Our Big Chill reunion!
Our Big Chill reunion!
We rented this cottage with two lifelong friends and it is situated just down the way from a B&B that two other friends were able to stay at and together this set-up allowed us to have a terrific reunion. Dinners were feasts thanks to the wonderful screened gazebo and sunsets were beautiful to watch from that spot. The cottage was very well equipped and we found everything we needed to sleep well, eat hearty and rest and relax. The outdoor shower was an outstanding feature and breakfast coffee on the front porch often afforded us the luxury of watching eagles soar over the beach just steps away. You can't beat the views and the convenience of this spot. We walked to the beach regularly and we sometimes drove over to the local lighthouse (3 minutes away) to enjoy the waves. Shopping for essentials and more was a snap. PS - The cottage is within a beach community but it feels very private nonetheless. I would rent this cottage again in a heartbeat. You'll be pleased you did!

very clean bright cottage, beautiful beaches nearby
very clean bright cottage, beautiful beaches nearby
We found that this cottage to be very cozy - it was the perfect size for our family of 4. Everything was nice and clean and bright. The breezes blowing through the cottage at night kept us nice and cool. Everything we needed was there - beach chairs, beach towels, board games, some toys, DVD player (bring your own kids movies). The outdoor shower came in very handy after being at the beach. The kitchen had everything we needed. We found the location was really close to grocery stores and shopping. Attractions such as Greenwich National Park, Charlottetown, Avonlea Village, Basin Head day beach, were all very closeby which was handy. We spent a lot of time exploring the beautiful beaches - white sand, clear waters, breathtaking dunes. The only downfall (no fault to the owners) was that our visit coincided with the arrival of the jellyfish, which were so abundant that our kids were not too keen on swimming with them! This was the only disappointment we experienced. We explored lighthouses and did lots of souvenir shopping. The photos and description of the property are accurate. We did find that the ocean was not as close to the cottage as we expected and the actual view of the ocean was limited, but it was still very close. We enjoyed our visit very much and loved our PEI experience.

Owner response: Thanks so much for staying with us and for taking the time to write such a thorough review. So happy that you found everything you needed for a wonderful family vacation. I wish I could do something about the jellyfish, but mother nature is in charge there! They are gone now... Depends on the tides and the storms! The cool thing is that with the jellyfish often come starfish as I think you guys found! Thanks again!
We loved this cottage. It was clean, quiet, comfortable and cozy and only a short walk to a beautiful beach of pristine and calm waters. We loved its central location and we took advantage of the sites from Points East all the way to Cavendish. We will come back and we would recommend this property to anyone wanting a relaxing and peaceful holiday in PEI!!!!

A Great Beach Get-away
A Great Beach Get-away
The cottage had everything we needed - even for preparing and serving dinner for a crowd of visitors. The screen porch and gazebo were perfect for evening relaxing. A short walk away is miles of beach to explore, including dunes and a light house. We rode our bikes from the cottage to Red Head and the Confederation Trail. After a week we were not finished exploring the area. It is not easy to find a house and location to make mom, dad and 2 teens happy, and Plover Cottage did just that. Thank you Linda and Mel for a great visit!

we have spent 2 glorious summer vacations at this cottage. Linda and Mel are terrific generous and gracious hosts. What a well equipped kitchen! Beyond groceries and a duffle bag of casual clothing, just bring an appetite for seafood and a good book. (and some mosquito repellent) The beach is quiet and a leisurely 5-7 minute stroll away. Day trips to the Island's most popular spots are only 20 minutes to an hour away.

Owner response: It has been our pleasure to have Nerene and her family stay with us. The only other thing you need to bring is your sunblock for those gorgeous long beach days!

About the owner: We are a family of 4 (two children under 10) who has close ties to PEI. This is our family cottage and we are so fortunate to be able to spend our family time here. We love sharing it with others and love to hear from people that it was their 'best family vacation ever!'
Why the Owner Chose St. Peters:
We absolutely love this part of PEI. The views go on for ever and the ocean is warm and safe. Our children love to find shells, go skimboarding, build sandcastles and run forever on, what feels like, our very own piece of paradise!
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
PEI is a unique place. Our lives seem to slow down here to the essentials ... beach... golf... bike rides and sunsets. If, like us, you enjoy fresh, local food, then PEI is the place to be. We eat only what is produced here on the island and are stuffed every night! We can get our 'city fix' with a trip into Charlottetown and be back to enjoy happy hour on the beach in the late afternoon.
