This house is situated near to the Copacabana Palace Hotel and 3 short blocks to the Copa beach. It will make an ideal and charming rental house for the traveller who wants to experience living in a private home It has the look and feel of a 200 year old mansion yet is filled with radiant sunlight in all rooms during the day due to the two story high atrium with its retractable ceiling.
At night, the lighting gives a warm glow to all areas especially the third floor with its Balinese suite and living area and the cobalt blue pool surrounded by bamboo and palm trees. It was approximately four years in construction and every area evidences detailed attention paid to color, lighting, and furnishings. Yet - the whole feel is one of warmth and kick your shoes off informality.
One of the key features of the villa is the staff who works well as a team and thoroughly enjoys their guests. You can determine what level of service you are most comfortable and the owner will help you arrange in advance the sort of house rental that works for you and your guests. The villa is not available unstaffed.
The house has a driver, travel agent, baby sitter, cook, and security officers available to the guest.
As well as serving as a vacation home for a family, a few couples, or business visitors - this spot makes a perfect film or photo shoot location. Long term rentals for executives are possible.The dining room and attached library make for an ideal spot for private meetings. The atrium which opens all four levels of the house at once - is ideal for a small musical group and party venue such as small wedding, baptism,birthday, anniversary, etc. Because of the nature of this villa - it is NOT an ideal choice for a group of singles who wishes late night parties. THe MAXIMUM ADULT CAPACITY IS 14 + 4 CHILDREN
The house is in a quiet residential neighborhood and the third floor pool and living area are quiet zone after 11PM.

- This house is a luxury villa completed in December of 2006 on a guarded and gated mews street within 5 minute walk of central Copacabana Beach and the Copacabana Palace Hotel. There are four main bedroom suites - all with Jacuzzis, sitting area and balcony. A library contains a full size Murphy bed and with a non attached hall bathroom. There is a cabana bedrooms with two twin bunks. THe house sleeps maxiumum of 14 adults and 4 children on sofas in parents rooms The house has the feel of a 200 year old villa and all rooms open to an atrium with a glass ceiling that opens to the sky. The terraced third floor roof has a swimming pool with 8 jacuzzi jets, sun area, Balinese living room type varanda with wood grill and fireplace. There is a pool bath, maids area, and two story Balinese Wood Suite on this level. The kitchen is completely equipped with every possible feature. Why the Owner Chose Rio de Janeiro
I come from a small village in Michigan and always wanted something to compliment my Manhattan life. Copacabana has always been my favorite area in Rio de Janeiro -especially the small private streets with 100 year old houses. Ipanema is too New Yorkish and modern. I wanted to be close to the beach but not in an apartment. THis spot was a love at first site choice. THe largest antique mall in Brazil is across the street. I lived at the hotel next door for years while the house was being built and I just felt at home in this neighborhood. These few blocks have the greatest local farmers market, real local restaurants, and the most incredible sidewalk neighborhood bars (almost like a club) to stop for a chop on a hot night. I have always been a pool person but usually walk to the beach about 3 or so for an hour - when the heat of the day is waning.
The Unique Benefits at this Villa
Staying in the villa is very different than just renting a vacation house. THe staff have been there since day one - and love the house and entertaining guests. Breakfast is a extravaganza.
Denise and I have developed a menu just recently as so many guests once settled in just don't want to go out to eat. Especially the large groups. The kitchen can turn out a real feast for dinner. SO many people who rent the villa don't know Rio and I try to help arrange their trip months before they even arrive. We have a number of email information packets especially written to help guests maximize their trip. Where to shop and what to buy, where to eat, drink, and be merry. Where to tour and how to do it. What to bring. All of the little details that can really make a vacation. I think my house is just like the houses I like to visit - thousands of books, great pantry, fun sweet staff with good energy - especially friendly. We want our guests to see the real Rio de Janeiro - places and experiences that most tourists miss. I think our Villa restaurant guide is the neatest intro to eating in Rio. IT is only a couple dozen spots but most importantly WHY we love them so much. We are very available, always welcoming, and always looking forward to seeing a guest return for another visit.

