We loved loved this house, the view and Ireland. It and the view exceeded my expectations. The house was clean and the owner was very helpful with all my questions prior to the trip. It was hard to leave it at times and venture out for the sites but coming back to it after a long day on the Ireland roads made it feel like home. My sister and I rented it with our cousin and her husband for ten days in September. The layout of the bedrooms and bathrooms was perfect for us. Even though tropical storm Katia greeted our arrival, it made the ocean stormy and beautiful. It was well worth some rain and wind. My sister and I went horseback riding at Mountain View Stable in Lisdoonarvada (not sure if I spelled this correctly) and highly recommend it. Our guide Stephie was so nice and helpful in easing us back in the saddle. OConner's pub in Doolin had a terrific fellow singing and the food was good too. I would positively recommend this house and its location. Hope to return some day.

My friend and I stayed in this gorgeous cottage in August, and I can honestly say I have never stayed in a more cozy or beautiful residence. The view from the sunroom is one that takes your breath away, as the house is situated on the top of a hill overlooking the equally cozy town of Doolin, the countryside, the ocean, and even a castle. Although we visited Galway and Dublin during our trip, the best part was spending time in the house enjoying the view. The pubs nearby were also a delight, filled with live music and joyful people. It was an experience I will never forget, and I cannot thank the owners enough for letting us stay there!

This place is ideal, very clean and well located for surfing at Lahinch, golf at Lahinch, tour of the Islands, tour of the Burren, good beaches at Fenora and Lahinch, and excellent Irish pubs and eating places all within a 50 kms. The owner provided excellent people for customer service of every little detail. I'd recommend this property to anyone!

This house is truly the very best house I have ever rented. It is warm, inviting, and comfortable with quality workmanship throughout. The layout is well thought out with bedrooms at both ends and living area in the center. It comes stocked with excellent reading material, music library and board games. And, the views are breathtaking! Also, the location of Doolin serves perfectly for day trips. There is plenty to do locally, but within a couple hours drive one can be in Galway, Limerick or Blarney. I highly recommend this house!

The location is perfect! Very clean and well maintained. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone. This property is truly a gem. The views from the patio and the atrium are breathtaking especially when the Aran Islands come into view. We were pleasantly surprised and lucky to have found such a wonderful home for our first visit to Ireland. We'd like to thank the owners for sharing such a beautiful home with my husband, my mother, and I. It was truly a treat!
Owner response:Needless to say, my ego is very involved in our house. And I adore to hear that a family has enjoyed the house so much. We feel very fortunate that we have such thoughtful renters. Thank you!

This house is truly lovely. There are so many little touches that it make a home away from home--the fireplace, the large kitchen, the assortment of board games, books on Ireland and the old-fashioned rocking chair to name a few. The house provides plenty of room for a large crowd without feeling like everyone is on top of one another. The landscape around the house speaks for itself, but the house itself is positioned to really capitalize on the fantastic views while still feeling private and somewhat secluded. The beautiful bay window in the living room provides an expansive look over the ocean, the castle down the road, and Inisheer in the distance.

We loved it! I used to think the Oregon coast was about the prettiest spot of this earth, but not any more. We had he most beautiful weather - every day - and just loved staying in your beautiful home. And that stove of yours - awesome. I do all the cooking for our gang and that was the first item in your book that I studied. Our whole time in Ireland was great. The Doolin area was a high point - and we really enjoyed our boat trip out to Inis Oirr and the cliffs of moher, and the walking tour of the Burren with Shane. We also went to Dysert O'dea and then I studied your book of the Irish Round Towers. Awesome. What a view from your conservatory windows! Thanks again for allowing us to stay in your home. One day we hope to return.

What a wonderful place. Words can't do it justice. We spent a week here, and you won't find anywhere in Ireland with more breathtaking views or a more welcoming and comfortable feel the second you walk in the door. We didn't know which we wanted to do more: stay home and enjoy our lovely, peaceful cottage, or go out and explore the surrounding area. Great pub grub in Doolin, especially at McGann's. We found plenty to do to keep us busy, and we can't wait to come back.

This is the most amazing home. Beautiful views and Doolin is an amazing village. We checked out all of the pubs (in the name of research, of course) and we loved McDermott's the best. The owners and the caretakers are quite wonderful and thoughtful. You will love your stay in this beautiful house.
Owner response:Msny thanks for your kind words!

The listing was accurate, but words and even pictures cannot adequately depict the beauty of this home and the views out the conservatory windows! A castle, whitecaps, ferries and cows were all visible and calming. Everything needed was in place and the home neat as a pin with wonderful furnishings. We found the town of Doolin charming, esp. the just out of town pub, McGann's. The home was an ideal home base for visiting cities to the north and the south. Bunratty Castle and the airport are a mere hour away; the famed Ring of Kerry with views was an easy drive away as well as the wonderful town of Adare. Stonecutters Restaurant was a favorite dinner place less than a mile away. The natives and tourists were fun to talk to and the Irish music relaxing. I would recommend this property rental to my closest friends!

We spent a week here for our honeymoon, and it was the most beautiful, fun, romantic week of my life. The house is so warm and welcoming, we immediatly felt at home. The view from the house is absolutely breathtaking. I just can't say enough good things about this place and the surrounding area. The owners are wonderful, and very helpful. We definitly want to return someday.

Our family just returned from two weeks in this warm, comfortable, magical, elegant (there aren't enough adjectives!)home. And as beautiful and welcoming as the house is, the surrounding land and nearby ocean are even more so. It was wonderful to start each day with a cup of tea on the patio, watching the ferries go back and forth from the Aran Islands, feeling the sun and the breeze, and being amazed by the absolute quiet of the place! I am so grateful to the owners for sharing this place. I hope to return.

We are veteran home renters, but Draiocht charmed us beyond any other place that we have ever stayed. This lovely home is a bastion of stillness, covered with a traditional thatch roof and set upon the most beautiful rolling hills running down to the sea. The view is so stunning that dozens of cars stop daily right along the road outside so that folks can hop out and have a picture. In fact, this very same view -- a 15th century castle with the sea beyond – is featured in the current (September 2007) issue of Condé Nast (in an article on touring the “new” Ireland). The entire home is comfortably and charmingly furnished. We were particularly grateful for the collection of books helping us to identify the flora and fauna of the area and providing background on Ireland of the type not commonly found in guidebooks. The house is so snug that you will be tempted to spend all day curled up with a book and the view, but make sure to get outside on foot. It is an easy and breathtaking walk into Doolin. If you tire of pub grub, the food at both Cullinan’s and The Lazy Lobster is not to be missed. Other wonderful walks include the road to The Clare Jam Shop and the road bearing the sign from Co. Clare warning of “Dangerous Cliffs.”We are immensely thankful for our two weeks at Draiocht. We hope that it will remain just as it is – beautiful and unspoiled – for many years to come.
