ladder was installed! We also enjoyed being close to Sombrero Beach, Bahia Honda and Key West. We will definately keep this property on our 'repeat' list. Our only disappointment was the weather, but no one could have predicted that sunny Florida would rain a bit more than usual.

Owner response: Harry had the ladder and that was a good incentive to install it! Glad you had a good time in the Keys. Thank you for your kind review.

Great place to stay in the Keys. Private, quiet location, clean house with everything you would need. My son had so much fun fishing off the dock. Clear water so you can watch the fish. Only 12 minutes via boat to the 7 mile bridge for tarpon fishing. Beautiful sunsets, cant wait to go back! Owners were fabulous to work with, thanks!

Owner response: So glad you enjoyed the house and especially happy to hear that you son had fun fishing off of the dock. Hope you caught a tarpon under the 7 mile bridge. Check out the Friends of Old Seven website at www.friendsofoldseven.org.

The second year we have rented this. Beautiful home! LOVE IT! We would recommend this place to anyone looking to relax, have your own beach, pool ( very small pool!), fishing, and kayaking at your door step to rent this property! One local restaurant we highly recommend is Porky's. Very casual, good, food, and fun!

This house is wonderful! Feels very spacious, and is quiet with a gorgeous view. The decor is lovely, and the kitchen well outfitted. The house was spotless! We had some cold weather come in, with wind, but other than that, we enjoyed kayaking, biking, and using the small pool. The owner was very responsive and accommodating, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house comes with 1 kayak, so we had 2 more and a paddle board, and a bike, delivered for the week from a nearby rental company. With the winter wind from the north, we spent a lot of time at Sombrero beach on the Atlantic side, which was hugely warmer, as well as going down to Bahia Honda. The location of this house is great, with Publix just up the street, and the beach within a 20 minute bike ride.

We had a wonderful time at this property. There were four of us and we had plenty of space to spread out. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was large and spacious. The view of the gulf is spectacular! My husband loves fishing and was pleased to have a fridge and freezer downstairs for bait and beers. We would highly recommend this vacation home to others. The owners, Carolyn and Harry did their utmost to get the Wifi up and running as we all brought computers and needed to attend to business from time to time. Thank you both for your hospitality and we look forward to returning in the future. We tried numerous restaurants and all four of us enjoyed the Sunset Grille the most. It is located on the Atlantic at the seven mile bridge, has a nice atmosphere, good food and entertainment on the weekends.

Of all the weeks to pick, we picked the week with a nearby tropical depression but this home made up for all the bad weather. The rooms were spacious and accommodating. We enjoyed blueberry pancakes and grilled rib-eye dinners overlooking the great view from the dining room. We spent many a nights recapping our day from the oversized porch. We fished from the dock and pulled in a 3-1/2 foot nurse shark which was pretty exciting. Everything we needed was there - plenty of towels, dishware and blankets. And just FYI, there is a hair dryer in the master bath cabinet. We got out on the boat 3 days and got skunked but if you do bag your limit, there is a great setup downstairs with a fish cleaning station, large gas grille and separate outdoor refrigerator/freezer for bait. We had the BEST sunset view (better than Sunset Grille which is supposed to have some of the best sunsets). And speaking of Sunset Grille - this is a fabulous place to have dinner (located 2.9 miles south at the Seven Mile Bridge). Also, surprisingly good was Hideaway Cafe (located upstairs at the Rainbow Bend Resort). Those are my two restaurant recommendations. The Master bed was super comfortable and perfect after a long day of fishing and sightseeing. I loved the dual showerheads in the master shower. And it was very convenient to have the washer/dryer right there. I went home with all clean clothes. This kitchen was fabulous with huge granite countertops and plenty of space for everyone to move around. I would cook in one area, the guys plotted courses with large maps on another counter and my sister-in-law was always nearby with her iPad. She had (unsecured) fast Wifi and outside of one really bad storm, we had great satellite TV. I will send pics to the owners, Harry & Carolyn Caplan. And I can't thank you enough for accommodating my family with your wonderful home. It was a another week of funfilled memories for us to add to the books!!