I first saw this little street from my hotel suite on the next block and the tiny old house which first attracted me is now this villa. What was going to be a modest little renovation turned out to be a tear down and a complete new house. Every inch was drawn by me over a few years time and all of the furniture is from either NYC auction houses or the local antique stores in Rio. My volunteer work in Brazil orphanages brings me to the house once a month or so and the rentals support the work
there. Before dental school, I graduated from Michigan State University Hotel and Restaurant School and over the past few years - the house has evolved from a rental to a fully staffed villa with catering. Because of the demand for a large house with many bedrooms - some modifications were finished early this year. The original pencil sketches done on my dining room table in New York are framed and hang in the stone hall. People when they first enter are blown away by all the details. Nothing makes me happier when I am there than a house full of friends with the kitchen in full gear, and my musician friends playing away after dinner.

Fantastic Christmas and New Years in Rio! We decided to spend Christmas and New Years Eve in Rio for 08. I am an American living in Paris with my wife and youngest son who is 18. I have a son in London who is 20 and another in the US who is 21. With the family spread so far, Christmas is a very important time of the year to us to spend some quality time together. We searched far and wide until finding this luxury villa on the web. At that point our choice was made as this looked like a perfect place for our holiday. The owner, Michael was great to work with and really sought to ensure we had a special stay. He gave us some great tips to enjoy the area, had the staff purchase food and beverages prior to our arrival and even arranged for the staff to fix a wonderful Brazilian dinner for Christmas eve. Upon our arrival the house and staff exceeded even our lofty expectations. The house is meticulously decorated and looks every bit and more the pictures and video on the website. It is roomy and spacious and was a perfect place for our family to meet and spend quality time together. So much better than any hotel could have been. Denise and Marcia fixed us fantastic breakfasts each morning. Wonderful food with a touch of local fare as well. Christmas Eve dinner was wonderful also. The kitchen, dining room and library are all fantastic common areas where we were able to enjoy each other and experience the great hospitality of the staff. On top of all the food they cleaned the rooms daily and even did the laundry as part of the service. Try and get that from a hotel. The location of the house is great. Only 3 blocks from Copacabana beach. An easy walk and interesting shops and establishments along the way. We were often forewarned about crime in the area, but we took the proper precautions and didn't have any problems. We spent some great time at the beach, and enjoying the nightlife of Copacabana and Ipanema which is a short drive away. New Years Eve on Copacabana beach is absolutely magic! We also took two days from a tour guide name Carlos who was arranged through Michael and the staff. Carlos was great and showed us all the sites of the area while providing historical insight and context. We also got to see a favella which was very interesting. All in all it was a magical trip. My 3 boys said it was the best Christmas and the best trip we have ever taken and we do a lot of traveling. Rio is a special place and this villa is the best way to enjoy the experience. Recommended for: Tourists without a Car, Families with Teenagers, Sightseeing, Girls Getaway, Families with Young Children

This amazing property is a beautifully appointed, three-story home with a staff that really takes care of you. Our group was in Rio for a wedding and even people who lived there were amazed at our fabulous accommodations. The location is tucked away in a gated alley and once you open the front door, you are in a completely different world. We can't say enough good things about this property -- what you see in the pictures is absolutely accurate. And the location allows you to safely walk several blocks to the beach. The owner of the home stayed in touch with us from beginning to end and they went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect for us. Although we had an infant with us, we would not recommend this place for small children -- too many stone stairways and too many beautiful decorator items. Would highly recommend this property to those who appreciate the finer things.

Tranquility and Eloquence This has to be one the nicest places to stay and relax in. The home has a welcoming feel with each room as relaxing as wonderful as the next decorated with great detail and eloquence. The staff is friendly as well as respectful of each guests privacy. Being a cook back home the kitchen here in this villa would be the envy of anyone who likes to indulge in the culinary arts. The library is warm and relaxing place to read or enjoy a quiet moment. Each room has a distinctive personality that lends a cocoon of civility after a long day of travel or fun at the beach. The location is nicely tucked away on a private mew with a short walk to the beaches, shops and cafes. This is a definite place I will return to and will be recommending to all my friends.