Owner response: We are so glad you enjoyed the home despite the unusual amount of rain that was dumped on your week. We hope that you will visit us again sometime soon - and thanks for the wonderful photos!

This house is situated at the end of a dead end street. As you approach the house there is a beautiful white gate and just beyond that gate is your private sand beach yard. There is a boat ramp and a nice dock. The pool is small but clean. You will not be doing laps or cannonballs in this pool, but it is perfect for cooling off or hanging out. The inside was spotless! You can tell that the entire place was renovated in the last several years. It is a home away from home. The furniture is beautiful and comfortable. The kitchen is up to date and very clean. There is a beautiful covered deck that runs the entire length of the house. I read in a previous review that someone commented on how comfortable the master bed and pillows were. I completely agree! I wanted to bring the bed and pillows home with me! The owners really take impeccable care of their home and pay special attention to every detail to make your stay enjoyable. My whole family and I had an excellent vacation staying in this house. We really enjoyed the card table, playing cribbage almost every night. The views of the sunsets were amazing every night. If ever in that area again, this house would be my first choice. I hope you make it yours too. You definitely will not be disappointed.

What a great house centrally locate to all attractions. The views of the Gulf from this home were beautiful, we never got tired of looking out the window. We utilzed the kayak and dock for fishing, however the white Crane, will steal you bait whenver you turn your back so be careful! We had a wonderful week until the wind blew out of the North at 30 mph making outside uncomfortable, so we packed our lunch and went to Coco Beach which was protected from the wind. Also, check out Sombrero Beach if you ar looking for a place to swim, they have great facilities and it is free.

What a great home and view! We stayed from 10/16/10 to 10/23/10 and it felt like home. It was like living in paradise to wake up every morning and have a view like this and privacy like it was your own island. We also rented a boat from Captain Hooks and kept it tied at the dock behind the house. A great place to go was just a few blocks south of this location at "Keys Fisheries" for great seafood and a great time. Also found another great place at Key Colony beach, Cabana Breezes. We snorkled and kayaked right off of the dock in the aqua water. What a great Place to stay!!!

WOW!!! This is what you will say when you enter this beautiful home!! My husband, our 2 closest friends and myself entered this home and that was the first words out of our mouth!!! "WOW" The pictures dont even do it justice and they're beautiful!! This home is so worth every penny and let me tell you about the most comfortable bed Ive ever slept in. We had the Master bedroom and Ill tell you what... I wanted to bring this bed home!! (And the pillows!!) The sunset in the evening was breathtaking!! A different brilliant sky every night!! We took tons of pics!! We brought our own boat, so going out into the water was a hop, skip, and a jump, with your own private ramp boat dock!! We went to restaurants, but we grilled out, enjoyed our drinks and watched the sunsets most nights.!! Going to Key West was fun!! And it was only an hour away!! Make sure you go!! This was my first time in the keys and an anniversary and vacation I will never forget!!! We will definately be back!!! Many thanks to the owners for having such a beautiful place....for such a reasonable price!! See you next year!!

My familiy and I stayed last month. It was our third stay at the big yellow house and by far the best. Peaceful, private and quiet yet exciting at the same time. The house and area surroundings were very clean and well maintained. If you like to snorkel of course there are the beautiful reefs to visit in particular check out the reef at Looe Key. Large schools of colorful fish, great sea fans, turtles, squid, and even a shark or two can be found! We recommend Strike Zone charters on Big Pine Key. If you want to snorkel locally hop right of the dock and snorkel around the islands. Most times they are teeming with marine life. Kinda of like a micro reef around the islands. We saw angels, parrots, snappers, groupers, lobsters, and even very young stag horn coral. Very cool and right in your "front yard" so to speak. Also check out the small ship wreck at the island in front of you. We did not rent a boat this year but we chartered with Captain Pips and caught yellowtails. Economically speaking check out the Marathon Lady at Capt Hooks. It is a great party boat. We went on a night trip and caught more mangrove snappers then we could count at a great price too! They clean them for you for a small fee but worth it. The Sunsets are awesome but they only compliment the amazing view of the Gulf. Beautiful high towering cumulus clouds, abundant bird life and water spouts on any given day are common sites. Caroline and Harry are caring and thoughtful owners that have made us feel welcome every time we visit. We can't wait to spend time there next year. Good eats can be located at Herbies, Castaways, Keys Fisheries and Dockside. Had a great time! Have fun in Paradise.

We stayed at this incredible home from 1/9/2010 till 1/16/2010. Unfortunately, for us, it was the coldest in 70 years! HOWEVER, the place exceeded our expectations. I had rented a book from the library "Open Road's Best of the Florida Keys" by Bruce Morris. I didn't even know it, but the owners of this house were listed as the best motel to stay in Marathon (Sea Dell Motel, page 129), so this just goes to show you what type property owners they are. Harry and Caroline couldn't have been more helpful. The cold prevented the pool from heating, as much as they tried. Harry simply returned our money for heating the pool very promptly, without us asking. The kitchen is terrific and fully stocked. The master bedroom is incredible as are all the rooms. Extras not to be expected included games, books, and a very wide variety of movies - check out the crazy B movies with women from Mars! And, I could barely get my husband away from the 60" TV, for crying out loud.... We went to Hurricanes, right around the corner, nice food, great atmosphere. The Brass Monkey was a favorite bar of ours. We found a local seafood market Captains Three (also in the book) just down the street between Publix and Winn Dixie. A huge shout out to the local Turtle Rescue as we found a 4' Loggerhead in distress, they came out asap. But, back to the house, you can't get better than this one. We are already planning next year, in Spring, no chance of cold!

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL HOME, WHAT A GORGEOUS VIEW!! One of the best features were the windows galore to view the amazing sunsets. We also enjoyed the porch in the mornings, and the pool in the afternoons. Although we enjoyed every moment 'IN' this VERY comfortable AND WELL APPOINTED vacation rental--we also enjoyed every moment "OUT AND ABOUT'. For us, the boat rental from Tropical Boats was essential to really experience the Keys. They delivered our boat to the dock and we were off on many adventures exploring the crystal clear water, fishing, and enjoying the wild life ---we encountered sea turtles, many sea birds, and porpoises. Then ...by land...(and a short water shuttle ride from the Visitor Center) we also explored Pigeon Point and learned of the rich railroad history in the area. A wonderful walk, the old Seven Mile bridge(especially at sunset!) afforded views of sharks and rays. A TRULY MEMORABLE VACATION ...wish we could've stayed forever!

This is our second time of staying on Marathon, but the first at this house. It is a beautiful house with a great location. Plenty of room to move about and for everyone to be in the same room at one time. Good WiFi, huge TV, great dock with good fishing, Who could ask for more? Paradise for artists, kayakers, fisherwomen, families, lovers, and hermits. The sunset could not be beaten as we sat on the raised porch drinking our vodkas and ahhing at the gorgeous colors. Cooked our new year's dinner in the spacious and accomadating kitchen and later listened to the music from the stereo cd player. We slept so good in the comfortable bed and lavished in the the strong showers. We exercised everyday by walking the staircase or swimming in the gulf and then entered our paradise. Plenty of place to have guests park, party and meditate. Wonderful location and so easy to find. Spent some evenings playing poker on the table, dancing on the marble floor or just relaxing. Can't get back soon enough so please make roon for me. Skeets

My family & I were VERY happy with the house and the owner's -Clean house upon arrival -Lovely view from house & dock -Big Beautiful Kitchen (bring some of your own seasonings if you like to cook) and Great Room (just like in the pictures) -Sheets & Towels no problem (Washer & Dryer in master bedroom) -Very Nice Master Bedroom with double-shower -65" High Def TV in great room + TV in Master Bedroom on satellite or cable. -Dock: enjoy the sunset, swim & fish. I recommend Tropical Boat Rentals, owner Jeff with newer & very well maintained boats with GPS, best rental rate as well. -Fishing Tackle & suggestions: World Class Angler (Tim) Great location; walking distance to both large grocery stores & Kmart. Sombrero Beach is a beautiful and smaller beach 1.5 miles away with bathrooms & showers. I only wish every vacation property I've rented was as nice as this house!
